Nothing indicates the windscreen is different between 1.6 and 1.8. Those you see on the 1.8 is actually the rain sensor. Cause there is nothing there for the 1.6 High Spec despite having auto light system as well.

I'll find out more tomorrow, I hardly touched the 1.6 at all since it's arrival. 1.8 is simply the car to buy for an Elantra.

Then here's a bad news, if the auto light system isn't stick onto the windscreen, your lights is going to turn on earlier in the evening if you decided to go for window tint. At least if the light sensitive diode is stuck on the windscreen, you can cut a gap around it on your tint film. One other way is to pray there is someone really good in electronics that works in a Hyundai service center to re-calibrate the light sensitivity level.

bro, thanks for being upfront about it.

Comment fr FB saying that 1.8 floating at 120kmh..sound like not reasonable for a 1.8 car even my light Vios still stable at tat speed. Anyone here tested the car at tat speed? Hv no chance to test tat day coz jammed.
*
anyone who test drove the 1.8 can confirm this?

Floaty or not is something comparable. If you are driving an S-class you definitely feel the normal C-seg car to be floaty. So far the most unstable sedan i ever tried is the second gen Vios. I don't think Elantra can be worse than that or Sylphy considered the long wheelbase and class leading 0.28 cd biggrin.gif

bro, you did place a booking right? when are you promised the car?

I believe if SD held the test drive experience without reveal the price, every1 will enjoy the ride, those bashing around bcuz of the !price!

Bro fluid, ntg SD can do?

Giv discount ? add more freebies? free bodykit? tint voucher? free insurance one year? cash rebate? euro 2012 tickets? korean trip?
free maintenance for 1st month? 2nd? 3rd? free SNSD concert ticket? free SNSD poster? Super Junior T-shirt? please~~~

Anything to do, can you propose it? i can write a formal letter regarding this matter, i m sure every1 here agree.
*
this one i fully agree.. most of the bashers there are comparing with naza products.. well, its their point of view, but i kinda think that aside from Naza, i dont see any other car manufacturer putting in such competitive pricing.. someone in naza must be helluva good in giving bbbjs.. biggrin.gif

Yes this is a main question i wana find out, what is the reason behind!

Make this elantra look so perfect car till facing so many delay problem.

Dont you suspect anything wrong???!

before the preve 1 power event launch, some of the P1 engineer tested the elantra, every1 is curious about this car!

Isit bcuz of elantra so they purposely launch the preve with pricing competitive and features same alike wad elantra has??? hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
yes.. i also curious on the diff between Naza and SD.. both cronies also right??

well.. i wouldnt need to think much if they've spec the elantra as per the previous specs and charging the current price..

naza = family business, a lot of ppl jelly them trying to take them down.

SD = GLC, a company where everyone is a salary earner, and need to face shareholder.
*
icic.. but the gomen not too concern about them being able to provide fully spec cars at freaking competitive prices..

Let me make it clear. I've boycott proton no matter how cheap it is or how long the spec list. They have screw up our auto industry for 20 yrs and still posting a lost. Look at how well Thai is doing, region hub for most car productions. Without potong, we would have been the ideal location for auto regional hub bcoz no major natural disasters. Now we r paying a bomb to own any car non-potong (except naza who seem to have some special relation w them). And also look at Wat happened to elantra pricing and launch delays
*
i concur with this even though i'm driving a wira now.. biggrin.gif you hit it on the spot when saying that they're are the fucuking reason why we need to pay so much more for our cars. heck, even proton is overcharging us. The thundercats are DIRT CHEAP overseas.. so double whammy for us.. shakehead.gif mad.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif

Lets not go that route again la. We can rant and rant but nothing gonna change. If potong can improve their quality (by a lot) it should do well. But I would not want to be one of their beta testers.
*
well.. after overcharging, uber protection from our gomen, they can still post a losss... what gives??? really doh.gif

but good point. if they can up their standard to say like perodua.. i'll be happy.. no doubt the preve has some freaking good specs.. as you said, quality and reliability remains the question smile.gif

Finally had the chance to test drive the elantra. but only the 1.8 premium rclxms.gif did my test drive at the SS2 branch, too lazy to drive all the way to old klang road, so sorry to SA there blush.gif

anyway, my comments

Interior:
For me, the interior is way better than what you get in the Forte. in fact, i'll go as far to say that its kinda on par if not better than the honda civic. for those who say its cheap, i think they must have been comparing to VW or Beemers.. smile.gif I love the curves and the soft plastics inside. the supervision cluster is also very pleasing on the eyes (to mine and my mrs at least) As for the leather seats, the red stitching aside, i really like how the nappa leather feels. Definitely felt more comfortable than the forte's. Legroom, although not as good as the slyphy's, is definitely on par if not better than most of the other cars in the same segment. Width wise is definitely better than sylphy, kinda the same as civic. i did had 2 complaint though. Under glaring sun light it was a little hard to see the LCD display even with max brightness settings. According to the SA, its because they haven't put in any tinting yet and visibility will improve tremendously once you have tinting. Not sure how accurate this is. Next complaint is at the center backseat. No idea why there is a slight bulge there making anyone sitting in that position a tad uncomfortable. As for height wise, its pretty acceptable for me although i have to agree that it might be slightly uncomfortable for those over 6 feet. However, in all fairness, it will be an issue only if the person is sitting fully straight. i think there is enough length in the backseats and legroom to accommodate some less upright sitting.

Exterior:
No further comment. love the design except for the inokom badge tongue.gif i did ask about the hyper silver and the SA said that its similar to the Tucson's hyper silver. not bad. came home and asked uncle google and managed to find this site http://www.dacar.su/ru/cars/hyundai/color....59&color_id=455. Should be able to give you guys a better picture of the colors. btw, the SA showed be a couple of bodykits from Korea and it did got me drooling especially the drls and led backlights.

The Drive:
For those who say that its underpowered, no idea what you guys are comparing it against. For my test drive, there is sufficient torque, albeit a slight hesitation when you first floor the peddle. For me, the power is comparable to other 1.8s. Ride comfort is there. Handling, didnt really get to test it out as the roads are pretty straight and narrow at SS2. NVH wise is much better than the forte, comparable with other c-segments BUT imho, no as good as the Slyphy.

Offers:
Not much. Didnt get any discounts. Just free front and back emblems, RM300 off tinting and full tank. According to the SA, he already has 30-40 booking himself alone.. popular car, not allowed to give further discounts by SD. Wondering if any other SAs can top that.. hmm.gif

well there you go. a non professional review from a non professional reviewer brows.gif

This better than Forte, that better than Forte...... price better than Forte or not?
*
well if it makes you feel better, i concur that features, acceleration and most importantly PRICE still belongs to the Forte 2.0. no brainer there.. but i cannot in any way justify the forte having better built quality (both interior and exterior) and ride comfort compared to the elantra.
