35mm would be equivalent on the camera body that you are using;)

My point of view is, if 35mm is equivalent to human eye, why opt for something you can see everyday.

50mm on a dx will be more interesting than 35mm. My opinion. tongue.gif

Change the camera and im done with DSLR.

Probably get 50mm 1.8g or 85mm 1.8g then im done with lens too.

Edit: I did sold off my 50mm 1.8g after i bought 17-55mm

wow u changed a lot of things in a short period of time...
d5100 is about 1 year+ old only and u changed so much in that time

Well, im still using D5100 today, its a great camera as many mentioned before me. D7000 sensor etc

Nothing much for me to complaint as it gives good picture.

Yup, many things change this 1 year ++, I have improved alot too, but still same camera.

Imo, for new buyer thinking of starting photography, why not consider D3200 instead of one year old D5100 or 2 years old D7000?

4th option: IF you are not rushing, wait for D3200.

5th option: Buy D5100 body only and 50mm 1.8g, then wait for 28mm. 1.8g to come out. u get 2/3 of the trinity.

Agreed totally with tctham on the D5100.

The rest is pretty much personal preference.

imo, the kit lens only cost like extra rm200, No hard really getting it. then only decide what to get next.

One Light, Many Lights Seminar - Kuala Lumpur

By: Zack Arias & Joe McNally

July 28, 2012 9:00am - 5:00pm

LT 1, Taylor’s Lakeside Campus, Sunway
QUOTE
Two lighting masters, Zack Arias & Joe McNally go head to head. One light vs many lights. Minimalism vs elaborate.

Perhaps Canon vs Nikon? This will be a mouthwatering showdown & a great learning experience.

This is a full day lighting seminar filled with world class lectures and lots of live demonstrations. Zack Arias will champion the use of one light and show you amazing results can be achieved with the good use of one single light source. Joe McNally will take over the reigns in the afternoon by demonstrating the virtue and magic of multiple lighting setups. This is a not-to-be-missed lighting and photography seminar.

Anyone wanna go with me?

65USD.

just back from AFA, everyone armed with DSLR and camera, and with flash pointing to the high ceiling. Some even point to flash to the crowd when portrait mode. Like flash bang.

Dont they know the ceiling is TOO HIGH?

at least use a demb flash lah. Anyway, i have shoot with X100 extensively the past month or two. Shoot with DSLR and X100 today, and i have to said, shooting with X100 today is way more fun then my Nikon.

DSLR mainly to shoot those model, but if want to shoot street style on everything, X100 easier lah. tongue.gif

thats why u need to go buy 28mm 1.8G for ur dslr biggrin.gif

i use 16-35 today, so focal length wise, i felt just nice,

Just the feeling and the ease and speed of pulling the camera from waist to eye level and shoot takes longer for DSLR than small camera like X100.\

Edit: 28 1.8g in my wishlist too.
