dont rely on post process la, get it right in the shot is more important

this is that kind of panning i wanted to make, but sometime my zoom lens cant track the subject well with AF-C because it is a crop lens and AF is slow
hard to hold zoom lens steady without monopod especially after running around the area for different angle
I agree, try get it right first time....so you can avoid spending time in PP (I malas PP lol)

another question:
how fast shutter speed for make the car stopped?
how slow the shutter speed to make eveything blur?

wow. everyone so extreme.

haha I seldom go past ISO800. Normally shooting at ISO200-400
Added on May 3, 2012, 10:47 amThis was shot actually at 5kmph.. but looks like going at faster speed. Shutter speed was 1/30 of a second.
If you look at water drop photography, they use high shutter speed to freeze the water drop. The same concept applies. try go shooting at a water fountain. Try fast to slow shutter speeds, its easier to understand

Thom Hogan (http://www.bythom.com/index.htm) has a good hint on his page today for panning, you might find it helpful

bright daylight & outdoor ok la 100-400 ... but indoors ... D3100 not so good dy, if not sure get slow shutter speed.

when I'm doing product shots, I use 200-400 also, coz the light alrdy bright and I'm always on tripod.
Yup yup you are right! Looking back at it we were very light handed with the noise reduction. I think we were worried we would wipe out too much detail, but I tried it again and we got better results

ISO 200-400 cannot shot indoor without flash la, many of my indoor photos are shot at ISO 1000+ especially during pc fair, nikon no need worry about low light la

i use 1/30 shutter speed but cannot pan well, got those minor blur/handshake
Yeap, standard shooting ISO 100-400 for max image quality...it's only when you go to the extremes like sports, events and concerts when you need a silly level of ISO. (D700 pls
