unsure.gif anyone upgrade from d700 to D800 because D800 have 100% viewfinder?
*
The D300/D300s has 100% viewfinder, 0.94 magnification, i use a moded DK-17M to make the magnification close to 100%....... biggrin.gif

there are ways to to make your D700 viewfinder to almost 100%........just google it

a question, is it possible to use macro filters instead of buying an expensive macro lens (let's say I'm just a beginner and don't wanna spend so much yet on macro lens)?

I've seen some youtube videos how they stack them up and can get close-ups, of course, may not be as awesome as pro macro lens, but I think it's pretty good for with lower budget? Anyone ever try this out?
*
yes, its a start for macro photog, you'll learn the fundamental basics by the trial n error of stacking up the filters and what the results it will show. There are other ways to macro, extension tubes, reverse couler etc, each has its own pros and cons, or you could put alll of the stuff into 1 big go.....its crazy but the magnification will blow you out esp if you are into macro !

for me sometimes i stack up some macro filters in front of my 105mm macro lens! or sometimes will just stack it infront of my standard lens, all depends on what I need to take and the situation and how I want the picture to be

Double thread as in front and back? You want to put something in front of the CPL? ND filter? For what?

Too thick combination and the outcome will vignette.
*
I knew you would ask something like that ( and the vignetting ).........wanna put a screw-in lens hood......and yes, i love hoods!

looks like i found part of my answers...b+w xs pro ksm cpl has double thread......yay! rclxms.gif .....at rm700++...duh! cry.gif

Sorry for the assumption. My bad. You using an old lens with with screw-in type of lens hood? My 85mm f/1.4D uses a metal one.
*
err, ya, something along that line, suddenly some AFD lens seems to catch my attention lately...hence the search for what if and what nots......

been shooting raw for over a yr now ... but i notice the red, pink, orange color is always difficult to get right with D3100 ... i had to spent lots of time tweaking the red/pink/orange tones in LR ... any tips? is it because the dynamic range of the D3100 sensor not good? ... the reds is like saturated when imported to LR.
*i normally import with zero/no preset

i see many ppl get this red tones pretty consistent and lovely always ...very envy liao tongue.gif
*
Not usre about the D3100, but I think you could download some picture control settings fro Nikon website for your camera. Or you could tweak the picture control settings until you get the desired tint/tone, then save it on your camera/sdcard. The general picture settings may differ according to different lenses you use, so you may need to tweak it alittle bit more to get your desired effect....... smile.gif

hmm has the supply of D800 caught up with demand yet?
*
I think its worst, coz Nikon has to replace/repair defective ones, and possibly fix some thats current in the assembly line. Once we see some cameras on the shelves, then possbily supply would have stabilised, who knows when D600 comes out everyone will rush to get one maybe by then the D800 would have dropped to sub 9k region ( wishful thinking! drool.gif )

That's the thing. I ain't sure of anything.. Don't even know how to make sure  blink.gif
*
Happened to me once, turned out that I had accidently pressed the lens released button, thus unlocking the lens, so no AF . Usually thats the first thing I will check, and if I'm sure the lens is clicked in, then will I look at other factors, which so far has not gone beyond step No.1 biggrin.gif

thanks for the info.
yalo..i also worry the vignetting issue on the tokina lens.
*
you will get vignetting on the UWA ( FX FOV 18mm below) unless you get the special Extra wide CPL by B+W, saw on their webiste it cost.....USD539 drool.gif

Unless you are really a serious landscape photog or your lens gets you the dough, suggest just get the CPL for tammy
