Hi guys, currently I'm participating in a Lego contest using NXT 9797 set.

But we are supposed to build everything from scratch on competition day, any software to safe the design?

Thanks

Try LeoCAD.
http://leocad.org/index.htm

You may want to import the latest NXT parts into LeoCAD as well.

I dont really know how the LUG is going to be like....but I love the idea of coming together to design and play together-gether. Maybe members can contribute money when we have projects. Volunteer and take turns to open our houses to have meetings...something like that.....even Singapore has their own LUG....why not malaysia...but i donno how we can get bricks in large quantities.....

any ideas?

It's just a secondary school competition. Racing with our preprogrammed lego across the circuit.
