im interested in MTB,

today went to a shop, saw few bikes but maybe chapalang one price around RM700-1800. same brand name on frame, but different on gear, brakes and others.

just want to know, how much should i start with a starter bike for MTB ride.
anyone can recommend any shop? i prefer to start at 1k or below, will uprgrade one by one (as the sales guy told me, better get complete bike price more than adding item one by one could be pricy).

My house near Ulu Yam, gonna try the trail soon. Glad to join you guys, btw im fat with 100kg of weight, looking this as sport for my health and the thrill of MTB train. hehehe.

hi guys, does Thompson Elite X4 Stem 50mm ok? if compare with hope? just the brand difference or weight?

just ask few noob questions...

a) does the brakes (lever/caliper) and the disc need to be of the same set? (or can mix/match)

b) is it true that shimano disc can only fit on shimano hub?
else need to do modification?

doing some research for future upgrade. =D

ok... now things are making more sense.

If  shimano offers 6 bolt disc then matching it with other hub would be fine then.

fitting large tyre on the front would make more control during high speed corner. But say for low speed climb wouldn't the traction offer at rear wheel is much more needed?

Anyone using ZTR Flow Rim? I am considering between Arch and Flow as I ride trail in the weekend and on road in the weekdays.

The problem is I found that ZTR Flow rim ID is extremely wide 22.3MM if not mistaken compared to Arch ID 19mm.

I am currently runs Maxxis Detonator and Larsen TT for road and some XC.

Plan to get Nevegal or Crossride for Kiara.

My question is if I got new wheelset (Hope EVO Pro 2 with ZTR Flow). I don't think Maxxis Detonator can fit into the  Flow rim.

Any advice? BTW what other hub recommended beside Hope EVO Pro 2.

The damage cost for Hope EVO Pro 2 and ZTR Flow is around RM1.78K? Is that expensive or reasonable?

Thanks. Another thing if I were to use Maxxis Detonator 1.5, did you experience fit those training tire to wide rim? Or tire are the same even from 1.5 to 2.5 can fit into Flow rim? Sorry I am totally inexperience in this.
Snapshot, thanks for sharing thou. Anyway I am using Merida hardtail. I am not sure if the rear can accomodate 2.35 LOL. Going to crank like crazy if I ever fit 2.35 to my rear rim.

well if you got cash to burn sure, get 2 sets but if you dont and have to shop around, just get the best set you can afford pump up the pressure when you ride on road. because with our gear inches and inefficient aero position, you aint never go anywhere really fast, with or not slicks!

Manage to get my Hope Pro 2 EVO with ZTR Arch EX

However, something weird happened today. The tube exploded after I left there for 1 hour. I didn't even install my cassette and disc rotor on the new wheelset yet. 

Anyone encounter this before? If over pressure it definitely explode when I was pumping it. Just curious

FYI I putting Maxxis Detonator 1.5x26 on the ZTR Arch EX.

After 2 ride from Kiara, notice that my rear break sound horrible. when I start to break, i notice the feels like abs. feel like gripping on something wobbling behind.

i checked my rear break and it is aligned. i tried to aligned again. the same problem exist..anyidea?

want to ask...is kiara trail(aggresive downhill not include)can maximize 160 travel function?i ride 140mm travel but i seen many 160mm....is a trend ka,kiasu ka,want bling bling ka....or really really nid 160mm fork for certain DROP?

From far... I shouted rider coming through... but until I reach the place... they still jump here jump there like fark...
