Basically rims are choosen according to your riding style. Weight is usually the main criteria but for down hill rides, a lighter rim may not withstand heavy bashing so you must choose between rigidity and weight. For XC rides or as I can see in KL, mostly tar road rides, I think it is safe to choose any wheelsets that you fancy.

The more spokes it has, the easier it is to align and also more spokes makes the rim stronger just as in BMXes where some wheelsets are full of spokes. Off course less spokes makes the rim looks aesthetic so again i9t up to you to choose which category do you want to ride in.

Then there's spokes! Good spokes are not cheap too, eg. DT Swiss and some are even colored.

Better change my comment. Rather not go into war. Too old liao. No, I am not a seller but just an old rider who has also formerly got into the component chase. Change and upgrade and change everything. The best XTRs and XTs this, Gary Fisher this, then never use up to 20 percent of it's potential. Just want gaya only. Later, when the hangat hangat tahi ayam over, the bike rested on the wall and finally all dis-assembled and sold off via Lelong. tongue.gif blush.gif

Let's talk rims, do you bunny hop or do the table top? I doubt so. In that case any rims will do right? Do you do full sommersault? I doubt that too. biggrin.gif For that even the original rims from XDS bike will suffice.

I have personally seen riders hang out their 2 mtbs on their roof racks, drive to KSH bike in TTDI. Then hunt for parking space in front or double park and then have a drink at the mamak beside it. After that they drive home. Have you seen it? I did. tongue.gif

Nolarr! tongue.gif No internet issue. Just sometimes users comment without even knowing someone. Anyway, I don't know anyone from the forum here, why get flusttered, right? I have my own family to tend to also, incidently all 4 of us including wifey still rides. Maybe someday I meet this username and see and also learn from his riding. Who knows, I might call him sifu. icon_rolleyes.gif

Your youth was wasted buying parts without knowing what were they for.
