fork setting is easy one. as much ada 3 setting to do

1. fork plushness
spring vs air.

2. fork rebound
controls the speed at which your fork returns after being compressed by a bump. too fast, fork springy like a pogo stick. too slow, your fork is sluggish and sometime cannot recover to full extension quickly between bumps it will become progressively shorter in travel

3. fork compression
controls the speed your fork compresses or reacts to a bump. too little: fork blow through travel. Too much: feel harsh, and it won't make full travel on the fast, big bumps

so my suggestion is just, set everything at middle. then go ride, if you think:
1. you're diving at multiple drops - increase rebound
2. diving at cornering - increase rebound
3. hard to pedal, loosing speed- increase rebound
4. landing after drop but rear wheel sliding everywhere, and almost endo - reduce rebound
5. getting arm pump after going through roots etc - reduce compression
6. wanna go faster - increase rebound, increase compression, dont masturbate the day before ride

in the end: actual setting is down to rider preference.

we can talk about bikes until the chicken balik rumah but this gal uses her giant glory DH bike as her everything bike

DH not less. cuma in malaysia, there are 2 kind of riders satu weekend warriors and satu hardcore riders. when we built tracks we always wanna make it bigger and tougher but weekend warriors complain sebab if jatuh then monday cannot go to work. so we're kinda stuck with the mediocre kiara / pcp track. and the gavmen have no help in downhill mtb so thats sad.

so if you look at indonesia and thailand, all the DH tracks are for hardcore riders and ada a big backing from their gavmen. hobbist can take chicken route. and when ada competition, up to 400-500 riders will participate.

the things is if you wanna ride, just ride. dont think to much. if you have no money, just get a DJ bike. you wait and kumpul duit damn buang masa just go and shred the trail!

not really la. Kiara was a success because the TRAX dudes used their last and final ace card. Ex PM Badawi.

onna my friends are using Dampf. tak habis habis complement on the tyres. wet and dry awesome. cuma the price aje. RM300 per piece is mad.

and Saint pedals are for low bottom bracketers usually for DH riders. AM / XC riders dont use la. i use deity 3 years dy and they're awesome clank clank kena batu and akar but everything is cool. tapi kena shins bila crash sangat tak awesomee hahaha

u know when you say DH, its Downhill, hence we (everyone here in the forum) presume its a downhill bike. triple crown madness, dual sus with low bottom bracket, 2.5 inch tyres, no FD and 20kg+. i had 2 demos and wanna kayuh around perumahan also wanna die lagi nak ride from PJ to kiara.

went down this yesterday. gosh. everything was so steep the whole way down gunung jerai. just hold on tight and pray that i didnt bang into anything



obviously i didnt prayed hard enough tho. hahah videos tgh upload btw

trail was about 8km and about 6-5 foot wide. but since its pristine so there was no well marked line. pandai pandai you la. so memang mata kena tengok 4 metres depan. nak elak pokok and stuff since my bars are 33" DH bars. BWAHAHAHA

the terrain was very rough. root garden all the way with big huge rocks in between. most of the time you have to gap the rocks if not you're gonna sangkut at the roots if you're going too slow. roots from as big as my thigh to lengan big. it was fun la once you get the momentum and just ride as hard and fast as you can.

arrangement is like. park your car where we will ride down. then basikal sumbat dalam lori. then everyone naik van uplift sampai atas. rm16 each person. started at the gate at 10, finish at 12.30

lodgings up to you. i stayed in sungai petani. and it wont be turned into a bike park, but will be turned into a place where everyone can ride down with the gnarly extreme terrain. you cant cut the trees, so the kedah riders who have been clearing the place and make it rideable just clear the semak samun

yea man. although the Pike works perfectly for Kiara and PCP, it didnt hold up well for constant rooty downhill. i set the rebound at medium because i dont want it to be like a pogo, but the fork dived man.
