2k now is smooth like a butter ride, even on HT..

Yup...thats why I think its more an XC kinda trail ...HT is just nice for it hehehe....that s why I am not as rajin to go in 2K..apart from the first section hehehe....

With a FS the climbing part definitely not as easy when you use a HT hehehe

*
ehh...is depend on how deep u r in MTB world,
just like me start with louis garneau with Rm1500 few years back to built my interest in MTB world.
and today i ride specialized epic. in between had been changing few bikes.
choose a used good and well known bike wheres u easy to sell of in the futre or upgrade.
popular bike in msia, specialized,giant,scott,merida,kona,polygon,fuji...etc. here we dont talk another level like
santa cruz, yeti, intense...etc , where u cant buy complete bike with less then 8k..hehe..
try google kona.

1.5k-2.5k entree
3.0k-5.0k intermediate
5k-8k mid high end
8k to Extreme ...high end lioa

stretch your budget. Giant Talon 3 or Revel 0 are good.

Otherwise. No use asking how good is below 2k's bike. They are basically the same. Parts are the same. Frame geometry are the same.

End of the day. you will find riding a bike that you enjoy a lots or a bikes that you just complaint.

Happy Shopping.

hi moc...
hard tail i guess... whats the difference between them two?
budgets around 1-1.3k. is this amount sufficient for an average bike?
thanks
*
maybe you can try to get a second hand bike as a start up. then later only decide to further your intersted with a higher budget bike.

Choose the Price and color, you like most rclxms.gif
then ask/discuss with the sifu here (not me blush.gif ), below 2k don't need to ask. just buy if you like

no offense but true.

Is like a Japanese Cars VS Malaysia Cars. I never says Malaysian Car is bad. But you judge it by yourself.

Components are not the same. Please study more if you are serious. Google really has lots of information.

A good bike comes with Shimano XTR groupset and an entry level one should be at least a Shimano Deore.

It is simple. If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. biggrin.gif

True true in certain extend.
However, i've got another observation: the more "high end" boutique bike- normally come with low end components - unless u willing to pay exorbitant amount for their top variant of that model.

we can only get Alivio or Altus for a 5k spez. While a 6k XTC come with XT set n a 4.5k Fuji can also can come with XT.

Every one wanna get the best value out of their money.
My fren that re-ignited my interest of MTB, is still evaluating which MTB to buy since end of Feb. His budget was 2k .... and he is still evaluating endlessly. i've got pretty fed-up with him.

Ultimately, we all are going to enjoy the hobby.. we learn new thing.. and most important.. we met and make new friends! IMHO. Just spend within means. No point riding a very good bike but eat maggi at home. And riding a very good boutique brand doesn't turned us into a PRO though you may looks like one. If you really afford Rm 2k only. Settle with it but don't regret. Let's roll.. brows.gif

Trail Day:Magic Carpet 19/5/12 8am

Time to give back to Kiara...anyone here interested to join here are the details...

When - Saturday 19/5/12 8am - 12am (Sorry its not a Sunday, I'm tied up on Sunday)
Where - At the start of Magic Carpet trail
What to bring - Order of the day calls for cangkuls and rakes, plus work gloves to protect your hands. If you don't have any tools, contact me directly for an alternate meeting point and time to get you equipped. Sturdy shoes are recommended - no selipar Jepun or flip flops please. And of course mozzie repellent and enough water and trail snacks to get you through a four hour work session.

We will brief on what needs to be done on the day itself, but in general it will involve playing with dirt. Please be punctual, you'll miss the briefing if you don't and we will waste time to get you up to date on what needs to be done.

You can contact the organizer at riza.shaharudin at gmail.com to confirm attendance or if you have any questions.
