Hi Guys,

Need your advise on the dilemma i have. I'm stuck whether to study for P5 next sem because my F5 knowledge is basically zero as i passed this paper long time ago.

I have already sign up to attend lecturers for P3 for Dec 2012 exam.

What should i do? Shall i sign up for P5 class? Is it possible to study this paper without F5?

or Should i attend F5 class again as it helps P3 paper and defer doing P5 next June?

I only have P3 , P5 and P7 left to do and i want to finish fast but severely disadvatanged due to lack of knowledge of F5 and F8.

Pls advise. Thank you and All the best in your remaining exams.

Hi Guys,

Just wish to share this:

I'm planning to do my P3 with Mr.Jay from Inti College in Subang Jaya for dec 2012 exam.

Previously i have studied under him for P1 and i passed the paper at first attempt. Some of his tips came out in the exams.

He is going to teach P2 jointly with Mr Dee for Dec 2012 exam. He did not teach this paper last sem, so i dont know his teaching style for this paper but guess what , i happenned to read his P2 blog http://acca-p2.blogspot.com/ and was surprised to note that his tips on ED - liabilities came out in the exam 2 days ago!

Here is another blog of his of P3 http://j-p3.blogspot.com/

So guys, i may look like promoting him but honestly i just felt like sharing my experience and some info.

I took PS class last year(2011) for p1 and p3. The good thing is he will cover all. Sometimes the class is boring but both paper are theory paper. He will sometimes mention things repetitively , which is good for me. Since I tend to forget stuff. Jokes are here and there, laugh here and there. Fun times. The good thing is he sometimes check student works. He is an interesting lecturer and have great stories.

The bad thing is his class is always full one. Very stress to wake up in the morning for the sake to get a good seat. P3 syllabus is big or huge so there might be an added class at the end of the term just before the revision. Some people find the lecture boring but I find the lecture quite good la depending on the money I paid. It's just the ambience isn't good, too many people cramping into one class. P1 ethics chapters is also quite boring.

Luckily, I pass both papers under him. I don't know how but I did.

Hi there,

Could you tell me what study texts and revision kits they gave for P3 in KSA ? Was it BPP , GTG or Kaplan?

Thank you

Dear Bro,

I know Mr.Jay who has a teaching centre JPro Training http://www.jprotraining.blogspot.com/ starts some classes after results are out.

Some tuition providers like Elitejaya has bridging classes.

Hello,good monrning .

I would like to ask for P2 lecturer.
Sunway , Ms Menon
Elitejaya, Ms Mary Edwin
(haneef and navzar currenly only for resit course)
KSA, Joe fang
Bandar college,yap kok wah
Spencer

Which one are preferable?
Sunway fee was expensive o.normal class+P2A class+application fee,reg fee and deposit already RM 3170 exclude exam fee.

Anyone can provide me some guide?

I have been to Spencer's class before. His teaching is ok but he doesnt cover everything,so you need to study on your own also.

I attended Mr.Jay's P1 classes at Inti, SJ. It's quite surprising to read some of your comments about him.

Well, i guess "One man's meat is another man's poison" rings true in this case then!

Sorry mate... i dont have any tips but u still have 4 weeks to do ur P2! So put up a game plan and then revise and PRACTISE Questions for 12 hours a day If you really want to pass this paper!!!!

Know all ur standards, ED etc well! Know all ur SOFP,SOCI,Cashflow,Foreign currency transactions formats and know how to deal with the groups!!!

Keep A positive mind..... You cant beat yourself like this at the last minute!!!! YOU CAN DO IT MAN!!! U think negative, you will get a negative outcome becoz u'r emitting a negative energy around u and so the universe responds back to u negatively.... So think positive and work smart!!

And pls, pls, pls....do the questions within time limit and answer every parts of the questions!!!! I followed the Bpp revision kit advise given on page xii - passing P2 and passed the paper at 1st attempt last sitting!

ALL the Best!

@Propernormal

i think P5 as it is right now, the chance of passing it is lower than taking p6

u'll nvr noe what type of question alex watt ( is he still the examiner?) will set

candidates are having hard time(i assume?) to tackle the paper

p6 is safer choice .. just do more questions and self revision ...
*
Thank you Tzxsean. Shall i buy the F6 (Mys) book and start studying from now so that when i sign up for classes for P6 in Jan, it will be easier? What is the recommended textbook for F6 since i know there is no BPP textbook right? Any lecturer that you can recommend that it will be easier for me to follow through since its a malaysian variant?

Thank you once again for the kind advise.

agree..p5 syllabus is okay, just that the questions are so unpredicatable...if Propernormal is full time student im sure P6(MYR) wouldnt be a problem for him/her.

Hi Yee88,

Im planning to look for a job next year which means it will be a part time study. So would it be difficult then? Work part i have no choice as i need to work to support my studies now.

Once again, thank you for all the advise given.

Hi Guys,

I need some assuarances. I dont have a degree just Form 6 but have finished 13 papers in ACCA so far. Now, im studying for P6(UK) on my own since Jan.

I believed finishing ACCA would give me a better chance in getting a job anywhere with good salary increment over time.

But i'm not sure whether me not having a basic degree would jeopardise this chance.

Is it enough to have just an ACCA qualification to work in Malaysia , Singapore , Australia or do i have to finish a degree after ACCA?

Unfortunately , i'm not young though!

And Mr.Hrevijay,
I read you're studying at Kaplan UK atm. Do you know whether the lecturer for P6 UK is good? I intend to purchase the online revision classes but the fees are quite high.

Thank you.

I could check for you. The problem is the lecturers who do physical classes are not the same as the ones who do the online program. In any case, it's quite peculiar that you choose to do UK tax variant, then work in Malaysia.

Can you clarify why you are doing P6 (UK), are you going overseas?  If you plan to do your taxation in Malaysia, it would be better to do P6 Malaysia.  If you are looking for a challenge, then P6 (UK) is excellent since the (Malaysia) version is reasonably easier.  I loved it when I did P6 (11) UK, it really brings out the consulting mindset.

Try buying the BPP / Kaplan online solution, I read in the UK forums, that was a better choice compared to LSBF.

In terms of getting a good salary and job - you have to make sure you get the right experience track and brand name in terms of employment.  If you had to hire an accounting staff - which would you prefer - 3 years in Big 10 firm or 3 years in a firm that is not known?

Branding yourself with the right experience and employment history goes far in the corporate world, unless you have cables. Then it is a different story.
*
Thanks Frodo.

I plan to work in Malaysia now but have some plans of moving to overseas in the future. So , yes, it's for pure challenge and interests that i'm pursuing the UK variant. However, i'm very open in doing Malaysian variant if the need arises. How difficult would Malaysian taxation be as compared to the UK taxation! Anything is doable as long as one puts in the dedication and determination. Besides, when one wants to work overseas, u still have to learn the tax and/or audit rules of that country.Nothing lost, just added knowledge gained.

You have no reason to worry about that. Those students that took the "CAT/FIA to ACCA" route have no degree cert as well with most only a SPM cert.(excluding those that opt for Oxford Brooke) All that matters is you graduate as an ACCA affiliate.

Basically with a degree in your hand, your employer will need you to be professionally certified(i.e through ACCA,CPA,ICAEW and such) to enable you to climb up the corporate ladder, thus the salary increment.
However, if you are already a certified chartered accountant with relevant working experience, a degree simply doesn't matters anymore.
Good luck in your P6 this siting. Too bad i am taking m'sia variant smile.gif

Greetings,

Need some suggestion as to which books to buy(name of author) and where can i get them more cheaply? I'm looking for Malaysian Taxation study text and revision kit for self study purpose. Not to sit for exams but to have some general knowledge.

Thank you.

Thank you guys for the suggestions for the Tax book. Just wish to share my experiences.

I passed P1 (53) and P2 (65) by attempting all the questions in the exams.

I passed P3 (57) and P7 (52) but missed completing 14 marks in P3 and 23 marks in P7 due to short of time. Though they are not great marks at least i am grateful that i got a pass.

What really matters is how u perform during exam time under pressure and how well u have written the answers overall (ie answering what they have asked) and you must keep a positive mind throughout the exam.

Even when it looks so tough when u read the exam paper, u must stay positive and convince yourself that you will give your best shot to get a pass!
