QUOTE(mayonnaiseeeee @ Aug 14 2013, 11:05 PM) sorry i afraid i'm repeating the question. i did do some searchings but quite impossible to read through all posts. please help out. i beg you guys lol. Hi , i just pass my p1 and currently taking p3 and thinking to do p2 next sem. able to get some ideas about joe fang in the forum but min info about spencer. how's him? i'm very much risk averse so most probably will escape joe due to his conso method. opt out sunway because it's too expensive. is spencer ok? or any other lecturers? it's 2013 so some comments might not be applicable anymore as well. thank you guys! I have been to Spencer's P2 classes before and passed 65% first attempt. SOME of his notes are in mind maps. He discusses important topics but does not cover ALL in the class. So, i studied the whole BPP text book on my own. He discusses some questions in the class but i did the Revision Kit on my own thoroughly. End of the day his mindmaps did help me to remember as questions came out in these areas in my exam diet. But my own studies helped me too as some of the current issues that he did not cover, i had studied already and helped me to pass the vital Q4 in my exam diet. In my exam diet, his tips were not accurate but if you had studied ALL and had enough practised of questions under exam time, one can pass this paper. |

QUOTE(frodo baggin @ Sep 5 2013, 10:07 AM) Those doing your ACCA, do consider going to coursera and getting additional certs from the TOP AMERICAN universities. Thank you for this information, Mr.Frodo. Any other universities we should look for that you can recommend apart from Wharton? It seems that you can now study what you want when you want for free - a small fee if you want to get the certificate from the organisation. I think it is a great way to add value to your skill set and get certified on you area of specialism. ACCA students that are doing 1 or 2 papers this semester can consider getting some additional certificate - Wharton certificate for finance or marketing (foundation in MBA) is only RM150ish. You get a professor to teach you and participate with all the activities. In my opinion, the world of education is getting ready for a huge change due to to wave of free educators coming online. www.coursera.org This post has been edited by Propernormal: Sep 6 2013, 10:00 AM |

QUOTE(mayonnaiseeeee @ Oct 14 2013, 03:38 PM) hey everyone! mind giving some ideas? Hi there, now i'm thinking how to do my P3 revision. parminder has 4 sets of note and i've finished up to the 3rd one before attended michael mainwaring's mock test yesterday which i got a really bad marks. i haven't started michael's bluff note. and now i got a new plan after seeing my terrifying mock test score. i'd only do first 3 sets of parminder notes which i've done, thinking not to study his 4th book (note). then directly move to michael's bluff note and finish it before his irc in November. after michael irc i'll straight away focus on pyq. i.e. i'll skip parminder 4th note. and this makes me worry. so my question is : is michael bluff note comprehensive enough? i find parminder notes too messy. really messy. he should seriously thinking of updating his notes. i've gone through carefully his first 3 notes but his 4th notes is thick and i have yet to start and i think it's better for me to invest my time on michael bluff note and pyq. do you guys find my plan risky as i just depends on michael irc notes for some topics (which covered in parminder 4th note).. at this point of time what i want is just a pass. ideas please. thank you very much! Let me share with you my experience. I studied P3 under Parminder and P7 under Sheila and i passed both with not so great marks. But glad that i passed atleast! Parminder notes were quite a lot but i found that i could understand them better than reading BPP or reading the bluff notes of Michael. I failed P3 when i self studied using BPP and went to IRC under Michael and inspite of using his bluff notes, i could not understand enough and therefore failed at 44! So, i attended Parminder's classes and studied his notes and saw the way he had answered the past year questions and tried and practised his style of writing the answer rather that following the style shown in the BPP revision kit! I passed at 57 marks! What i went through was, Parminder finished teaching 7 chapters in the course of 4 months and he finished the remaining 7 chapters by teaching us in the course of 2 days from 9.00am till 10.00pm in the last week of October.Mind you it was a challenge for me to understand these last 7 chapters as he taught us so fast in 2 days!! So, i drew up my timetable to study and revise and do PYQ for Nov - Monday - 7.00am to 8.30am do PYQ of P3 - 8.45am to 10.00am do PYQ of P7 10.30am to 1.30pm study, understand and memorise a chapter in P3 2.00pm to 5.00pm continue if not finished with chapter 7.00pm to 9.00pm do PYQ of P3 9.30pm to 11.30pm do PYQ of P7 12.00am sleep Tuesday - 7.00am to 8.30am do PYQ of P3 - 8.45am to 10.00am do PYQ of P7 10.30am to 1.30pm study, understand and memorise a chapter in P7 2.00pm to 5.00pm continue if not finished with chapter 7.00pm to 9.00pm do PYQ of P3 9.30pm to 11.30pm do PYQ of P7 12.00am sleep And i continued like this until i made sure that i have done all the PYQs and revised all the notes of P3 and P7 ----mind you that - i had to attend 3 days of Parminder's revision class in Nov as well as studied his revision notes - i had to revise all of Ms.Sheila's notes that came in so many, many books as well as attend her revision classes for 1 week in Nov and sit for her Mock exams twice in the month of Nov!!!i Failed in one of her mock exams closer to one week before exam....can u imagine how i must have felt!!! Well....i went ahead with determination and passed P7 with 52 marks!! Not great but glad! I studied fulltime but i believe if you are just doing it Part time ---- then you must be determined to do a Timetable and put in all the chapters u must revise (learning the models and understanding is very important for P3) and do all the PYQs. For me, the difference between using the BPP revision kit and Parminder's answers for his PYQs ----> BPP's answers were too complex for me to understand whereas i could understand the style of Parminder's answers. Dec 2012 P3 paper was very tough for me....in fact i did not finish doing the exam questions but because i understood his notes and his way of answering the questions -----> i followed his style and applied when answering the questions....it was extremely beneficial for me to memorise and remember Parminder's mnemonics as i used them in order to answer questions....when it was relevent to use them. Michael's bluff notes - if you have understood models and theories well , then his notes would be a summarised version or shall i say----> it will be for those who have a very good understanding of everything in P3 already before using Michael's notes!!! Goodluck! This post has been edited by Propernormal: Oct 15 2013, 10:44 PM |

QUOTE(mayonnaiseeeee @ Oct 15 2013, 11:12 PM) Yes. You will get 1 book that might contain 10 PYQs (50 marks) and 22 PYQs (25 marks) with his style of answering the questions and he might say that he gave this book out to you only now (ie during revision class) and not earlier to practise , because that's how it will be in the exam time, when you will get to see the exam questions for the first time. One last piece of advice, dont forget to read P3 technical articles as i personally remembered reading something about Strategic planning in an age of turbulence, Benchmarking articles etc etc and i used these info in my answers where relevant in the exam. I also used Parminder's many examples / mnemonics esp IT related info when i answered the Q2 part (b) in the Dec 2012 paper. I also used the style of Parminder's answers on Risk Management when i answered Q4 in Dec 2012 paper. |
