My exam status states that i'm opted into obu but in fact i have not yet completed F4. O.O
Does it mean that even i fail F4 this time i would still be opted in if i passed F7??
*
QUOTE(junggle @ Jun 6 2012, 11:49 PM)
normally people would have to pass f4 to opt in  cool2.gif  cool2.gif
*
you will be opted in by default when you register for ACCA, i was opted in automatically after i completed CAT.

however if you pass F7 this time and you failed F4, your OBU is gone since you have to pass F4 before F7/8/9

Do you know how to annualize the RI and ROI??
i just simply timed 12. =.='''
*
You should be concentrating on the upcoming papers instead of looking back on f5. You should accept the fact that ACCA is not really that easy afterall, otherwise its cert will be worthless.

So from now on put in more effort in the coming papers. Familiarise yourself with ACCA,style of questions, exam techniques etc

Worse怂I think F6 was more easier, 10 times, than F5.
Really gave up the wrong paper.
Haha.
*
if you ask me to rank, i will tell you the difficulty level for F level, from the easiest to the most difficult

F4 -> F6 -> F7 -> F5 -> F9 -> F8

it is still dependable on individual knowledge. F6 may be easy on the prima facie but sometimes the answer may be very tricky. I remembered i answered a question on F6, it was bout a non movable partition. I know that it cannot claim CA, therefore did not claim CA for it but then i forgot that the company is a manufacturer, IBA will apply then.

read questions carefully is very important

Hey nick, do u still remember how much u wrote for f4? Do we need to write averagely 2 pages for each question to really score? Because so far my answers are about 1 page to 1 1/2 only....
*
Some questions are quite straight forward, no need to write a lot. It depends on the requirement of the question. Some needs explanation will need to write longer. Those who requires you to give examples, it can be quite simple.

Look at the marks allocated to determine how much to write for each part of the question. Sometimes if you write too much for a question, you will end up not enough time to attempt other questions

I'm taking P6 this sitting. It's my last paper and this is the 3rd attempt!!!! I want to pass this round!!!!

Btw, want to ask you all, is the pen 0.7mm is really so important? I used to 0.5mm. How?? suddenly change like not so comfortable with sad.gif
*
I used 0.5mm and 0.38mm Pilot G1 or G2 to answer questions in the past, no issue at all. Now it is recommended to use ball pen instead of ink pen

They said need to be thick. 0.7mm is the best and avoid 0.5mm. Please tell me that they are people using 0.5mm every sitting and can pass.  rclxms.gif

ok..thanks for giving me the confident. Thanks! all the best everyone!!!  rclxm9.gif

I dont use 0.7mm. Therefore 0.5mm is definitely fine for exam. Write neatly, clear and with proper grammar, you can gain marks from there.

just took f5 yesterday and f6 today.......in another 14 hours gonna take f7....then f4 next week....so far i honestly think i fail f5 and f6. last year already fail f4-6 and if this time fail again all 4 papers i seriously might consider giving up acca sad.gif
*
QUOTE(Barack Obama @ Jun 13 2012, 02:48 AM)
cuz of the people around me.....we started cat-acca at same time and im now behind by 1.5-2 years because i failed so many times cry.gif
yeah the f6 today was.....well.....right before the exams i studied few questions from many years ago and turns out they came out basically the same but i still end up forgetting how to do them even though i did the similar question right before the exam....tax is just too much to read..ZZzzz

last minute basically is my middle name sweat.gif
from CAT til ACCA now ive always spend 5.5 months enjoying life and the remaining .5(2 weeks) looking through the revision books.(usually for 3-4papers in 2 weeks) doh.gif  doh.gif
and honestly......ive NEVER read(and complete) any textbooks before(except t5 of CAT)....usually before exams i just do the revision books and past years. Thats mainly because im not good at reading and especially focusing on so many words and processing the information. I lose focus when i start reading......but doing questions and working out the meanings in the questions is what most suits me.
but other than that i cant blame acca.....i look at myself and i know that acca is not that hard actually... if we spend enough effort and time on it that is.....so the problem lies with me with the laziness and last minute rush. sweat.gif  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
how to pass exam if you are not putting in enough effort? there's no point to be greedy, trying to take 4 papers at once is very difficult, somemore you only start revising 2 weeks before exam. you must understand the fact that CAT is far easier than ACCA. Seriously, i use at least 2 weeks to study each subject, while you use 2 weeks to study 4 subjects. you are my hero rclxms.gif

passing with 2 x 60 marks is always better than failing by 3 x 40 marks. don't try to be too heroic next round icon_idea.gif

thanks vin. Nervous for 2moro

the further I read into Richard Thorton's questions

the worse I feel bout writing part :S
*
richard thornton used real life examples from professional firm to test students, it was far too practical. even an experienced tax practitioner will take time to think of an answer, it was too difficult for students to answer within the 3 hours exam time. that's why the pass rates during his time as examiner was very low.

this is what my lecturer told me

not necessarily you will fail. in my previous attempt, i was very nervous too, time management was not very good but at least you write whatever you can, you can still pass.

other than that, no old members here have any grudge with me?

so funny that I only have problems with newer active members here?

or be precise...4 of you?

You dont need to drag me in indirectly, i am just giving my opinion. There is no 100% working solution to pass ACCA Exam but at least we try different ways to increase our chances of passing. You dont buy my opinion, you can give your opinion but you dont need to discourage the other members here.

This is why txsean asked you all dont rely on tips, P2 examiner is very experienced, this time he caught you all off guard. Provided you have done well in Q1, passing this paper will not be too difficult

Thanks, that means i can still take F8 and P2 as there is no much relation between P1 and P2? another reason i wish to take P2 is tat i think i will have more time this sitting, and heard that p2 is difficult. and if take P2 and P3 next year June sitting it will be two days back to back. thanks for your advice.
*
if you take F8 and P1 together, your answer for F8 regarding Corporate Governance and ACCA Code of Conducts will be much better.

hi.. just wondering.. is P1 & P3 a good combo.. thanks...
*
both also covers business/business environment. P1 has something more which are those moral philosophies/ethics. P3 you need to learn and apply some business models, now it comes with some calculations as well. P1 can combo with F8 or P3

QUOTE(EverLearner @ Jun 20 2012, 03:05 PM)
thanks both(how to reply to two posts at the same time?)

really nid to think abt it. i m studying part time so really nid to plan my time carefully.

what abt P3, does it require alot of effort and time to study?
*

P3 is easy provided you understand how businesses work. You will learn some models in P3, make sure you know how to apply it in the exam and you must know how to explain those business cases given in questions. you may use your bull shxt skills in this paper to help you pass

i would say that P3 models are much easier than those moral philosophies in P1 and performance evaluation models in P5.

i don't know, hopefully  hmm.gif ... mentally prepared to study 200% this coming seating.. byebye tvb dramas  cry.gif

Last week I asked sunway bout the p2 courses and i noticed there is a p2a short course (rm690). i took f7 already, therefore exempted. she (the admin) says p2a is similar to f7 and i can consider joining if want...  my f7 scored just ngam ngam passed only  tongue.gif  and i practically forgotten what i studied..

is so worth to pay for p2a class? or i should just study some specific f7 chapters?
*
if you want full preparation to ensure yourself can pass 3 papers at once, then go for the p2a class.

i also had minimum F7 knowledge when i joined P2 class, could not even understand those simple IAS studied in F7. better to attend p2a so that you will understand what is taught in P2 class, otherwise you will doze off in class. hahaha
