It basically boil down to your surfing behavioral and general common sense.
Anyway, I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 now, seems solid. |

If you're using a licensed copy of Microsoft Windows, then just use Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and should work just fine.

I currently use Norton Internet Security 2012, it's has high detection malware/virus and low false positive result. Im not recommended MSE caused Microsoft no experience in security even they make the os.
I suggest you to read this review: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2369749,00.asp and choosing for the latest one is the best way This post has been edited by ariif97: May 20 2012, 05:10 PM |

I've been using Windows for so long, never once had to pay money for antivirus or any of that stuff. I use free antivirus like AVS (donkey years ago) then bounced over to AVG, then Avast. Now Avast becomes more adware-friendly (that fking no good Google Chrome) I switched once again to Avira. I'm not a celibate monk so I do frequent all the usual "hum" sites. Despite all the hum sites, Russian, China, Japan, you name it, I never once got hit so hard I needed hard disk formatting. I somehow never got hit with Jambanmu when it was spreading all over Malaysia. Completely missed that. When I saw it on my friend's set, I was like, WTF. Is this virus from Malaysia? You very boleh man.
That's why I'm curious why people need to pay for antivirus. Any thoughts? |

You very boleh man. I suggest you to reading antivirus test and antivirus reviews and compare between the paid antivirus with free antivirus. Most paid antivirus will give better protection than free antivirus, trust me.That's why I'm curious why people need to pay for antivirus. Any thoughts? But there are free antivirus better than the paid-up, such as Comodo (I know these brands are rarely heard, but it will give good protection to the computer but it is far better than Avira and Avast) This is antivirus/internet security overall rating by PcMag and was test by Neil J. Comodo's detection rate is TOO TOO GOOD, sorry to say. In fact the same goes for Avira. But I'm sticking by it now because Avast pissed me off with their Google Chrome partnership strategy. |
