hope it doesn't works like Forte's one. (if has keyless entry)

20 seconds to get in the car. lol

Could u describe in detail why it needs 20 seconds to get in the car? Keyless entry is used to access the car in an easier & faster way..if need 20 seconds, it sounds like the other way round.. hmm.gif

Have to place the key near to the push start button or place it in the key holder then only can start the engine.

^^Yeah, I need to digest this too. I've tested the 508's keyless entry & start stop system and find it quite cool. Never need to get keys out of pocket. So how's the Forte's?
*
It works just like that..no need to even touch the smartkey. Just left the key in your pocket/handbag/laptop bag/plastic bag(lol) that u are carry along & u are good to enter & start the car..no mess whatsoever...& if u stay on the driver's side of the car, the whole car can be unlocked by u on that side only (by pressing the button on the driver's door handle)..if let say got another person (or perhaps a thief) in the passenger side at the same time, the car cant be unlocked at that side (passenger side) though that person press the button on the door handle (at the passenger door)..it was a safety measure..cool huh! whistling.gif

I wish Proton Preve Keyless Entry & Start/Stop Button functioning as good as this if not better nod.gif

forte's owner complain abt its push start sometime have problem
and its not the pushstart's problem...its the brake switch that causes it to have problem
*
Yupp..that's true. Many Forte owners facing this issue..it's the brake switch that fails the ignition as we need to press the brake pedal + push the start button to start the car. When the brake switch failed (malfunction), the car cannot detect that the brake pedal is being pressed, hence the car will not start. This issue is easily solved by the SC anyway. & if the brake switch did fail for whatever reason, there's still an alternative way to start the car without pressing the brake pedal..it's just a simple 2-step procedure. Treat this procedure as a fail safe mechanism when the standard starting procedure is failed..cool huh! biggrin.gif

thn i think thats why proton gone for the key
insert key is way easier plus more secure...only the key owner can start it
once the car detects the key + immobilizer...thn can push start
*
Hmm..sort of defeat its purpose i have to say if the key is still need to be inserted in order to start the car..might as well use back the conventional turn-key ignition tongue.gif In Forte, the only time we need to insert the smartkey into the key fob (during starting) is when the smartkey's battery is running out of power (hence weak signal from the smartkey for the car to detect it). & of course, the owner still need to bring the smartkey to start the car (though the smartkey's battery is already out of power)..else the car wont start if it cannot sense the smartkey in the key fob...

i think a key is still the best
cuz not only for the engine
its for the door as well...fail safe
if the alarm doesn't work, the key will still work...theres no keyhole on the door but if not wrong, there is but its hidden behind the side of the door handle(theres a logo of a "key" there")
and a better way since they know forte's problem...instead later ppl bash proton say same problem with forte...thn they use a better easier way...which is the key
*
Yupp..absolutely right. Forte also got manual key inside the smartkey if in case u didnot know : http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2594/413798...312ebcc1c_o.jpg

& also got keyhole on the door so that we can use the manual key to manually open the door if the smartkey fails for whatever reason..cool huh! brows.gif

How i wish Proton Preve got this improvement for its smartkey system..the car will stop by itself if it sense the absent of smartkey in the car. Forte do not have this features for sure..if u start the car (Forte) & somehow leave the car unlock, someone else can just went into the car & drive it as far as he want it (though the smartkey is with u), as long as he did not stop the engine sweat.gif however, the same scenario also applies to the conventional turn-key car whistling.gif worst still, the key is in the car (in the key slot/hole)..lol

Thanks for the input guys. Btw, izputra, if my company is taking the loan for me, do know what do I need? My accounts seem to be a bit clueless in this area sweat.gif

Also, if submit salary slip, proton will do the loan for you? I thought loan have to take yourself?

Btw, guys, we're here to talk about the car - not each person's political preference - there's RWI for that. Keep it clean lah. Later thread gets closed liao sweat.gif
*
Your company taking the loan for u..do u mean that u took the loan from your company to buy this car?

Yupp..i ask the SA to survey several banks that can provide me loan with the best interest rate..& at the end, i'm the one who decide which bank i will choose. At the same time (& if got free time), i will survey by myself at the banks. But, it's quite hard to determine the confirm interest rate since that Proton yet to finalized the car price.

QUOTE(mat79 @ Mar 28 2012, 08:30 AM)
he...he...i'm not insider by the way. The question is, how fast u want to drive the car?
Example, in exora bold cfe, with nearly 1.5 tonne body, less aerodynamic than p3. Cfe already can launch it at speed beyond 200kmh. If beyond 200kmh is not enough, then, i think this car will not suit u. Talking about hp numbers, yes, the bigger, the better, but, let say, in the same car, same cc engine, one is 100hp, another one is 120hp, how much that 20hp translate to kmh? Just around 5-10kmh only. Back to the question, how fast the better hp car achieve the speed?

A common mass production car is not built for speed. It is more on usable power. For even 1.6 turbo(except race prepared car), speeding beyond 180kmh is a stress n it takes time to achieve speed beyond 200kmh.

Safe to say that based on info i gathered from prtn, speeding to 180kmh is effortless for a 1.6 car, even comparable with many 2.0 na cars.

As i mentioned above, if u r constantly drive beyond 180kmh, need speed more than 200kmh everytime u hit the fast lane, the car is not for u. But if U just need to speed beyond 180kmh only when it needed, or just for fun once a while, then, it will be rewarding.

Erm. No. It's sort of a company car laugh.gif So the loan will be paid for by the company. Wondering how the dynamics work though...

Anyways, I didn't know that the SA could do that. Quite interesting. I guess I'll just ask our branch lor if that's the case biggrin.gif True about the price. A bit hard to find out the correct interest rate sweat.gif

A bit of a silly question - doesn't matter right whom I book the car with? No added frills for different SAs right?

Thanks for the info man smile.gif
*
Hmm..if that's the case..advise no more..no experience yet for such purchase blush.gif

SA usually will have contacts on loan's officer at the several banks..they can easily find out the interest rate for u for each bank. But the car price yet to be confirmed by Proton, so the interest rate also not fix yet.

For me as a customer, i have all my rights to choose which SA to serve me (through all car buying processes). If i feel that one particular SA serving me well & competent enough during my showroom visit, i straight away book with him. Else, i might end up with any other SA of my choice if that particular SA is incompetent or did not entertain me well...

U can even ask the SA to check trade-in price for your old car (if in case u want to trade-in the old car)..but surely the trade-in price is well below the market price sweat.gif As in my case, i can trade in my wife's Kenari at 19k..but if i'm able to sell the Kenari to direct buyer, i might get at least extra 3-4k (22-23k) in price
