there are some leather spray that could reduce the absorption of UV rays. Like that not only your leather seats will stay shiny, it lasts longer and wont feel hot too.
*
Hmm..already tinted my car wholly with a tinting film that rejects 99% of UV & Forte windows also come with UV rejection properties. I believe that should helps..& i also believe that the heat is still penetrates in a form of infra red rays that heats the car's internal. According to my tinting film specs, it will also rejects 95% of infra red rays. That explain why my car need to be parked long enough under the sun before the internal heated up...

your SA bought fake/synthetic/PU/whatever leather ??? hahahaha

no matter what put under the sun sure will be hot or warm. aiyo some love leather some love fabric... vmad.gif

i love my car, i park most of the time indoor.

The leather seat came with a car..it's a CBU car..So I dont know what type/grade of leather did the Korean use in the Forte.. sweat.gif Anyway, if u or spouse or kids suffer from allergic becoz of dust/airborne particles, using leather seat surely helps

Bro, actually the best way to gauge a tint is to look at the TSER, total solar energy rejection. it is the best parameter to look for heat rejection..

Infrared and UV is just a part of the sunlight.

hope this helps.
*
Yes..u absolutely right. Now i remember back the correct term..TSER. Thank u for enlighten me smile.gif

for tint...UVR% are usually 99%
the IRR%...if it comes originally with the car...its not gonna be 95%(even if u install outside will not be that high as well, cuz it will make it quite dark)
cuz the car manufacturer have to comply with the JPJ rules
so the IRR% if comes originally is around 50%+- only
*
Err..u talk about VLT right? Visible Light Transmission...

This link might be useful..brand aside http://www.ecotint.com/p_commercial.html

yes...but as an OEM tint, the IRR won't be as high as 95% as well
those are thousand RM tint
the most that i see that is from OEM tint...their IRR is only 50+-% only...nothing higher, they won't give u such good tint
unless the tint isn't included and the SA install it for u

if its OEM..even if they really give u such tint, workmanship is a problem as well
*
Actually i installed the 6 mil security tint film (thousand RM tint..hehe) with UVR 99% & IRR 95% properties on all my car's windows & windscreen. However, Forte's windows already came with some sort of UV reduction glass as standard..not a tint obviously. & this UV reduction glass is meant to reduce the UV rays only (not sure up to what % also) & not to reduce the infra red rays (which refers to IRR) as far as i know...

The tint in on windows only right? but not for the windshields..anyone can clarify?

Edited : My bad..already read the so-called 'Preve specs sheet' posted previously..from my understanding the premium Preve come with security tint film for all windows & windshileds thumbup.gif Hopefully it is true...

if it is the case, it will be good, as the ones for the inspira were from proton(ECOTINT), and the security tint is better than that of the camry/prius and altis.

Inspira uses the 6mil ray barrier signature class, if preve is using it then it'll be great.

smile.gif
Based on the inspira specs, they also put security tint, but only for 4 windows as they are bounded by law to adhere to the VLT. however, the rear and windscreen are tinted as well, but to conform with the JPJ standards, they have a slightly lower TSER.
*
Good info bro smile.gif i do hope that Preve come with it..no need to fork out extra money for tinting when i got (my wife actually) the car later on.

When i installed the security tint on my Forte previously, i use 6 mil for all windows + rear windshield. For front windshield, the installer suggest me to use max 3 mil only as anything beyond that might introduce problem to Smart Tag signal to penetrate or perhaps GPS device might having difficulties to lock-up the satellite signal. Considering his recommendation, i ended up with 3 mil tint film for front windshield..& i have to say that both my Smart Tag & in-dash GPS works well...

Actually it is better not to use it on windscreen. The reason is because if you happened to drop inside the water, how are you going to survive, you cant even open the door so the only way is to break the window and chow, now you have security tinted windscreen, how are you going to break it. No way, you are going to die inside the car but before that, let's just open the air-cond and your music to listen to.

Also, the robbery normally break your side windows and take ur item and just run away, they wont or hardly break your windscreen because there's a big distance as your car hood is there, they might have to climb to get inside the cockpit of the car.

my 2 cent

Good thinking..& i also thought about this scenario (touch wood) before i decided to install the security tint. So I always brought along a heavy steering lock & a small rambo knife..hopefully i have enough time (& strength) to slash/tear the tint film & smash the window/windshield using the heavy steering lock. Ya..i have to agree that this is the worst case scenario that we should think of.

By the way..i've heard or read somewhere before..it is much easier to break a window with a security tint if we smash it from inside rather than outside..is it proven? Can anybody shed some light about this? rolleyes.gif

u can smash it and then use swiss knife to cut through, but be careful, coz then police want to search your car and found the knife they will charge u for weapon possession i think.

better to carry an oxygen tank just in case we drove into rivers. which is how much % will that gonna be happen?

hmm better get a sunroof car, can open and swim out.
or modified the car to have eject just like fighter jet.
*
It's just a small knife only..about 4" long..but it is sharp..hehe. Hopefully the police wont charge me sweat.gif

& yaa..the % is very low though it's not impossible to happen..touch wood!
