QUOTE(kysham @ May 13 2012, 10:39 AM) If you set the wb properly, then this would not be an issue. Normally in studio environment, you can fix the wb instead of setting it to awb. I usually set wb to 5500K for studio shoots. But still depends on the strobes used. you mean that actually is not false of the flash exposure, angle, but the camera itself of the AWB may change due to the sensor sensing environment lighting. in that case, better i manually set it to 5500K as well

QUOTE(albnok @ May 13 2012, 01:23 PM) jimlim007: When the camera is in AWB and it knows that flash is used, it will always use Flash WB which is 5500K anyway. So if there is a WB difference, that is because of ambient light (modelling light from the studio lights are usually 3200K) or because the studio walls are not pure white or gray, so when you bounce, the flash has a color. thank albnok for the good hint. is this common as you say camera know flash is using, but in exif it capture as flash no fire? just notice shutter speed is 1/250 sync in exif This post has been edited by jimlim007: May 13 2012, 03:20 PM

QUOTE(ieR @ May 13 2012, 10:18 PM) albnok: jimlim is using a some trigger with some brand studio lights. (camera didnt detect trigger as flash) in that case
jimlim: when u use a trigger, the camera does not know its with Flash. hence the AWB will still read the environmental light, so since the modeling light is tungsten light, it will cause the camera AWB to switch to Tungsten WB, that causes white flash appear blue-ish.
so, you need to set the WB accordingly. and u will notice WB color shift when using low vs high power with studio light, because only handful of studio light can product consistent flashWB strobe, even branded like elinchrome cant produce consistent WB (reason why i sold mine and switch to sony flashes)
Added on May 13, 2012, 10:19 pmrupa-rupa camera cant detect moonlight flash, I just get it! thank! so far, i did not purposely run strobe test to check the flash wb consistency, hope it perform well regardless strobe or flash gun, sometime need to use either one to into fit the environment and condition, what i watch in video say.

QUOTE(ieR @ May 15 2012, 12:35 PM) albnok, only handful of branded strobe has minor variance. the minor is less then 400k, which, not much diff, usually on the cool side. and short t5 time (able to do water droplet even at 1/60 speed, since the light already freezes the image. but for huge strobe, the variance is crazy, i had to set wb to 4400 m2 for my elinchrome(sold) for lower 1/32 power! and 6200k at full power~ and worst if your have 2 strobe on diff power, ur WB will mmmkay up. that why i sold it wahahaha~ and big NO to china strobe T.T stick with flashgun better, can shoot outdoor too... beach(or coffee shop) is 10 times better then plain studio. haha on paper all brands are with +/- 200K or 250K, but in reality is unknown how true of it

previously target samyang 85 1.4 for portrait in apsc body, but recently see sigma annouced 105 2.8 OS+HSM+Macro+WS, although its behind 2stop of light compare to samyang, is 105mm suit for portrait? or the this macro lens suit for portrait as well?

fuuyoo! pro siao sugaring! Added on May 23, 2012, 8:44 pmQUOTE(albnok @ May 23 2012, 04:56 PM) I tried the Canon 100mm F2.0 on a 1.6x body which makes it 160mm on full-frame. It was a weird focal length. 105mm on a 1.5x body would be 157.5mm on full-frame, very near and still quite weird. 85mm on FF, and 85mm on APS-C, is very natural. okay stick back to samyang 1st haha.. thx albnok This post has been edited by jimlim007: May 23 2012, 08:44 PM

QUOTE(Gmruleme @ May 30 2012, 04:02 PM) That means it's not possible to do time lapse video shooting without any external program for Sony DSLRs? Like my uncle's D5000, it has a function like time interval shooting.. which I couldn't find anything relevant to this in my a35.. lul! haha sony is poor there is another case all canon have tethering in dslr and none of sony slt have it as well. so dont be sad, you still can use other method to replace it for your time lapse, no big deal as long as got money, it can settle everything Added on May 30, 2012, 8:43 pmQUOTE(albnok @ May 30 2012, 05:33 PM) You can buy this: http://studiowhiz.com/2011/07/11/timer-rem...-intervalometerIf you have knowledge of electronics, you could even program your own! The remote port is very simple - just take a key and short all 3 pins and it will take a picture. Shorting the middle pin and one of the pins on the side (not sure which) will cause it to autofocus. I made my own remote shutter cable release here: http://glaringnotebook.com/default.asp?id=826remote shutter cable and shutter timer is different, 1st one need manual to snap, other one just set in program, auto snap This post has been edited by jimlim007: May 30 2012, 08:43 PM
