EvanKeat: DMF replaces AF-A (arguably, it should be on AF-S).

I'll be coming for the TT but dang it's early for a Sunday! Will bring my 135mm STF and Samyang 35mm F1.4.
I thought 14/4/2012 is a Saturday! not Sunday??? rclxub.gif rclxub.gif ....

You can come later, I thinking we will proceed to PC Fair around 11.30 am they about!

Unlike a300 with 41 segment, the a77 has full sensor 1200zone metering. How accurate can u get? Leaving it at full matrix metering rocks, anything else, the dro will help brighten up.

And, AND, if face detection detected a face, the metering prioritizes the face metering! How greater can it get?

That's what u been missing le zstan.... And that what's everyone doesn't know bout Sony tech.

zstan: I find AEL/Spot Metering redundant with an EVF camera - you already can see if something is underexposed and quickly turn the rear dial to change EV! (If you have set this.)

lwliam: Would be quite cool for Megatron's head to be floating in darkness.

too bad sometimes its A BIT unreliable especially shooting under bright sunlight and with your subject facing behind the sun.

Yup, exactly... the face priority function works wonders... its like running on full auto pilot.. just need to adjust exp compensation to taste.

And as for the AEL toggle, instead of dialing in the exp compensation by lots of turns, one click on the AEL will immediately jumps to the approximate of where you want the exposure to be, and a click or two of exp compensation will get it into place.

How is that a bit unreliable? Clearly you've not used your A77 in those situations enough yet, you'll soon learn that it's so much easier to get it right the 1st time with EVF.

and i think what you meant was "subject's back facing the sun", you can't be BEHIND the sun wink.gif

thats when the real AEL function comes in, just set the AEL to spot AEL, and go new the person u wan to shoot, (the middle spot) point on one of the face, AEL! and u lock a perfectly exposured face! then compose your work at that (face)ambient.

when u spot lock the face, the metering (what 17%? grey thingie) will always expose the face nicely. since human face is about (17%? grey in greyscale)

that whats u been missing with pro body, spot AEL.

yes comes with mini tripod + bag (not really bag but something like cloth to fit everything inside then roll then lock with a button).

now u make me miss the A850 sooooo much, because 850 using old 41 segment, which is very unreliable, i alwayyyyyssss rely on the spot AEL during portrait session, (that is when ppl amazed by my accurate skintone exposure)....
