"pulau indah"errm u know the "royal selangor club" or something ? forgoten the name.. hehe well i usually rent a motorboat with my collegue and hunt for barramundi(siakap) or hung jou(jernahak/tanda)

tanjung agas .. ermm somewhere in Port d***son, usually rent a "kotak"(big size fisherman boat) n fish somewhere nearby the indo water. Hehehe midheavy weapon is mandatory!! 300-400meter 65lbs or 80lbs braided line, 5ft or 6ft with 30-60lbs action rod, shimano tekota 700 or abu garcia BG10k conventional reel, no 12,14,16,18 and 24 sinker, 6ft 50lbs mono leader with 1ft 50lbs wireline. tongue.gif (my best personal record 4.7kg jernahak, (25min fight *priceless* laugh.gif )

balakong(behind Mines shopping center) ermm it's a paypond, fresh water fish, i go there when i cant go offshore due to windy condition .. nothing special.

lol did you guys notice that most thread in this hobbies and modelling forum is about indoors activities/hobbies. Perhaps not many people here like outdoor activities like this? I thought of opening an angling thread here before but since I'm to lazy to post good materials (tips, technique and etc - only some n00bish thingie lah tongue.gif ) I keep holding on until I see this thread today.

Anyway I'm just a casual angler. Been catching fish since I'm a kid but still haven't learned the inner secret lol. Nowadays just go on fishing outing only once a while, my angling equipment is collecting dust for quite sometime. Hopefully experts here would share their knowledges. laugh.gif

About saltwater fishing, I'm more into surf fishing, have yet to go on any open sea outing with a boat haha sleep.gif. Talking about surf fishing, beaches these day is pretty dirty not many fish around to catch except at certain spot.

Btw anyone here goes "menjala" (anyone know what it's called in English?) at beaches or jetty.

This activity is quite fun, but it's tiring compared to fishing and you'll need some skill to throw the net correctly.

some crucial knots you need to know... simple knot yet reliable.. get them right and you'll wont lose a catch unless your main line "kaput" or your bait taken by coral grouper ! laugh.gif

yup, I used that method to catch some live baits, usually prawns and those small fishes called "belanak" --> a good bait to fish siakap. But if some big "belanak" trapped in the net I usually make a meal out of it. tongue.gif

It's hard to teach by just explaining, you'll need some live demo to learn it laugh.gif . However you'll just need a short time to learn the throwing technique but it'll take quite sometime to master it. If the net is not thrown correctly it won't spread so you won't be catching anything. I myself have yet to master it blush.gif , usually out of 5 throw only 2 or 3 times it would spread properly tongue.gif . If you really want to learn it and don't have anyone to guide you, first try to observe how those people do it at the beach (pay attention on how they place the net sinker above their elbow, where they hold other part of the net and their hand movement). If possible try to talk to them and then ask how they do it. Some people won't mind teaching you the tricks.

fishing trips ... can do it in the open sea.... islands off east coast , resorts charge RM 600-800 for 8 hours fishing trips

best would still be kenyir lake.. where u go on a boat.. 3 days 2 nights just to fish, u stop at a waterfall area.. then u fish.. sleep and cook on the boat,,

hey, can anyone suggest a place in kl to fish without paying? i'm a bit sick of payponds heheh

i used to go to a pond in ampang, its to the right of the MRR2 near bukit antarabangsa, i have no idea what taman is it in, all i know is that there is a little mosque nearby.. the pond is like half surrounded by a stone face and there are some wooden houses on the pond itself supported by tiang..

anyone used to go there? i wonder if the place still exists.. it is not a paypond, you can just go there and fish whole day, i've seen a 10kg+ pacu landed..

EDIT: to the right of the MRR2 from cheras to ampang direction

laguna is in kelana jaya. fresh water pond. rm 8 for 3pm-3am (fish have to release back). from what i've seen and caught... mostly there are pacu, leekoh, haruan and talapia. the easiest to catch is pacu.. they give a nice fight too.

laguna is in front of the giant in kelana jaya... don't know much about the haruan there.. the one and only haruan i got was around 1.8kg. kundang is in sg buloh.. lots of monster fishes there (pacu, toman, etc)... said to be among the best (if not the best) place to fish in klang valley (for paypond ler). semenyih you go where?

hi there, noticed that you guys are into fishing as well...

same here...would like to share the recent fishing trip that i participated.

I was not from Lowyat.net honestly....but i found lowyat.net via search engine.

Usually i check on Zerotohundred.com and fishing.net.my

We are actively fishing, you can say that we fish almost 45 weekends in a year. Do bump in and say hi too since all of us are anglers smile.gif

We do have the fishing rigs, tips, full report of the trips and alot of other organised activities. Not forgetting jokes and trash talking...hahahaha

Nahh~...the pictures of SAILFISH on 17 Sept 2006

FR for Sailfish trip @ Merchong(17th Sept 2006)

Participants: Myself, DD, TomX, Pin and Zamri

Departed from Kl at 6pm on 16th, due to the jam and the heavy down pour, we reached Senawang exit at about 7pm. From Senawang, we travelled to Kuala Pilah using the trunk roads, which took us about 30 minutes. From Kuala Pilah, we travelled about 1.5 hours to Muazam Shah and from Muazam Shah to Merchong is about 30minutes.

Reached Merchong at 1am in the morning, the road is in great condition, straight and just cruising about 100kmh.

Woke up at 6.30am, grab a quick bite at the malay stall and off we go for the battle. smile.gif

From the chalet to reach to the first destination was about 1/2 hour to do apollo jig for selar. The selar there was kinda huge, easily the size of 8~10 inches!!

After getting enuff selar, we shoot to the sailfish area which is about 40minutes.

The rig of the sail fish is kinda unique. It's mainline(50lb)--> shockleader(100lb)-->bearing swivel(130lb)-->wire trace(50lb)-->hooks(6/0 circle hook)

the selar is being hooked on the shoulder and after dorsal fin, stripped about 20feet of line then place the balloon. Then strip more line about 20feet after the balloon. Gotta cast the selar out using your hands....once it's casted out, the selar will start swimming to 1 particular direction(it could be different direction on different selar). Once you have firm out the direction of the selar, you continue strip your line till it's about 50m away from your boat. The idea here is not to tangle with other drift balloon out there smile.gif Then fully released your drag..you need not strike but to allow the hook to slide to the beak of the fish and automatically hooked on. This is the tricky part...see how i did it below.

started waiting....

and waited for about 15 mins....

the balloon starts to move sideways slowly...then more sideways with higher speed with some splashes, slowly i lift up my rod from rod holder...slowly tightening my drag as the fish is pulling away, cruising~....more drags is locked on, the line gets it tension....

POP~! the balloon blew...the sailfish felt the tension and starts to get havoc. At this time my drag is set at 50%, need not strikes, the sail fish jumps and keep jumping, shaking its head as it jumps peeling lines like theres no tomorrow...your reel screams at it's loudest pitch asking for mercy...drag screams for 15 seconds.....and it's still keep going....it slows down a little bit...hehehe...this is the time i show my arsenals...the pumps and reeling in line is extremely tough...

the line strips slowly, i tightened my drags to the max 100% FULLY DRAG ON....the sailfish realised that it's tension again...off it goes...more jumping and head shaking...now the drag's pitch is even higher~!! screaming and never ends for 20~30 seconds with a full drag, i felt helpless but to hold on to the rod and my reel(was using the one that is customised rod and the okuma Zonar multiplier)....from green lines....now i'm seeing my line backing....damn...it's more than 200 meters now...

Slowly, the sailfish gets exhausted, now it's the time for me to recover my line....pumping and reeling in line....managed to recover about 100m of lines before it got crazy again~!!!

DANG~! The sailfish wanna shows that he's not easily conquered, gives more jumps and head shakes..but this time, i guess the sailfish is realyl exhausted, the jumps are low and short....then it slows down and tries to dive....as for me, i'm still reeling in the lines and still pumping...

FINALLY, it reaches the side of the boat...can see the beautiful color of it...the size of the gigantic beauty, the ferocious beak and it's arrow shaped tail...BUT WAIT~! There it goes again!!!..it kicks in again giving great beautiful jumps for few rounds.... Reeled in slowly and the Sailfish is landed successfully.

Removed the hook, too the picture and revive the sailfish before releasing it...all less than 3 minutes job smile.gif

Those that we caught was in the range of 30~35kgs according to the tekong.

The tricks: As you pumped up the rod, the fish tends to jumps if it's at surface and be expected to reel in as fast as you can, otherwise the hooks will be spitted out.

One hell of an experience. smile.gif

Ohh yeah....ini addition to the Sailfish report/story....just to share how strong the sailfish is.... smile.gif

As i reached the chalet after the sailfish trip, i was cleaning up the reel before i took a short nap.

Took the Okuma Zonar, which i tightened it to the max, and by using a long nose plier, i tried to test the strength of the drag....pulled with a harder strength(not jerking it), then only the spool moves a little. I was surprised! The drag was very strong indeed. I hooked up a portable weight spring, trying to estimate the strength of the drag, it is rated at 8kg which is 16lb of drag!!!

I took the rod, and matched it with the Okuma reel. Asked Vinny to lift up the rod and i tried to strip the line with my strength...i tried and i really have to put in more strength before the line start to slip......With rod, the strength of the reel+rod is not measureable as the rod will become weaker as times goes by.

Now remember that i mentioned that the sailfish was jumping and stripping the line extremely???

That shows the strength of the sailfish~.....

I'm bedazzled........

yeah i'm aware of the sui yee mee...but too bad, the time when i pass K.Pilah is around 8++pm and on sunday it's already 12am++ smile.gif

well gotta give it a pass this round smile.gif

I've been fishing since 8 and now i'm nearing 30 smile.gif

so the fishy smell is already in my blood....hahahahahaha...also i fish every weekend, usually will be hunting. Meaning that we look for natural spots, wild and deep in the woods...usually targetting Toman and Haruans with ultralight tackles(10~15lb line)...that give you more achievements and feel.

Not just that me and my gang does CnR(Catch n Release) even tho it's wild areas smile.gif

Usually weekend is the travel time for me...up north till Kilang Gula(perlis) till down south Johore and Pahang and Terenganu on the east.

If can afford, would like to go oversea too.. smile.gif

hehe bos my catch consider kacang lar when compared with yours lolz, yours sail fish wei !! i would really like to giv it a try but too sad .. i cant take few days leave sad.gif

seriously man, your report make me feel so darn "fish horny" now lolz .. those screeching sound of the reel fuhhh .. it's just like havin a great sex LOL !!

ermm it's not sungai besar, departure from tanjung agas, it's a shipwreck somewhere nearby the international water border. (malacca straits)

barracuda = kacang = alu-alu = tengiri batang.. haih i myself also confuse sometime .. my captain aka taukeh ikan(tekong) always use diffrent term in naming fish lolz.

enjoy fishing, ignore gf ! thumbup.gif

Btat...i'm a fulltime angler..part time worker...hahahahah

Ice Cube..do we know each other from other site? Enlighten me yah.. smile.gif

Long3016, great got a lure angler here liao....usually the lure catches the fisherman before it catches fish...hahaha that's why i got 9 Plano boxes of lure...sigh...some are new unused...some are really teruk condition but i still used them smile.gif

The abu garcia BIG GAME 7000NLD is a great reel, generating about 5~7kg(10~14lb) of drag smile.gif Your NLD is running on thin and shallow spool, meaning that it can contain loads of lines too.. smile.gif The major setback is the gear ratio which is 4. something...it's good for trolling and drifting. But a BIG NO-NO for jigging and fast games like popping

nicotine,
I went there for 1 day only...didnt take leave also..but hard to strive for the next day...Monday blues....hahah

Tg Agas, the old coastal road from MLK to PD?...noticed that mostly bottom fishing rite? Any shipwreck around your spot? if yes, we can do some jigging smile.gif

maybe we can organised a offshore fishing trip? tongue.gif
or at least a serious angler fishing trip? smile.gif

organize trip no problem but then saturday n sunday confirm not avaliable coz those unker already permanently book that boat on weekend. (he's the owner)
Tekong charge RM400~RM450 per trip.

hmm nice to see this thread getting active ....

bro wizfish, whut fishing method u fish? for bottom tactic, u can get yourself a 10kg rod or 15kg rod.. is more then enuff to screw a 10kilo grouper tongue.gif

daiwa STP 10 5.6" rod is not bad, or you can get a daiwa VIP 5.6" 40~100lbs rod.. both were made from e-glass.

pricing
STP 10KG - RM280~290
VIP 40~100lbs - RM290~300

perhaps bro rorytate can giv ya some suggestion.

cheeers

glad to see you here too. smile.gif

rig= tying method, schematic ler...

i assume you are asking on the seafishing set?

Get abu conolon pe1~3, which is about rm150 smile.gif
This rod is super light, strong and good casting distance.
You can also use for jigging too smile.gif

Reel, you can get any reel in the size of 2000~3000 will do good. Dont have to spend more than rm300 for the setup smile.gif

If you dont mind, i can spare one of my collection for you. Having 40~50rods at home. smile.gif

no wonder la...bro IceCube....the nick look familiar.. smile.gif
glad to see you here too. smile.gif

rig= tying method, schematic ler...

i assume you are asking on the seafishing set?

Get abu conolon pe1~3, which is about rm150 smile.gif
This rod is super light, strong and good casting distance.
You can also use for jigging too smile.gif

Reel, you can get any reel in the size of 2000~3000 will do good. Dont have to spend more than rm300 for the setup smile.gif

If you dont mind, i can spare one of my collection for you. Having 40~50rods at home. smile.gif

Yeah la.. what to do.. when ppl don't put much info in that forum and when its quiet so i come in here to browse around lor.. wah sey.. 40 - 50 rods ar.. all sponsored punya ka??hehe..

Hey talking bout ultra light outfit jigging.. hmm did you come out in one of the R& L issue about jigging about 18 feet water or was it 8feet water.. not that sure forgot liow.

Jigging is by using the jig plate lor... smile.gif

purely besi and it's just like a weight.

But! it's not as what we thought of smile.gif
A jig has pattern and different curves thus when it's being dropped to the sea it reflects a very sick dying fish.

IceCube, Not sponsored ler...all bought le...tho few are given la

I'll post up if i have up coming trip and see if you can join. smile.gif

Wizfish, Dont worry about the 3~4kg angcho ler.. smile.gif
Our line rating is more than enuff for quite a number of fishes smile.gif

Example:
Line: 20lb (equivalent of 10kg line)
Rod: Pe1~3

With the strength of the rod + the strength of the line...it's almost unbreakable. But it depends on how you fight the fish. It's more to control, rather than reeling the whole fish in smile.gif That's why i dont fancy bottom fishing much.

PLKVoon,
Did you bring back the "tai tao pok"? Otherwise, the fish might not survive.

Sorry, i'm a fish-preserved guy. smile.gif Most of my fishing is CnR.

Last weekends picture coming up!

I'm a fishing kaki too! When I was back in Malaysia, I would fish in some commercial ponds in PJ and Subang. Fishing was actually quite good in those places smile.gif

But the greatest fun I have ever had was fishing for Pacific Salmon here.

For your BC (Baitcast), it's the entry level of Abu 2006 BC design. I'm waiting for the Abu Revo STX which havent reach to our shores yet. smile.gif

I have a write up regarding how to operate the BC to avoid birdnest(CBH = Char Bee Hoon) and to get the optimal distance with BC casting.

Let me find it and post it here. smile.gif

guys, i would like to make a correction of understanding here... smile.gif

RIG is the method to tie your line to your bait... smile.gif
Example for bottom fishing
1:mainline-->snap+swivels--> leader line--> small split shot--> hooks
2:mainline+running sinker--> snap +swivels--> leaderline--> hooks
3: mainline--> snap + swivels + clipping a apollo weight-->leader line --> hooks

The above mentioned is RIG

For fishing gears it's called setup or sets. Hope this clarifies

Btat, i see a surecatch tournament there....heheheh the rest i tatao...yet to get the tutorial for BC as i posted it at some forum, and i am unable to log in now smile.gif

BTW, try adjusting your magnetic brakes to 10 smile.gif

BC is something fun to learn with, and honestly, it's not as easy as we thought comparo to spinning sets.

Do join me for some fishing trips and i guide you more on utilising the BC

Now to set the right magnetic setting.
Tie to a 8grams lure(practically anything above 6cm is 7~8grams), then set your magnetic brake is set to 10, and your tension knob(the stupid nut that Bro Chun lost it) to ensure the spool doesnt move sideways. I'll explain more on that later stage. The tip here is, as you cast, notice your lure....as it's about to touch the water, use your thumb to stop the spool fully. Otherwise, due to the sudden change of speed at your spool, the spool will overrun and cause you CBH.

Then make a swing of, back to front with a minimal strength swing. You should be reaching 10m~15m. Do that for 5 times....

Then adjust your magnetic brakes to 8, and do the same strength swings again x 5. You should be getting 20m averagely....

Keep adjust the magnetic drag to lower the brakes(DO NOT PUT 2 or 0), until you get some CBH. NOW, the trick here is, tighten abit of your tension knob. Cast again for 5 times.....it's either getting lesser CBH or no CBH at all....if no CBH meaning that you have set the right setting for yourself. Otherwise, loosen the tension knob a little and adjust your magnetic brake +1 degree. Keep testing it again.

REMEMBER NOT TO CAST TOO HARD YET! Increase your casting strength bit by bit...educate your thumb to stop the spool at the right point smile.gif

TENSION KNOB 101.

The tension knob is being used to tightened the movement of the spool by limiting the movement of the spool shaft.

See graphic below.( |-| is spool, >>> is the spool shaft and |o is the tension knob)

............
||))))))))))||>>>>>>>>>>>> |o
............

Usually this is the stock or as new setting. In such if you noticed that the spool shaft is not touching/connected to the tension knob at all. In such way, it's either using magnetic brake or centrifugal brake to slow down the inertia of the spool gradually. But sometimes caused a minimal CBH. The spool will be able to move left and right bits.

............
||))))))))))||>>>>>>>>>>>>|o
............

Now, adjust the tension knob slowly to ensure that the tension knob touches the shaft a little bit.(HOW THE HECK I AM ABLE TO SEE THE CONECTIVITY OF THE SHAFT AND THE TENSION KNOB?????). This is how you check.
1: Tightened the knob bit and bits...
2: Then use your thumb to try to move spool to the left and right. If it moves, repeat step 1, until there are bit of movement.

guy, Kelong paradise is located at sabak bernam...a good place to practise surf casting too... smile.gif

it is very spacious and it includes your meals...if you are fishing at the base deck, it's spacious and cooling....best to enjoy your trip there with loads of beers... smile.gif

Bro IceCube,
I'm a fulltime fisherman partime worker la...hehehe

I work in a bank for weekdays job and at night is all my freelance websites thingy. smile.gif

You firstly have to understand the kelong position.

Do you know that the kelong is actually situated in the middle of the current runway?? smile.gif

Example.....
High tide

>>>>>>>||kelong||>>>>>>>>>

Low tide

<<<<<<<||kelong||<<<<<<<<<

So just follow the tide and you will be fine. smile.gif

For grouper & telinga gajah, you have to be equipped with heavier arsenals, cos you will be fishing under the tiang areas. In such if the fish takes the bait, you have to strike with a split second. Otherwise, you line will be rubbing against the tiang and there are alot of barnicles.

for kurau and senangin, you might wanna use apollo jig number 14~18. Target area is the staircase. As we docked, we walked up the staircase, then to lower deck we turn right, to upper deck we go furthur straight. In this case, you turn right and fish from the bridge. BTW, under the docking staircase got loads of telinga gajah as well.

What do you mean bawal and GF as well?? Where to 'fish' your gf issit?? in the room la of course...~!! huahuahuahuahua

For pari, you know where to get them rite? wink.gif

Btat,
for BC casting, it's always practise to perfect. There are alot of factor which you can cast with a BC, with or without wind. smile.gif BC can also reach alot of snaggy areas with the slightest pitching. I believe alot of anglers do debate about this.

Hi FeverBoy, since the author of this thread didnt say anything, allow me to welcome you to the world of angling. Please do not hesitate to ask us if there are any doubts. Again, welcome to the angling world and hope that you practise catch and release too. smile.gif

different places will have different structures mah...so scenario in PD and scenario is Kelong Paradise is different smile.gif

But the guidelines are places with murky or muddy bottoms... smile.gif Somewhere near to kuala/estuaries opening is good.
1st it provides food as the food flows out from the estuaries
2ndly, it's the muddy area which the pari can land

also, you have to understand how the current highway moves.

As for Kelong Paradise which i shared yesterday, the flow of the current is from front and back during change of tide.

With such fast current, the bottom WILL not be muddy, more likely a sandy or rocky bottom(sands are heavier than muds). So in order to target pari in Kelong Paradise, you have to cast at the side of the current(that's where the left over food is washed out)

Best to use a surf rod at Kelong if you want to achieve some targets. Myself using a 14footer with a 10,000 series popping reel. Loaded with 30lb of braids.

For PD, i have a great memories there.... smile.gif

I used to work in PD in one of the resort...so fishing is the main thing i does there.. smile.gif

One of the evening i casted with a 21footer surf rod + 10,000 series reel....without much waiting, the reel screams~

Give a solid strike and the game begins. Have you see a 21footer rod bends like a mangkuk?? hahaha...that's how powderful the pari is.

Fought for 45mins...all the ins and outs of line.....i'm tired enough....so i passed on to my pal, so he fought for another 30 mins before he gives up...at the same time, i called one of the tackle shop guy in PD stating that we got a big hookup....which he came shortly. Now it's the turn of the tackle shop guy, fought for about 1hour before he gives up.

The tackle shop guy felt unsatisfied, so passed on the gear to me, while he went back and get his scuba gears.

He place on his gears, and while i hold on to the fight...he followed the line downwards to the depth...at that time it's about 70m line is out, tho it's near we are unable to win the battle.

He came up after 20~30minutes. Told me to fight witht he tightest drag i can put on, pump the fish like the rod can never break...i asked why...??

"It's a sting ray the size of wedding dinner table!"

I was like WTF???

SO i did as instructed, pumping like mad, testing the strength of the surf rod...

THE LINE BROKE.......................................

End of story...it remains as a great memory to me

On the way up Air Ganda, we stopped at Bidor for the famous Herbal Duck Noodle.

Totally undescribeable..and it's extremely yummy.

bro, cant confirm the exact location coz still duno the weather condition.. maybe tanjung tuan(port dickson) or shipwreck with the depth of 180 ft atleast ..

hehe wunna test jiggin abit ler coz i didnt fish before using lure (curious) biggrin.gif

Q- is 150g enuff for that type of depth ? Usually i use sinker range from No 12~18 for bottom, is 150g suffice?

usually the area of such depth needs heavier lures..

if it's 150gram, then it's good use.. smile.gif

Well, the trip to Air Ganda got nothing to shout about....it was rather poor, as said by the tekong.

The day was too hot..not in the sense of the sunshine, but more to the heatwave. Maybe that's the cause of the lazynes of the toman and unwilling to take lures as well.

After the Bidor Herbal Duck Noodle, we bought some fruits:

then we shoot up to Gerik.. smile.gif

On the way towards Gerik, we stopped at Lenggong for the "Perak Man".

And finally we ahave reached Gerik.

On the battle day itself, we woke up at 6, reaching the battle field at 6.45am. everyone was busy unloading. I was doing the setting on my TD-Z with a small popper. Followed by my Alpha. On my second cast, there was a taker! Booming with loud splashes.

We have arranged for 2 boat. One boat with Tekong and 2 guy, where as the 2nd boat, i'll drive by myself with Vinny and Bro Kenneth.

It was extremely very foggy. Forgot to mention that it's freezing cold too.

Closer shot.

One thing i would say is...even the smaller toman can bend a 10~20lb rod....extremely powerful. Not easy to land the tomans as they keep stripping our lines.

Total of 4 landed, countless misses and snapped lines. Lost a number of lures due to snaggs

Report

9.00 am >> 1.30 pm ..
I went to Tasik Prima Puchong ... That time the weather is nice because of haze ! tongue.gif .. 3 ppls fishing there, using Lure, popper, and chicken liver .. No fish bite.. But do saw a toman attack small fishes.. that time we keep use popper to throw to the spot. but still no result. and i donated one popper.. (the clip open already #(*#^%(@#^(^) then after about 5 minutes there is a about 800grams Ikan talapia floating on the water, half body gone already ...

After awhile, suddenly raining.. then we all rush to the car, and go take lunch.. that time real moody. cant even get a fish .. then quite dulan !.. then change to another wild pond -

3.00pm - 8.00 pm
After that we went to Little Kenyir (near Kelana Jaya Putra LRT service centre there, located at PJ, Near Subang terminal 3 highway). WE brought small prawns and using popper, and worms and the storms(plastic fish), play around there... many Kayu under ,the water.. so make many donation ... .. around 8pm, there is damm dark already.. cause left few anglers there .. plan to leave.. that area have many cases.. yawn.gif yawn.gif

8.00Pm- 1.30am
DAmm gao dulan that time !! then GO to pay pond - Kelana Laguna . RM8 per rod. (beside LDP Giant Mall, behind Shell patrol station) .. go there use hong to fishing
... use 2 packs of hong which prepared by the owner there.. still cant even get a fish bite !!!!!!!! omg .... rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Reason for no fish:
1. May be i damm gao sui ... mad.gif mad.gif
2. May be that day raining .. all haze mixed with rain, make the water of the ponds become not good, and fish become no mood to eat.. unsure.gif unsure.gif

location shipwreck
sinker used - no 9~10 .. no current nia doh.gif

report-

depart from jetty around 8pm, reach destination around 10pm, everyone started to get busy setting up "canon" n catchin squid... we wait .. and wait .. 12am sharp, alarm from a shimano TLD 2speed gone wild screaming ... greeeeeeeeek !! A unker got a hooked up, it's a jernahak weight around 5.1~5.2kg, pretty fat IMHO and the unker look kind of exhausted after 20min of fight biggrin.gif

12.30am .. while i'm playing around with the main line to simulate a live swimming squid due to no under current.. my backbone rod suddenly bend to the max and the alarm from my shimano torium30 scream like no tomolo fuh .. after some 20 min of fight, a golden scaled fish rose from the seabed...from far away it looked something like a jernahak.. but as soon as it near .. i'm kind of dissapointed coz it's a IBU GELAMA weigh around 11~12kg. Anyway it give me one hell of fight.... my left arm still aching as i'm typing this lolx.

second strike come when i'm reeling up the rig to check the bait.. it's a barracudu, it hit my rig and give me quick 10 min fight.. well the intial power of that bara is very good and explosive, but as soon as it reach beside the boat... SANGKUT .. damn the barra "chaw bihun" with those unker line .. the leader snap and there goes my barra.. judgin from the size it's expected to weigh around 3.6~4kg doh.gif

summary- total kill (pecah peti ais "coleman 56") whistling.gif
jernahak - 5 ekor (combi of 5,2,1,4 kg)
talang - 1 ekor (3kg)
Ibu gelama- 1 ekor (11~12kg)
others species kerapu,siakap batu,timun - total 30 ekor ++

pic on monday as i didnt bring my phone data cable back to my home town. cool.gif

Hey bro Voon,

Subang lake got Pb's one leh.. hey the haze over here in kelana Jaya is getting worst.. any report what is the API ka?

for Pb in subang lake.. use prawns but i would suggest u to buy Lei yu chai (small baby carps) very cheap only Rm 1 for like 15 of them.. u can buy 2 buys and fish for hours.. but one thing about subang lake they either feed early in the morning or in the evening.. at night.. dunno where they go partying., can't even find any of it..

Bro QIW...

cannot compare with shimano reels la.its like comparing mercedes with kancil.. its a good reel for freshwater and i think its perfect to be used in laguna. hehe..

Well if you want i can bring u to the shop.. its located exactly behind esso in SS3.. left 2 there.. they even have slammer.. small series.. but RM 200 ++ buxx...

me only play cheap cheap reels la.. no money to buy big big expensive shimano reels ler. hehee

Sifu QiW now fishing at laguna le. wont be replying till tonight la.

Fish at laguna nowadays not easy to get, especially last week. Yesterday's result was

Sifu Q = 3 pacus,
Friend = 3 pacus
Me = 1 pacu,
Friend 2 = SPK

Dont fish with them. Sifu Q always hantam all the fishes and filled the daily quota. Others cant get fish one.. hahahahahaha

Bro Voon, need not get BC to do lure casting one ler... smile.gif you can use spinning too. It's not about your setup, more about the display of the lure to attract the fish to strike it.

the 2nd toman did not took any shot. smile.gif but smaller than the 1st one. smile.gif

Bro Pacu, hooked one with Keli but unable to lift it up thus the toman spitted out the hooks. Loads of bubbles around the warzone.

BTW, this is what happened to the split ring after the 1st toman. Totally twisted like number 8

my god gave me hell of a time.... but it was so unfornately that i cant take the fish up as i was fishing at the bridge in lgk near the airport(u know what i meant if u been to lgk...) the brdige was bout 10 mtrs away from the water.....
didnt dare to pull the fish up as i was using a very thin line......

They charge RM 10 per hour.. fishes varies from red snapper(merah/ang hu), Golden Snapper(Ang Cho), Yellow tail barracuda (i caught a 2kg+ one before), Siakaps (lots of it), chinese pomfret, Threadfin Salmon (senagin) and sometimes.. tarpon and talapia is caught before in that pond.

U da man la bro rory.. i use my 12 footer to cast in starcruise pond also quite hard already.. i can imagine almost twice the length and cast.. suffering man.. u need lots of clearance space.. but i think the cast can reach 200 metres easily hor.

Hi frozenthrone, welcome to LYN fisho club. There're a lot of way to rig a 'perambut'{rig for hooks}, from what you describe, i believe that's a 'Paternoster Rig'{hook top, lead weight/ladung below} or you can try using the 'Ladung Hidup' style.......

Woooo bro nico, you just reminded me bout the 'Sangkar Bocor'{escape fish} last 2-3 months back at Pulau Ketam, 'taruk makan, taruk makan' but all standard size grouper, bout 1-1.5kg type. In total we caught bout 21 grouper, my friend which was on another sampan caught bout 28 grouper, very shiok......kekekekeke.........

Bro Frozen, like what bro nico said, a swivel would help or else your line will get all twisted up.

As for bro R3J, we wait for bro Rory comments as he's the lure expert....

Reached there about 8.30 in the morning and we casted till 12pm

Different angle

the 2nd toman did not took any shot. smile.gif but smaller than the 1st one. smile.gif

Bro Pacu, hooked one with Keli but unable to lift it up thus the toman spitted out the hooks. Loads of bubbles around the warzone.

BTW, this is what happened to the split ring after the 1st toman. Totally twisted like number 8

Well CK was unlucky that he might lost the fish until i saw there was another line tangled to his line. There was loads of unsecured line around the water area and CK tangled one up.

Since he's fighting his toman, i gotta go down to the water to detangle the line. Well, i cut the tangled line rather than detangling it...hehehe

Sorry R3, i missed your question.

not really, for lure players it's more to the method or displaying lure in the right way to trigger the bite. smile.gif

you can use it while raining, while windy, night or morn.

What to do .. belanak for bait is the best cause it swims towards the mama siakaps. and when they find it they can't jump away anymore.. sure mama siakap see them and wollap them. ehehehe.. i caught before a 2.5kg siakap on 7inch belanak.

actually bro KK.. not only Rm 1 swimming around.. its at least few thousand ringgit swimming around.. just whether you can catch them or not (including siakaps la) hehehe..
