For everyone's benefit and knowledge
Low profile VS round BCLow Profile
Low profile is good for light lures, but also depending on the weight of the spool. The first easy kickoff of the spool to spin ensures the ability to cast light lure.
There are 2 types of spool, which has it's own pro and cons.
Shortshaft spool like daiwas and the new Abu Revo STX, totally disengages itself from the tension knob and pinion gear to ensure the ability to spin longer. This is to minimise the friction of the spool while casting.

See this: Short shaft spool

The other type is long shaft spool like the Shimanos and many brands out there in the market. To compare between these 2 spools, usually the long shaft spool are lighter to ensure the first kickoff is easy. Either way, both spool serves the purpose and works well.
See this: Long shaft spool
Test:Unclutch the reel making the spool free in casting. Use your thumb, and give it a mild push. See how long the spool spins. The longer the spool spins, it means the ability to cast light lures better.
Example:Shimano Scorpion can spins for easily 10secs and more
Shimano MG can spins for about 15~20secs and more
Shimano Calcutta50 can spins for 4secs+- and modified is about 15secs
Well that's on the ability to cast light lures....
Let's look on the drag system
Drag ability of low profile is always lower(except for the new Abu Revo with 24lb drag) than the round baitcast or spinning set. The key here is the ability to perform a smooth drag.
TestLock the drag in comfortable tension. Hold the spool with the thumb, and at the same time try to retrieve/crank the line....
Example:Calcutta 50 is 4lb drag only
Scorpion is 6lb
Team Daiwa X is about 8lb
Abu Revo is 24lb !!! Recently landed a sailfish with such a small feature!
Now, the rest of the features like number of bearings are just for the smoothness of the cranking. There is usually 2 bearings on the spool itself to ensure the smoothness of the spool.
See this: 2 shielded bearing on the 2 end of the spool(the other bearing is on the shell of the reel).

The difference is, possible that the longshaft spool have 3 bearings. On the cover shell, spool itself and the tip of the shaft. Either that or the tip of the shaft bearing is a copper shim(however it can be upgraded)
For short shaft, it's definitely 2bearings only that is supporting the spool. On the spool itself and on the cover shell.
