"pulau indah"errm u know the "royal selangor club" or something ? forgoten the name.. hehe well i usually rent a motorboat with my collegue and hunt for barramundi(siakap) or hung jou(jernahak/tanda)

tanjung agas .. ermm somewhere in Port d***son, usually rent a "kotak"(big size fisherman boat) n fish somewhere nearby the indo water. Hehehe midheavy weapon is mandatory!! 300-400meter 65lbs or 80lbs braided line, 5ft or 6ft with 30-60lbs action rod, shimano tekota 700 or abu garcia BG10k conventional reel, no 12,14,16,18 and 24 sinker, 6ft 50lbs mono leader with 1ft 50lbs wireline. tongue.gif (my best personal record 4.7kg jernahak, (25min fight *priceless* laugh.gif )

balakong(behind Mines shopping center) ermm it's a paypond, fresh water fish, i go there when i cant go offshore due to windy condition .. nothing special.

lol did you guys notice that most thread in this hobbies and modelling forum is about indoors activities/hobbies. Perhaps not many people here like outdoor activities like this? I thought of opening an angling thread here before but since I'm to lazy to post good materials (tips, technique and etc - only some n00bish thingie lah tongue.gif ) I keep holding on until I see this thread today.

Anyway I'm just a casual angler. Been catching fish since I'm a kid but still haven't learned the inner secret lol. Nowadays just go on fishing outing only once a while, my angling equipment is collecting dust for quite sometime. Hopefully experts here would share their knowledges. laugh.gif

About saltwater fishing, I'm more into surf fishing, have yet to go on any open sea outing with a boat haha sleep.gif. Talking about surf fishing, beaches these day is pretty dirty not many fish around to catch except at certain spot.

Btw anyone here goes "menjala" (anyone know what it's called in English?) at beaches or jetty.

This activity is quite fun, but it's tiring compared to fishing and you'll need some skill to throw the net correctly.

some crucial knots you need to know... simple knot yet reliable.. get them right and you'll wont lose a catch unless your main line "kaput" or your bait taken by coral grouper ! laugh.gif

yup, I used that method to catch some live baits, usually prawns and those small fishes called "belanak" --> a good bait to fish siakap. But if some big "belanak" trapped in the net I usually make a meal out of it. tongue.gif

It's hard to teach by just explaining, you'll need some live demo to learn it laugh.gif . However you'll just need a short time to learn the throwing technique but it'll take quite sometime to master it. If the net is not thrown correctly it won't spread so you won't be catching anything. I myself have yet to master it blush.gif , usually out of 5 throw only 2 or 3 times it would spread properly tongue.gif . If you really want to learn it and don't have anyone to guide you, first try to observe how those people do it at the beach (pay attention on how they place the net sinker above their elbow, where they hold other part of the net and their hand movement). If possible try to talk to them and then ask how they do it. Some people won't mind teaching you the tricks.

fishing trips ... can do it in the open sea.... islands off east coast , resorts charge RM 600-800 for 8 hours fishing trips

best would still be kenyir lake.. where u go on a boat.. 3 days 2 nights just to fish, u stop at a waterfall area.. then u fish.. sleep and cook on the boat,,
