Given this scenario,
I have a friend living in NZ with his bnet id pointing to NZ address and if i buy our local D3 copy and give him the cd-key, he would be able to use the cd-key to attach it to his account and download the installer right?

Greetings!

Thank you very much for contacting us! I am Game Master Droseraa and it's my pleasure to assist you today. : ) My sincerest apologies for any wait you may have experienced.

===========+ANSWER+===========
===============+================

When Diablo III is released, it will have no specific assigned region. The only thing that will determine which store you're purchasing from is which location is easiest to ship from. Thus, no matter where you get your copy of Diablo III, you will have access to any regional Auction House at any given time.

For more information and updates on Diablo III, please visit our website! http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/games/d3/

===============+================

I hope that this has resolved any issues you have, or has at least pointed you in the right direction. Should you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to let us know!

*We understand the length of our current queue wait time, but fret not! If this response did not resolve your issue, your wait time should be significantly shortened if you reply directly to this ticket.

You can read and reply to this ticket on our Support Site:

Your patience is greatly appreciated!

Regards,

That's incorrect. The GM was appearing to answer from WHERE you BUY D3.
And it is not answering regarding AH at all other than you have access to the "regional AH" which we already know.

EDIT: It'll be better to wait for the official announcement as the GMs can give incorrect answers for something that hasn't been released directly by the dev team.

"You will have access to the regional AH at any given time" but then how is it going to explain this then?:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4175551303
How does this impact the items I have purchased in the auction house?
Auction house purchases are bound to the servers in the region in which they're bought. Any items acquired on game servers in the Americas region are bound to those servers and are not transferrable to the servers in Europe or Asia (and vice versa). Please keep this in mind when making purchases in the auction house. We’ll release more details on the auction house functionality prior to the game’s release.

If you have access to any regional AH, you should be playing in that region.
So if you're playing in US server, you can buy from EU AH?
Doesn't make sense right?

Yup like i said it's not 100% confirmed yet unsure.gif . Mayb what he trying to say is the lock applies to items bought or sold via RMAH. For example, if you buy from US auction house, you cannot sell in Brazil auction house. You can only sell it in the US auction house , but you can access any region's RMAH .

Let's wait for official press release then on this issue sigh sweat.gif .

i dont see the issue here. if you're from US of course you buy from US AH, but you also can buy the item from EU AH but it will only be available to your character at EU AH. they are giving you option to region hop when you feel US is not for you, or you want to join your friends at asia region. pov though.

Agreed it'll be best to wait for official word.
For all we know, what's true right now can even be changed the last minute before launch (or even after that) smile.gif

However, accessing different region's AH seems weird.
It seems you can then go "shopping" in different AH for best price then biggrin.gif

Ya bro, it just because what released info we have right now, IMHO is at the very best, vague like hell I'd say.
No point for us to debate when even the official note says to wait for specifics when it is closer to release date rclxm9.gif

EDIT:
Bliz may be debating like us right now in their meeting about AH biggrin.gif
slightly less then 46 days 20 hrs left..... *sigh* D3 ah!!!!

The AH system has been fix ages ago. Its just that people are making it very confusing, with different information.

Blizzard has stated this many times.

You will have access to all servers no matter which version of Game you buy.

The RMAH and GAH are all region fix meaning to say you cannot buy from US RMAH/GAH and send to EU toon or vice versa.

RMAH is only available to your home region. However GAH is not fix by this rule. Meaning, for us we are fixed to US region, so we only have access to US RMAH. We will not have access to EU RMAH. But we can make a toon on the EU servers and use the GAH.

So what is so confusing about this???

read thru your sentence again:

"RMAH is only available to your home region"

and

"we are fixed to US region, so we only have access to US RMAH. We will not have access to EU RMAH"

and followed by:
" But we can make a toon on the EU servers and use the GAH"

So basically, what you're saying is if you're playing in another region = you cannot use RMAH?
Asians that want to play with Europeans cannot use RMAH.
Europeans that want to play with US friends also loses their ability to use RMAH?

or it is more likely to be (this now is a speculation because there is No official word right now that states this specifically and to wait for next update!):
QUOTE
Applies to non-Korean or those that countries that did not banned RMAH:
1. You can play in whichever region you like (Asians default to US but can change).
2. You play in what region server, you use that regions' RMAH and pay the $ using EDIT:their that region's currency.

If it is the second, it'll be understandable and probably agreeable for most I guess? (other than Korea which gets shafted unless they use VPN or something)
