Diablo III is an upcoming dark fantasy/horror-themed action role-playing game in development by Blizzard, making it the third installment in the Diablo franchise. The game, which features elements of the hack and slash and dungeon crawl genres, was first announced on June 28, 2008, at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Paris, France
Diablo III: Opening Cinematic
Story Plot:
QUOTE
The game takes place in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series. This world was saved twenty years prior by a handful of unnamed heroes in Diablo II. Warriors who, having survived the onslaught brought by the armies of the Burning Hells, have gone mad from their ordeals. It is up to a new generation of heroes to face the forces of evil threatening the world of Sanctuary.
Players will have the opportunity to explore familiar settings such as Tristram.
The only confirmed NPCs are Deckard Cain,[5] who has appeared in both of the previous games, and his stepdaughter, a new character that accompanies the hero in quests from time to time. Cain's journal on the official site brings the player up to speed on the events of the first two games.[6] Diablo's world map is composed primarily of two main continents with several small islands in the Northwest region.
Character Classes:
QUOTE
There will be five available character classes.[23][24] In the previous two games, each class had a fixed gender, but in Diablo III players may choose the gender they would like to play.[5] Although Blizzard initially revealed only one gender per class, the alternate gender has been revealed slowly in the lead-up to the game's release.
1. The Witch Doctor is a new character reminiscent of the Diablo II Necromancer, but with skills more traditionally associated with voodoo culture. The Witch Doctor has the ability to summon monsters, cast curses, harvest souls, and hurl poisons and explosives at his enemies. Blizzard has stated[citation needed] that the Witch Doctor is not another version of the Necromancer and that they may incorporate the Necromancer in a future expansion if they so desire.
2. The Barbarians will have a variety of revamped skills at their disposal based on the use of their incredible physical prowess. The Barbarian is able to whirlwind through crowds, cleave through swarms, leap across crags, and crush opponents upon landing.
3.The Wizard is a version of the Sorceress from Diablo II or the Sorcerer from Diablo. The Wizard's abilities range from shooting lightning, fire and ice at their enemies to slowing time and teleporting around enemies and through walls.
4. The Monk is a melee attacker, using martial arts to cripple foes, resist damage, deflect projectiles, attack with blinding speed, and land explosive killing blows. It combines the melee elements of Diablo II's Assassin class with the "holy warrior" role of the Paladin. Blizzard has stated that the Monk is not related in any way to the Monk class from the Sierra Entertainment-made Diablo: Hellfire expansion.[25]
5.The Demon Hunter combines elements of Diablo II's Amazon and Assassin classes. Demon Hunters use crossbows as their main weapon and also throw small bombs at enemies. Some of their skills have been revealed and among them are arrow skills such as Chain Arrow.
The Archivist class was presented on April 1, 2009, following in Blizzard's April Fool's Day joke tradition.

Haven't played D3 before ? Or you want to refresh on the full Lore about Diablo 3 ? Well here are some videos showing you the full Lore regarding the Universe of the Diablo series that takes place in heaven, hell and the world of Sanctuary.
I watched these 3 youtube videos by Force Strategy Gamers and found that there were some inaccuracies, such as....
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
1. the map background is showing the map AFTER tyrael had layeth the smack down on the world stone. So when narating for events prior to D2 expansion ending, they should have used the older map when Mount Arreat was still intact. This is the correct map for events prior to D2 expansion http://images.wikia....4/Sanctuary.jpg
2. Prior to the battles between angels and demons, there was Anu. This was not even mentioned in the youtube documentary. Anu is basically god in the diablo universe. Anyway Anu who wanted to become the perfect being, discarded the evil essence from himself in order to achieve perfection.
In doing so, there was now Anu (all things good) and the 7 headed black dragon called Tathamet (all things evil). They were both equal in power, and eventually they both died fighting each other for almost an eternity.
Their essence became what is currently known as the high heaven's and hell. Anu's spine formed the crystal arch of heaven where angels are born, whereas Tathament's black smoldering husk formed the 7 planes of the burning hell.
3. he neglected to mention that Inarius was captured and was offered by the Angiris council, to Mephisto to seal the peace pact they had made. Mephisto had a special hatred for Inarius, because he had an affair with his daughter Lilith (and this pissed off Mephisto a lot). So he brought Inarius with him back to hell, where Inarius was tortured endlessly.
4. It was actually Lilith who was behind unlocking Ulydyssian's nephalem powers (not Inarius). This was mentioned in the book of cain.
5. he did not mention about the different mage factions which culminated into the clan wars. This event although not as epic as the sinwars, was still a major was in the lore of diablo.
6. he mentioned tal rasha was the one who suggested that he use himself as a human conduit to help imprison baal the lord of destruction. Actually that isn't true, because according to the book of cain, it was Zoltun Kulle (one of the horadric mages who is a specialist in transmutation/alchemy magic) who suggested that a human could in tangent with the broken soul stone, to imprison baal.
There are hints that Zoltun Kulle may have had a hidden agenda, based on the fact he may have been responsible for allowing the soul stone to break. Also it was he who invented the black soul stone which we saw in the Diablo 3 cinematic, and will have a huge role in the story plot apparently.
Also here is a chronological order of the many Diablo novelia (exceptions are the graphical comics e.g. like the recent Sword of Justice)

I will post latest ingame videos here, seeing as the first post is videos from a very old version of the game that is no longer applicable. So it will only give new comers a false impression of what Diablo 3 actually looks like in the most recent beta patch.
*note: the videos below were taken during beta patch 13, so please keep that in mind. Beta Patch 15 is still new, so there isn't that many detailed videos about the classes out just yet.

New content accidentally unlocked in D3 beta. Blizzard shut down the server in a panic
QUOTE
Update It appears these steps no longer work, but I thought it'd be important if I shared it with you anyway.
These are the exact steps I took to get inside. Exactly how I would write them if I was at work,
1. Created Shattered Crown Game 2. Worked my way to Cemetery Waypoint 3. Random User from "Looking for game" chat asks if he can join game to help test bug, I agree. 4. [] joins the game, Diablo's minions grow stronger. 5. [] waits in town next to my banner and holds cursor above banner. 6. Advise [] to left-click my banner continuously until further notice. 7. I move my Barb slightly below waypoint 8. Alt tab, disconnect wireless internet signal. 9. Run North past gate within a 6-7 second window 10. Alt tab, immediately reconnect internet 11. [] then appears in "Fields of Misery" 12. I get disconnected from the server so I relog. 13. Rejoined Join []'s game and am now in "Fields of Misery"
I was in the area for only about 20 minutes before I was disconnected. I was testing for more bugs, but other then placeholders, everything seemed normal. In the Slaughtered Calf Inn, you could buy dye's for your gear. A cave, for example, had a placeholder name of something like: "Cave_(draw001)_hskey" which isn't unusual, considering we have an incomplete build of the game.
I don't know who this [] player is because I couldn't see his name, but he's the other who saw the area. I was asking in chat for someone to help me test the bug but nobody would message me, and now I have over 200 friend requests. I'm currently unable to get online as of a couple hours ago and I'm receiving an error of "3005" when I try to login.
It's not because I've been banned, this is a "Bug" and the sole purpose for the Beta. Blizzard wants us to find these things so that they don't have these problems in release. Everything is working as intended so I wouldn't worry about it too much, even though some of my friends with Beta can login right now.
I heard a rumor on the forums that Dye's were being sold in the Auction House, which is completely possible. But moments before I went offline I noticed the Auction House was offline too, possibly to hotfix the issue? I do believe a couple of days ago when I tried to to access the Auction House it appeared to be offline anyway, so it could just be a maintenance thing.
Questions and answers, as well as useful tools will be posted here.
SEA/ANZ Diablo III Home Region Change

If I live in Australia/New Zealand/Southeast Asia, what server will I play Diablo III on? Diablo III players in Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia will, by default, connect to the Americas region. By connecting to this region, players will have a wider pool of people to play with and access to a more vibrant and active auction house marketplace. Further details on regional connection options and auction house functionality will be posted at www.diablo3.com prior to release.
How does this impact the items I have purchased in the auction house? Auction house purchases are bound to the servers in the region in which they're bought. Any items acquired on game servers in the Americas region are bound to those servers and are not transferrable to the servers in Europe or Asia (and vice versa). Please keep this in mind when making purchases in the auction house. We’ll release more details on the auction house functionality prior to the game’s release.
Please note that as these updates suggest, there will be some options with regard to the regions. We’ll be providing further information on those options, and answering any questions you may have on this change to your Diablo III home region as we get closer to release.
BattleTag Update
QUOTE
You've been heard! There's a clean up pass coming for BattleTag in the near-ish future that should resolve most of the issues with a BattleTag being displayed instead of a character name, or a character name not being displayed at all. I think it may also line up with some fixes for BattleTags here on the forums. Although I'll still think of you all as my little D3BETA's... *sniff*
BattleTag is still intended to be your big overarching account-wide identifier that will follow you from Blizzard game to Blizzard game, but individual character identity is still obviously very important.
Is it possible to change your Battletag? Mine's been Derek for really long now and obviously I didn't realize how important battletags are supposed to be... Yeah, and there are still some weird restrictions due to the language filter we have getting all jacked up. We plan to provide a name change at some point before release.
Q&A for Trading:
QUOTE
Q: Do we need to change our Battle.net info to US address in order to be able to trade in RMAH with westerners (e.g. US) or just buy the US Retail of Diablo 3 ? I am really confused...or is there any article or announcement that explains the Auction House region restriction ?
A: If I am not mistaken battle.net info will sync their servers every day.
I had previously linked my WoW TW to my battle.net acc. I did it through the SEA portal. I had problems login on to WoW that day. So I did some investigation. I found out that if I login to battle.net through the TW portal, my WoW is still not linked to it. But it had info about my SC2 and WoW:US. Then I changed the region back to SEA, I could then see all my other games plus WoW:TW. Changing the region to US and i get the same thing as the TW one.
After a day later I checked back on the TW portal and indeed my WoW:TW is there, same as the US. And I can play WoW:TW again tongue.gif
So do take note of this. When changing account info.
Oh regarding your question, yes changing your address to a US address will make you able to trade with "Ang Mohs" (Westerners) provided you can prove you really live there.

Clarifying what Hardcore mode offers
QUOTE
Is Nightmare, Hell and Infernal privileged to hardcore players only or can we softcore players also enjoy the harder difficulties? No, everyone gets all difficulty levels/skills/gear. Hardcore just has a separate AH and no currency AH... and you can die once. (Source)
How will the hardcore arena be handled? Seems like it might be a pretty empty place potentially.. Yeah, we're thinking arena death probably won't be permanent for hardcore characters. Not totally decided. (Source)
Does that mean joining hardcore games and going hostile and hunting through the acts looking 4 ur prey will no longer b an option? Correct. That will not be an option. (Source)
I just don't think I have it in me to play HC. I'd be too scared that if I died, I'd quit for good. It always had the opposite effect on me. Sure there is the initial shock and disbelief, but pretty quickly thereafter, I always want to start a new character. Because I'm so stoked for building up my banner and the things around it, I think the shock and disbelief stage will be even shorter with in Diablo III. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)
Now, what's the point of hardcore if a disconnect (which WILL happen) kills your character? You know, I never experienced a lag spike / disconnect threatening a D2 hardcore character. The big threats were always that I would get lazy and let my pots dwindle, or start a boss fight when I was tired and should have gone to bed, or got too overconfident with pulls and skipped full recovery. That sort of thing. (Blue Tracker/Official Forums)
What do i get from the Diablo 3 Collector's Edition ?

Are Collectors Edition Items unique to CE only ? Short answer, Yes.
QUOTE
All of the Collector's Edition in-game items are absolutely exclusive to the Collector's Edition. It seems the screenshot you linked is of some datamined content, which doesn't accurately reflect what's available in the game.
The wings are exclusive to the Collector's Edition. The dye colors are exclusive to the Collector's Edition. The banner sigil is exclusive to the Collector's Edition.
Don't worry. Be happy.
More info regarding the Collector Edition items
QUOTE
Q. People keep asking about the wings perk from the Collector’s Edition: How will your character receive this item? Will each character have the item, or does it have to be shared across your characters (like heirloom items did in WoW)? If a unique item, how will transferring the wings work? Can the wings be accidentally sold or destroyed? How will these wings work on a HC character when they die -- do you lose them?
Each character you make will receive CE items in their inventory. They cannot be dropped, but can be destroyed if you want the inventory space, for example. If you want them back you can transfer through the shared stash from another character.
Battlenet authenticators are they working for Diablo 3 ?
QUOTE
As of Beta Patch 15, Battle.net Authenticators have been enabled for the Diablo III beta test. If you have a Blizzard Authenticator attached to your Battle.net account, you will be prompted to enter an authentication code when logging into the beta client.
Please note that, after your first successful login with an Authenticator, you may not always receive an authenticator prompt when logging into the game. Not to worry! This is an intended convenience feature and doesn't represent a risk to your security. If you're logging in consistently from the same location, you may not be prompted for an authenticator code.
We’re working hard on balancing and testing Diablo III, and one of the major components is making sure that the end game experience is fun and exciting. We’d like to share a few of our goals for end game: We have an enormous number of skill build combinations, and we want a lot of those skill builds to be viable and interesting While there are millions of skill builds available to players, we don’t want players swapping skills regularly to beat specific encounters as they come up We don’t want repeatedly running specific three-minute chunks of the game to be the most efficient way to acquire gear for your character While a three-minute run shouldn’t be the most efficient, we also don’t want you to feel like it’s a two-hour commitment every time you sit down to play Bosses should still feel worth killing Nephalem Valor is one of the major new systems in Diablo III and it kicks in at level 60. Keep in mind that this is still in testing and we’re still working out the details. Here’s how it currently works internally: Rare and Champion packs already have great loot on them. By killing a Rare or Champion pack, not only do you get their loot, but you’ll also receive a buff granting you increased magic find and gold find. However, if you change a skill, skill rune, passive, or leave the game, the buff disappears. As an extra reward, if you kill a boss while this buff is active, you’ll receive extra loot drops from that boss.
The exact amount of magic find and gold find provided by the buff is still being reviewed, as is the amount of extra loot you get from a boss while the buff is active. We’re also playing around with whether or not the buff stacks, what the duration should be, and whether or not it should persist through death. We want to make sure the buff is strong enough to make staying in your current game more rewarding than creating a new game. At the same time, if the buff is too strong, it risks making shorter play sessions feel not worthwhile.
We expect this system will encourage players to stick with a skill build of their choice, select an area of the game they enjoy, and sweep it for rare and champion packs on their way to a boss, finishing off a run with a boss that’ll be worth killing. If you wanted a shorter play session you could be done at that point, but if you have more time, the path of least resistance would ideally be to stay in the same game and make your way towards the next boss.

Why is there no sub forum for Diablo 3 ? Well this is what i also asked the LYN moderators. I created a thread over at helpdesk, suggesting they create a sub forum in gamershideout for Diablo 3, seeing as this will be a popular game, so it was very odd why this wasn't done already.
Voice chat Diablo 3 discussions ? Where can i do this
QUOTE
Q. Okay so i've read all about Diablo 3, but now i want to discuss about it in voice chat, so where can i do this ? A. Well my recommendation is to use this voice chat on Ventrilo which is primarly used by Diablo 3 fans and gamers who are already in the beta. Below are the Vent details
Server ip: newyork.maxfrag.net Port: 4242 Password: thelordofflies
PS: This is the Vent server for Diablo Expressions which i mentioned in the post below. It's free for us by anyone, but it is strictly for Diablo 3 related only
Q. What is a good gaming keyboard for Diablo 3 ? A. Well my recommendation is to get a good quality mechanical keyboard. Me and Chuah started the 1st Malaysian lowyat Mech keyboard club to inform the newbies about quality keyboards to improve your typing and gaming experience without wearing down your fingers due to over usage. So you can head on over to that thread to find a mech keyboard recommendation for Diablo 3. Just doing my part to spread the poison http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2240947
By the way there is a Diablo 3 Key cap set being sold and talked about in the LYN Mech keyboard club

Magic find is averaged out among the group ..... (personally i hate this one the most)
QUOTE
For example, there are 4 people in the d3 group. 1 of them has 100 Magic find, while the other 3 players have 0. But with this new system, it will add up all players MF (100+0+0+0) and then divide by how many players there are in this case 4 (100/4) which results in each player getting 25% MF each.
Sounds good ? Yeah but not for the guy who originally had 100 MF only to now have 25 MF ..... and this is the gist of the issue.
Blizzard had previously stated people who use MF gear won't be any less of a contributor compared to other players, seeing as even MF gear also comes with PVE survival/dps stats as well, and especially for some gears where there are 4-6 random stats, you will most certainly find other non MF stats appended to that same gear item as well. So no, MF stackers will not be leechers. Sure they can focus on making all 4-6 stats all pve dps/survival related, but sacrifing 1 of those random stats for MF will not have any significant impact to the group, and is a personal choice for people who want to farm for rares/legendary items.
The argument that you lose MF in return for more people joining to speed up killing monsters. This is a false assumption considering that monsters get stronger when more people join.... So no, it is not a fair trade off losing your MF to gain more players.
My Solution to the issue is average out the MF as this new system, but for that person with the highest MF, if he gets no gain in MF, then his MF should remain as is which in the above example should then be 100% mf. Not to punish them by reducing theirs as other members in the group couldn't give a shit about their own MF.
People accusing MF stackers of being leechers, may be right when talking specifically about low level gear with max 2 random attributes which we most often see in the beta, which 1 of them will be the MF stat for a MF stacker. But consider this, in higher levels, items can have as many as 4-6 random stats for each piece of gear. So MF stacking with that many stat affixes is hardly an issue, seeing as MF can only occupy 1 of them, leaving 3-5 solely dedicated for DPS/survivability aka PVE stats.
So the MF stacker = leech argument is a Moot point.
Essentially the whole issue was never really about MF leechers, but more about communists/socialists and social welfare cases who thought they deserved that Magic Find stats which they never bothered to care to farm the gear for, or even thought was more important than the other stats, so their solution was to whine to blizzard and steal it from those who work hard finding the gear ....
Sure, at higher difficulty levels such as hell and inferno, it may be wiser to balance out the stats including MF, to focus more on dps and survivability. So there will be a balacing of stats similar to Diablo 2. So we will need to wait for the game release to figure out what is the minimum MF, and other PVE stats to survive and still do decent dps in Inferno. But MF stackers like myself aren't given the chance to find a balance, instead we are already penalized by having our MF stolen from us o.O; .....
The ones being punished are MF treasure hunters such as myself who wear 4-6 random stat affix gears (1 of which is a high value MF) to farm for rare/legendary, only to find ourselves forced to solo or be punished when our MF stat gets leeched from these social welfare cases aka communists in co-op

*I personally do not actively track the pricings. So to help update this list, please private message me the pricings, with links to these places or sources, so i can add to the LYN D3 discussion thread pricelist.
PS: i won't list a certain seller here from lyn, because he was very immoral by making empty promises by bumping people off the pre-order list, even after he already promised pre-orders for the first few people that requested a pre-order and were given numbers only for them to be silently changed without warning or reason provided. I won't bother advertising this seller (who shall remain unnamed) on this thread discussion at all

Diablo Expressions Description: A new up and comer Diablo 3 fansite. They don't focus on news, instead they are focused on bringing the D3 gaming community together via forum and voice chat (ventrilo). Diablo 3 is lacking voice chat, so DE kindly provided a Vent server for use by D3 gamers. They plan to upgrade their vent to support up to 500 players or more if and when it is required. The blizzard forum also lacks an avenue for clan/guild recruitment, which DE is making an avenue for such activity to take place. Also each weekend, DE will also do live stream broadcasts of D3. If you want to find out more about them, i strongly suggest you watch this intro video about DE which i helped consult them with to improve it, over here
Diablo IncGamers Description: Has a very large Diablo 3 fan community base. Sadly, because the actions of their former staff, they had a falling out with Blizzard, and have been excluded from Blizzcon events and beta key give aways. Yet despite that, you can still find very up to date news regarding Diablo 3.
Force Strategy Gaming Description: They probably are the best at making very visually attractive and detailed information laden intros concerning Diablo 3 changes. One of my favourite sites to visit. As it's much better seeing a video and hearing the documentary, rather than reading a wall of text concerning changes in the recent beta patches, or any news regarding rumored release dates for Diablo 3.
Diablo 3 Database (D3DB) Description: Probably one of the best place to view the D3 items in a database. They also have a custom made skill calculator tool available on their site as well.
Diablo Nut Description: Basically a subsidiary of IncGamers, but focuses more on providing tools like skill calculator and an item database browser for Diablo 3 gear and items. Basically it's the same thing like D3DB. You decide which you prefer to use.
Daeity's Blog Description: Unlike other Diablo 3 news sites, Daeity's is some what special. Because he doesn't care what blizzard thinks about him, he is not worried about sucking up to them. Instead he usually says whatever is on his mind regarding the changes in Diablo 3. He also tends to speculate regarding the happenings over at blizzard when it comes to Diablo 3. He does try to piece together his speculation using some facts and rumors (and sometimes even insider information) to piece together his theories. It's worth reading, if your sick of the suck up fan sites out there, and just want the plain cold hard truth :}
Well i know everyone is anxious and want to get into the beta.
If anybody has questions about the beta, since i got access to it, i can try and investigate :}
So let me know if you want to know something, because i got all the characters at LV13.
This is just my small review so far:
1. Barbarian is my favourite and my main for D3 when it comes out. Very tough sturdy character that can take the most beating especially over extended period of time. Has good dps as well.
2. Monk is pretty kewl. Has the best fighting animations i feel. However i wish his dps was better ....
3. Wizard probably has the highest dps in the beta. If your aiming for the 1 blow 20 kill achievement, your best bet is to use a Wizard, to frost and then Force Wave to complete it.
4. Demon Hunter i was skeptical at first, but after playing it, i found that i liked it which was surprising. Definitely a good candidate especially for hardcore, since your always out of range of danger, and have utilities like laying traps, or going invisible and tumbling away to safety. Has nice dps....
5. witch doctor was my least favourite. I just wasn't having much fun with this character. Probably not my playing style :} hehe..
