I usually pick cars that 80% of the allowed PP and try to win the race.

This Tsukuba is different, you should try it sweat.gif
Condition is, City Turbo II '83 must not start from 1st place.
1st place must start with MX-5, miata, or the <forgot what> GTs-R 32 or something like that.

I think some alien tai-kor here, sure can beat thumbup.gif

Later if you win, post some training pic/video, ok ? icon_rolleyes.gif

i did tried the mugen civic but understeers badly with comfort soft...so i try use FR cars only
*
The weird thing I notice is, Skid Recovery Force (SRF), if I set to Off, it will understeer a lot.
If I set to 1, it will oversteer, but good to slide little bit to take sharp corners like Tsukuba, then full throttle power out from corner.

Weird, right ? Shouldn't SRF=Off, it should throw the back easier ?

QUOTE(evoHahn @ Aug 6 2012, 01:04 PM)
heh heh i'll try  tongue.gif imho the key to winning in Tsukuba is having a short gear ratio. Installing custom transmission wont raise the PP of the car.
*
heh heh... mine installed custom trans, lowered to 180km/h. But ratio I don't know how to adjust manually rclxub.gif Perhaps you can start give some tips on what it is. What impact for low or high gear ratio by + or - it ? Seriously, I don't know how it works, even reading from internet also confusing.
I tried messing before, but on Nurb ring long straight, the top-speed does not go higher, in fact the car is slower doh.gif

Me not alien fast enough sweat.gif
Therefore, did not receive such gift.

QUOTE(evoHahn @ Aug 6 2012, 03:48 PM)
the simple way to adjust the gear ratio -

1. determine which is the longest straight on the track.
2. If you car red line at (for example) 9K rpm on 6th gear, then you should adjust your the final gear ratio so that you maxed out the rpm just about when you are braking for the corner at the end of that longest straight.
*
Err... let's say my final gear is 3.410. Current max at 250km/h. Let's say it can go until 280km/h.
So, do I tune it up or down ? rclxub.gif
up = 3.42 ? 3.43 ? or much higher 3.50 ?
down = 3.40 ? or much lower like 3.20 ?
Or based on the top-speed indicator as stated ? I try to follow that, but my car after modify final gear ratio only, the top speed from 250, goes down to 235-245 only doh.gif

QUOTE(evoHahn @ Aug 6 2012, 04:08 PM)
its hard for me to explain because i'm not that expert on that subject matter, but from wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gear_ratio
The easiest way is not to look at the numbers, but at the graph on the transmission menu. the closer the gaps of the bars on that graph, the quick your gear shift will be. But if you set the gears to close to each other, you will end up with a lower top speed because you will red line faster.

For beginners liek me, i usually meddle with the top speed column, so the game automatically adjust the gap between the gears. Expert liek to meddle with the gear ratio, for example if track C has many medium speed corners (3rd & 4th), you might wanna have a wider 3rd and 4th ratio.
*
yeah... I normally just change the max speed km/h only, and let the ratio auto-calculate. sweat.gif

wider ratio, means the RPM will drop lower when upshift ? Hence loss power ? Shouldn't it be closer ratio ? So that exiting corner, can accelerate faster and upshift while maintaining power ?
rclxub.gif Unless my understanding is wrong.

evoHahn, Invince_Z,

Thanks for the tips. Just realised yesterday I'm talking wrong thing on adjusting. It is the Final-gear ratio.

Actually, how to determine what number to use for final-gear ? higher or lower ?
or based on what ? e.g. based on the last-5th ratio ? or average of the ratio ?
Is the final-gear more for achieve high speed on long straights ?

why? i think its still the same because in the 1st lap i was down by 30 seconds.
*
Different bro. With City Turbo starting 1st, the MX/GTS-t will only overtake the first car in lap 2.5 (middle of second lap) before it pulls away. Hence, still can catch up.

Without City Turbo starting 1st, the MX/GTS-t will immediate pull away from 1st lap.

Last night I try again with Miata '89 (NA) Special, try put the final gear at max (8.0 ?) and speed at 180km/h. Seems it hit top speed around 163km/h at the end of the last long straight (Tsukuba) which is nice, as need to brake and go into corner. But time performance, not much diff for my lousy noob driving sweat.gif
1.08.x-1.09.x range only.

btw, what is the PP of your car?

and dont think without City Turbo infront it was easy peasy for me. It took me 2 hours and 3 cars just to win the race in that vid.
*
I set 420pp maximum allowable sweat.gif noob mah... then cycle the reload until City Turbo is 1st, then can gold. But that also, overtake in last few corners.

Without City Turbo, it took me ~2 hours also, but only 2nd place +0.48x seconds sweat.gif
Still can't get first. This one using Mugen Motul. Will keep trying and dupe another car without engine upgrade stage 3. Also will try apply the final gear tips.

Round 6 GT5 Academy prize car is available now

Here's my second attempt to win Tsukuba without City Turbo infront (damn you cute_boboi! tongue.gif)

[attachmentid=2990995]

This car can do high 1.07 and low 1.08 and finished 8 secs behind the leader. Probably you guys wanna give it a try, the setup

tongue.gif Very challenging ma... that's why insist you try lor. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Will try with your shared setup. To me, the Mazda '89 is slower than Mugen Motul.
Mazda I can get 1.07-1.09, so far best is finish 2nd +9 sec
Mugen I manage 1.06-1.08, with fastest lap (manage to tail-gate on long straight) at 1.05.x, best finish 2nd +0.48x

Repeat: Above is without City Turbo starting 1st.

Seems like you tune down <420pp. No MX-5 or GTs-t on the list tongue.gif

Anyway, with retry on a brand new Mugen Motul, no upgrade, tune down until 420pp, with settings, I can get 1st at 5th lap, at the 3/4 lap of it. smile.gif

I think is track dependent. For longer tracks, can set lower PP as got more time + track to chase smile.gif

Anyway, during Raya break, I did another run ... the last of the race!

A-Spec 24-hours Nürburgring

Sun night : 2 hours

Mon 2 sessions : 7.5 + 2.5 hours

Tue 2 sessions : 9.5 + 2.5 hours

Wed : Goto work rclxub.gif

My eyes are like this last night blink.gif Still in recovery mood today.

QUOTE(bruce07 @ Aug 30 2012, 10:37 AM)
guys juz wanna ask... for GT5 in the Seasonal Event (Top Gear Test track - Intermediate Lvl)... is there any best way to pass it??? noobie here using G27... when driving the bloody lotus elise car it keeps spinning out even if I din touch on the brakes.. ~~ need some guidance...
*
The Lotus is tough (at least to me n00bie) to Gold. I gave up after 2 hours.
Few months later, I retry and manage to Gold after another 2 hours.

My ways:
1) Get used to how the car slide. From there, I don't follow the driving-line aid, and also slightly different braking point at some corners.

2) When on medium speed, do not turn sharp and accelerate. Control accelerate to ensure no red-tyres. Tyres squealing is fine though, as long no red. Sometimes I do slight early braking from the driving line.

3) Brake in straight line only.

4) Full accelerate when clear to get out of corners only.

5) Since the car slide so easy, I set all aid Off, except TCS=1 or 0.

Tips: Minimum overtaking to achieve gold, I try to recall since quite a long while ago:
i) First left corner (Wilson), brake early on the inside line, slide and overtake 1 car. If done well, you can overtake 2nd car also. Otherwise, when power out from that corner, can easily overtake 2nd car. No red tyres, as it will slow down considerably.

ii) Late brake and slide a bit before going into Chicago. Overtake 1 car, depending on how fast on you going. You can go slightly out the line before that bunch of tyre-barrels.
When entering Chicago, early braking, overtake another 1 car from right also.
Power out from Chicago, overtake another 1 car, and you should draft another car in front.

iii) Brake on time, and slide in straight line (don't turn) before entering Hammerhead. You should overtake the car you draft here. Start to throw the car left, then sharp right.

iv) Hammerhead, sometimes you can overtake 1 car also, or when power out into the straights. Draft the next car.

(v) Full-throttle on follow-through. The car will slide out, so you need to turn early and let that slide (no red tyres) power you over the corner.

(vi) Straighten up and turn into Bentley, full power. I go right-most and not follow line. Unless there is a car here to draft.

(vii) Brake late in straight line, overtake 1 car before enter Bacharach. Sometimes if slow, will straight reach bumper and can overtake after enter Bacharach. This will be a fast power-slide and if done correctly, is a very fast maneuver to overtake, and at the same time catch up to draft next car.

(viii) Take the last Gambon corner and you will draft the next car. Which is the 2nd place car if I recall correctly. I'm in 3rd now.

(ix) Draft, and can overtake the 2nd car at Wilson during enter/exit corner. Otherwise, if overtake at Chicago, seems like not enough time to catch 1st car, better to restart (at least to me).

(x) Keep chase/draft 1st car along the straights. The 1st car is fast and far ahead. For my gold, I only manage to overtake 1st at the 2nd last corner, Bacharach.

During my time, it is so easy to DQ if bang opponent's car, or hit some specific cones, or out-of-line. Not sure if updates has simplified it or not.

The above are rough count on the cars where I overtake. Hope it helps.
