The limited resource aspect of SC5 is definitively an interesting addition. Past SC have always been infinite where all you do is focus on acquiring taxes and some trade. Wonder how they get it to work out.

Also here's hoping there's a more variation to disaster this time. laugh.gif

Well I don't dare to preorder this game since Sim City Societies gave me a nightmare.
I am going to wait for reviews even though I'm eagerly waiting for this game.
I hope its like simcity 4 with improved graphics, improved algorithms especially traffic, improved building capabilities(more types of roads instead of just building blocks) and retain the ability to mod and build custom buildings.

Same.

To be honest, there's little or no incentive to pre-order an EA game.

Haha.

No. Always-online DRM is always bad and would always fail.

Pass.

EDIT: EA is making it really easy to boycott their products. Smooth move, EA. Smooth move. To think I was actually interested in this despite the Mass Effect 3 fiasco.

abit of it:
QUOTE
Multiplayer

That's right, multiplayer is coming to SimCity. You will join up and form regions, which lets you share resources and influence each other for good or for ill. In the examples we saw, one player shared some excess energy he had generated with his neighbors, while another player, whose city generated a lot of crime, inadvertently raised the others' crime rates. On a larger scale, all players in SimCity will influence the global market: a place where resources are bought and sold. Prices will shift based on supply and demand, and you can track who the big players are in each resource though leaderboards.

The global market is not an auction-house style of service; you will not directly buy from and sell to each other. Instead, you purchase goods from the market. The finer details of how this will work in the game are still in development, but our main concern is how people will try to break it. What will the limits of a player's influence be? How will the game change when you're not online? Does that mean you lose access to the global market, a service seemingly designed to be both a resource safety net and a way to earn some extra cash? How Maxis balances this service whether you're playing online or offline could greatly determine if this is a single-player- or multiplayer-focused game.

UPDATE 28/03/12 After this preview was published, EA confirmed that SimCity would require a persistent internet connection to play, due to the pervasiveness of the online features.

sounds like what tropico did years ago. Hopefully they have railroads or other types of public transportations so city roads wont devolve to massive car parks like in tropico.

Wow, after the whole Mass Effect 3 fiasco and it's forced multiplayer, now, i am forced to deal with other people in the new Sim City.

Okay, pass for me. Please, for gawd sakes, not every single game needs some sort of multiplayer. To be honest, this sounds like a glorified farm ville or city ville with a fancy engine. Sometime, i want to be forever alone, so, let me be forever alone then.

EA is definitely the new Ubisoft, they are trying so hard to put people off from buying their games.
