I'm not really looking forward for SimCity 2013 tbh. If anything I'll just fire up SimCity 4 again.

Especially so after reading this:

http://sc2013thedeception.blogspot.com/201...e-to-maxis.html

Of course, I still hope that EA didn't really screw up this series. Used to and am still able to sink countless hours into SimCity 4.

after one year and at a huge discount

with all or most of the dlcs included

if not, better don't bother.

I have to agree to people that says something like....

QUOTE
don't treat SC2013 as a sequal to SC4 ; SC2013 is not SC5

If this game not been named as SimCity, it may have a better perspective from overall players. But as it already carries that name, indirectly people will hope it live up to the legacy of SimCity4, which is NO WAY it will able to, as far as what we've seen.

There are just too many brilliant mods people made for SC4, you will be extremely shocked of the capabilities of those little jigsaw puzzle pieces if you never dive into those things yet. Though there are limitation in the original game itself that hold up the creativity especially on the problem on item navigation. Imagine if you have 1000 different park pieces on your park menu.............. whistling.gif

Considering that EA has screwed up NFS, Battlefield, Dragon Age, Mass Effect and so on, I doubt they wont screw up the new Sim City.

Also, expect to see microtrasaction shops in the game too, like pay 5USD for some in game money as financial "aid" for your city.

Well, give it 3 months. And we'll see how things grow.
I don't put much hope on it to be honest.

Microtransaction isn't all bad la. Take TF2 (ya I know I shouldn't take TF2 as example) la, not good meh? I think so far so good.

Also, if you like the game so much and you willing to pay extra $$ for either cosmestics/in-game cash exclusive item, then I think it's fine. Take GW1 for example, where I spend more than USD100 for pure cosmestics, LOL (a bit regret, but nevertheless good old time is way more priceless)

Yes yes we all know MMO majority have micro transaction practise, which is not a problem at all. But this is not a MMO... or since when SimCity become a MMO? OK OK, since this game.

I dont mind if its comestic items, but knowing EA, they will probably give players advantages if they decide to pay up or make those random, gambling like packs that gives you random stuff each time you pay, just like those in ME3 multiplayer.

Microtrasaction is ok, if the items are cosmestic only or it speeds up process, but when you start altering gameplay by giving massive advantages or putting exclusive paid only gameplay affecting content, that is when you cross the line, while the game becomes pay2win.

IMHO, unless it's something like D3, gambling packs in ME3 is ok, provided they don't limit some exclusive pack just can only be purchased with cash. As of fact, ME3 not really considered as microtransactions. I don't see any exclusive "cash only items", or probably I have missed it.

I don't see Simcity as Competitive, even they have made it online, or whatever linked up to playing with your friends, expanding social networks. Even if they did release some cash exclusive in someway altering your gameplay or not, it's your choice to pay or not. If you don't pay, you continue to play as per normal, without affecting your game or whatsoever.

World of Tank is another example of good MT (for the sake of shortening the microtransactions). There's exclusive paid tank, which works better than whatever their tiers is, but nevertheless the game is somehow balanced out so paid tank are only tad much of advantages.

Age of Empires Online is a form of MT that nobody will like (I believe). That is purely paid to win game (Kona did play with me for a while before we gave up, LOL)

Simcity, unless EA going to screw them and make it into war between cities, then without a doubt, an online features added into the game is a good features, and MT will make it way better for those who are passionate with the game.

With very few exceptions, premium (or paid) tanks are usually worse than elited tanks of the same tier. They're great credit earners/crew trainers though, but nothing a free tank cannot do.

Don't forget what makes SC4 still a good game to play till today- MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD ALL FREE MOD!!!

But I'd not going to go into this new SC anyway due to several reasons- visual style is one thing.
