Hi all,

Didn't see a topic about the new SimCity game - so here it is, confirmed by Maxis and EA.

IGN - SimCity announcement

EA and Maxis have announced SimCity, the newest, non-numbered version of the classic city-building franchise. Built using Maxis' GlassBox Engine, SimCity is only on PC and will launch sometime in 2013.

Great start, but they didn't indicate it should be a "5", it's called SimCity. wink.gif

Shall Societies be counted as part of the Simcity Franchise?

Cities XL is actually somewhat better than that fictional SimCity Societies game you talk about. It's like a hybrid of SC1 and SC4 (zoning style of SC1, but complicated enough with over a dozen zone types. Just too bad zones cannot merge to form larger building)...

Anyways, happy to hear that it will be complicated like SC4. Now if they just put in ability to jail or fire advisers if you feel they do wrong...

Yeah.

If they can fix the slightly broken traffic model in SC4, that'll be great. (NAM already does this, but I think it also indirectly crashed my game at times.)

Yeah some of the traffic puzzle pieces will crash the game if they overlap with other pieces...

What I really want is the ability to zone things in total freedom, like residential is damn far away from factory. They did mention this in their comment so, should be fine. I hate that when i zone residential and their work place very far in SC4, black buildings start to appear =/

Oh, if anyone don't want to go through all those extra user comments can read here for the Q&A summary: http://www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/_/simci...transcript-r232

So far looks pretty promising, as they aim to visualize the simulation so the players know what's going on. Those YouTube video do show very clearly what's really going on. Just hope the final product have the graphic level as good as the trailer sweat.gif

You could do that in SC4, with NAM. They greatly optimised the traffic simulator. The whole reason you get black buildings is that in the orginal simulator, the game chooses the shortest route, instead of the the route that save more time. NAM forces it to choose the time saving route instead, at a cost of increased processing power.

Maybe you could add highways? Those are very good for fast travel.
