secondly, since a new thread already... im taking the opportunity to post up my current "not yet finished" tank latest progress photo. it's been 10th week at the moment. i'll need about 3-4 weeks more to have full-scape view plus some minor scaping have been done. will post up photo when the tank is ready for final photo. anyway, mind my cheap quality camera ya. HD and better version only when the tank is ready tongue.gif

ADA Brighty K basically contains potassium. while Saechem Nutrient i am not sure but i am sure it;s not same as Brighty K because Saechem have another product similar to Brighty K which is "Saechem Potassium". hehe..

Just another of my playground... plus, i am not interested with IAPLC or any competition actually (because i know i still sux and wont get in par with all those super-god). i just enjoy the hobby as it is.

for more details, you can follow my journal in my FB (sorry.. i dont open journal in MAC or anywhere.. lazy).

Here's my journal in my FB album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2...=3&l=c7a7b9d890

wow...nice tank!

Sifu.. how come your moss so 'fat'.. my moss very thin and long but not dense. why?
*
-first of all, im no sifu.. im just like you ...another hobbyist.
- 2ndly, my moss isnt thick also. hahahaha...~! at least not yet. for the past 3 weeks i;ve been cutting down lot of nutrient, lights and co2. so the growth rate become damn slow (luckily other plants not dead).
- but my tips with moss, it;s not how u grow it... it;s how the way u tie it initially that determines the dense and uniforms when it full grown.

you should help me sketch my future low budget tank layout  rolleyes.gif

- sketches? hahaha.... anyone also can sketch la. i sketch damn rough one...and usually it's only me could understand. hahahah XD

QUOTE(kurangak @ Mar 20 2012, 11:33 PM)
if u dont want to submit it to IAPLC, can i submit ur tank under my name? lol j/k

btw from ur exp, which one is easier to plant? HC or glosso?

n from ur FB, i see u used H202 for BGA . how did u dose it? spot-treat or dump it into water column?

sorry for the amount of question i gave u.
*
- to me glosso is more easier to grow, but hc is more easier in planting.
- i didnt use h2O2 for BGA. i rarely have BGA problem in my tanks. but i use it to fight HA. HA love my tanks so much. every tank i setup sure will need to battle with HA. damn~ and yes, i use spot treatment.

my tank above having JHG + HC and the tank have gone thru with no lights at all, just ambient light for 3 weeks. they didnt die in my tank either.. dun underestimate your plants surviving capability u know.. flex.gif

worst to come is just the glosso would grow vertical for a while until the next trim. laugh.gif

i dont really clearly see which are the yellow forming thing u mentioned but how long your tank have been setted up? it might be diatoms. otto and yamato would help you. they'll eat these soft-soft stuffs.

on the picture.u will noticed there's a few spots of white. the rest are yellowish

i think my tank is up for 1 and a half month now.
*
when did the first sign of this thing appeared that you started to notice? i assume this is just a normal diatoms. happens to new tanks most of the time. u'll get it cleared earlier with otto and yamato or u can jsut leave it just like that..... when the time coems, it will dissappear by itself. but you can always vacuum your gravels too. just use the hose when the time you do your WC.

erm not really have any budget in mind. i was thinking to spend any amount just for the necessaries. but of coz not too high budget sweat.gif max i can go maybe around rm300? beginner set up will do, no need pro stuffs
*
see, 300.. that's a number already biggrin.gif
...let's see what you can have in 300.

Non-ADA Aquasoil = RM40
Rocks = RM100
Plants = RM30
Lighting = RM60
DIY CO2 = RM 10
HOB Filter = RM25
Saechem Excel = RM50
Small Fan (Optional) = RM35

= RM345 / RM315 (w/o fan).

tadaa... iwagumi~ hu hu hu!!!

minus the lighting and DIY CO2 = RM265 = pretty nice lowtech tank. woot~

p/s: this if i were you, otherp eople might have their own budgetting but sure something could come out.. biggrin.gif

What a stubborn hair algae. just cleaned my tank this maghrib. wc 30% and clean the glass with razor blade. then throw away dead plants that been sucked their life by hair algae. throw severe plants that infected by hair algae. after finished. i clean the wet floor. 3hours after that, see hair algae spread at tank glass and at some new plant. oh my god. what a frustation. can u all help giving advise on how to stop this algae from keep attacking my the only first tank? sad.gif
*
hair algae on tank glass? that's nasty. LOL~ but still isnt as hard as until can become a treescape... tongue.gif try to pick manually using hands. when u scrape, those spores might floats everywhere and might starts another new shoots. use finger or toothbrush. and dip in another tap water bucket. bla bla bla.. repeat the process. minimize the growth, and let your cleaner crews taking care of those 'soft' ones. while at the meantime, get ur tank back in balance.

i've some stones underneath to create the slopes. i didnt mix with holland sand. all amazonia II soils with finer grains on top layer. i think i used around 2-1/2 bags and 1 bag for finer grains.
