Thanks for both your pictures smile.gif I will go lowyat to check out 240v fan or any equivalent fans with high speed and low noise. ALL IT shop has all the fans hanging, will be checking out the prices there, hopefully there will be adapter to be sold too.

If I buy a 240v fan, I will have to purchase a 240v adapter too right? I wonder if there is anyway to adjust the fan speed?

240v fan if ac type, no need adapter. Can straight plug into socket. Always ask the seller if u have any doubts. Remember, electricity and water dun mix...

Safe aquascaping!
*
Haha, 240v was a bad example tongue.gif If let's say I am using a 220v, then I'll need a 220v adapter, true? unsure.gif

Ya, don't want to end up with fish bones left when I get home..

Btw, I am worried after installing a 13w light to my tank.. The light casing is extremely hot, so I was worried if I left it on and no one is at home it might catch fire sweat.gif End up I am providing my tank light at 7pm-12am sad.gif

malformed : usually AC got a range. 220v to 240v is ok to use.

lighting up at night will not be advisable coz ur plants only photosynthesis during day time... night time, they use up the oxygen in ur tank....

having said that, i wonder how plants tell time of the day... hmmm
*
I will try to leave the light on this weekend when there's people at home and see the result, seeing that the light casing heats makes me worried..

If I don't connect it to an adapter, you mean to directly connect the 2 wires to a 2-pin socket?

not really, my light period is 4pm - 11pm.
everything still looks good.

but light period 7pm-12am seems too short. at least 6hours, better if you put on 8hours per day.
do not change your light period too often.
*
I get home around 7pm, slightly more or less.. and when I go to sleep it is 12am.. On the other hand, if I were to leave the light on while at work, I will turn it on at 8 in the morning and off 7pm at night (11 hours~).. Don't seem like a healthy lighting for my fishes hmm.gif

Where can I get it? I thought it cost more than 100rm...

QUOTE(cute_miao @ May 9 2012, 12:34 PM)
Thanks. by the way, what is the auto refill thing?
*
What auto refills refers to is that when the water level in your aquarium drops and hits a specific water level / amount, the device will pump in water to your tank until it is higher than that level.. I think these stuff are costly, besides, if water pumped in to the tank is automated, how do you control the water quality?

it serve same as the water bucket on your toilet bowl, refill water until certain level.
so it can maintain your aquarium water level.
disadvantage is that you need to have extra equipment inside your aquarium, not to mentioned you need to attach a direct water pipe.

So, does the autotimer turns on / off based on the time or based on a countdown? Thanks for the help weijie notworthy.gif

autotimer turn on/off based on mechanical time.
when you plug timer to power, you need to adjust what is current time.
then normally there is be small switches to control to ON. so when ON, then power flow through, then ON your light.
this is what we been using for co2 tank. everything is automatic smile.gif
you only need to refill water and sit back relax.

Added on May 9, 2012, 12:50 pm
riccia same as moss, co2 is optional for them, if you put then they will grow nicely, if you never put then they will still survive, AS LONG AS you got correct light power.
if you want to know more about light power which suitable for your aquarium, please refer to my wordpress blog.
mini fissiden need cold water, if you water is more than 29C, dont take the risk, as they are not cheap

This is good stuff thumbup.gif

I am thinking, how long does the ADA remain in good condition in the water? Do you ever change the soil? Once you have setup your planted tank, is it possible to remove the water and soil to rescape using the existing plants?

I want to buy plants to setup with my 2.5ft tank, but I don't want to do any nice scaping yet, just want to take care and grow them.

True, there is no point if you are keep blowing aquarium water with hot air.
ADA soil can last 2year at least before they start changing into mud. if you dont rescape frequently, they can last longer.
however, nutrient in ADA soil is another story. it might not break into mud yet, but nutrient is finished. duration is depending on how density is your plants, and how good your plants taking nutrient from soil.

once planted tank is setup, if you want to change scape, it is better to take out all plants, put your stones and woods nicely, then only plant them again.
it is advisable to put some new soil everytime you rescape to replace.
*
Thank you for info notworthy.gif

QUOTE(jctasoga @ May 9 2012, 01:27 PM)
re-scape = more business for LFS and sellers (points to weijie)... *cabutz*

but i second opinions of weijie about the nutrient reduction from the ADA soil overtime. you might be able to extend the life of the soil by adding multi or iron capsules. there are sellers in this forum (points to weijie) that gives u good service n pricing too.

Came home to find out the temperature in my aquarium is 30.7, lowest seen was 28.7.. Is this a big difference?

Is it possible to set up a tank under the ceiling, but side exposed to the sun, without algae?

If sifu tak tau, beginner like me impossible will tau... but Google tells it is possible, just that it is not so popular for aquariums. Maybe this link may help

http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/emergency...oweroutages.htm

Maybe if someone get suppliers on this, a new business product will be sold whistling.gif
