You can have as big as 6feet tank, or even 1f tank (or smaller) to start with. Try to read and see the photos being shared by the members in here.

Try to read this :http://aquascapeworld.wordpress.com/ (weijie)

replace your 11w tube, get soil and plant - RM100+-, low tech planted tank done  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
Some of you keep your tanks in your room, but if you have the co2 tank, isn't it bulky? Replace the 11w tube with apa ya smile.gif

Haha, at least now I will know where to start, change the soil and plant first it is then! Get thermometer and bps counter too (important kit right?) flex.gif

Like I said earlier, the tube sudah rosak when I came back sweat.gif Any suggestions as to a good lighting for 1ft? Where to get that co2 set? I thought of trying to put some java moss into my existing tank to see how things end up.

When you all change your tanks water, what water do you use? My tangki air is yellowish recently sad.gif

Are these tanks sold in Puchong IOI Mall? Passed by there few times and saw a shop selling aquariums, probably this is what's being sold. I wonder how good is the filtration system. Thanks arrow biggrin.gif Any idea any where or which shopping mall I can check out on this info?

I have 1.... but the brightness is just for moss grow not made for planted tank...
*
How do you justify the brightness ya? I thought the light is only used to affect the temperature of the water.. How should I determine which LED should I guess icon_question.gif

yweising, 100 is still tolerable I guess hmm.gif

The calculation per watt but LED is different calculation...

For LED in planted tank you need CREE type the one I have is a SMD type the lighting is not very strong...
*
Will CREE be suitable for moss too? Not sure if my lfs got sell it..

moss no need CREE  biggrin.gif
i think CREE set will not be suit your budget
normal led set find weijie, around 100 but the effect on plant is more or less same as your 11w light tube  tongue.gif
*
Then why get something different from the 11w light tube rclxub.gif this is getting me more and more headache haha.

CREE is suitable if you suddenly changed your mind to upgrade to high light plants.
in planted tank, we are all people with tangan gatal. i cant resist when there is mood to rescape. lol
however, CREE LED light has no ready made light casing in market. mostly i will try to DIY and test with calvin_ng, maybe middle of august.
will share the total cost and result after completed.
does current 11w light suits your tank?
although LED light has lower heat dissipated, but i dont think 11w light will affect much of your water temperature.
*
So I guess should just get a simple LED lighting.. Is T5 suitable (I apologise if I am asking totally different stuffs here). My Aquazonic spoilt 2 days ago, I don't know what is wrong with it so now I need to get a new one. On a side note, I'm going to get java moss to get my journey started so maybe a recommendation on what light I should get would be easier laugh.gif

Moss using  Creed LEDs?
wahaha.. damn rich  notworthy.gif

i just use 11w-18w  normal light for them..and they still growing.

*
Haha, no la boss, my knowledge is limited so I don't know much.. please give me guidance sweat.gif

IMHO, LED light set does not emit full spectrum of light.
if you compare white florescent and white LED, color of plants with white florescent turns out to be more natural.
That is one of the reason why normally blue LED is added light set.
still, i would suggest to use back T5HO since it is much more easy to replace faulty parts and cheaper price.
*
I am using a clip on lighting by Aquazonic. But I don't like the casing because I have to twist and bend it so that it will light the tank nicely. I think I need to change this casing.

Why is it people prefer LED over fluorescent if I judge from your point of view unsure.gif I go check at my lfs and find out if they have T5HO smile.gif

Edit: I forgot to mention it is for the 1ft tank notworthy.gif

Because people always think that LED save lots of electricity and generate much lesser heat.
they didnt notice that color temperature and light intensity penetration is important too.
*
I know not much, so I always thought LED is better for the tank laugh.gif
