I believe it's based on Merchant Category Code of the EDC terminal which your card was swipe on.
Did you see the cashier swipe your credit card ? Did he do a retry on different EDC terminal ?

Years ago I did a Cash Advance...I remember on the slip would state "Cash" or something similar...the slip I have now is "Credit Sales"...which I presume = Retail

Do you have an invoice of the payment description (itemised) from Genting ?
This invoice would have the date/time, payment method (i.e. CC number) and approval code, which can be use to dispute the charge as Cash Advance.
BTw, which credit card did you use ?

The bill/invoice I've thrown, but I still have the credit card printout slip which has all the approval code, amount, date etc

I'm using UOB ONE card. Who in right mind would think about the posting date? If u state "From 27th March 2012 onwards...", any layman also would take it that if u swipe on 26th it would be ok

Their merchant bank is Maybank

The bill would show the item description to "dispute" your case.
Where did you see the 27th March 2012 onwards message ?

IF they based on Posting Date..... then really sorry for your case. Maybe your "winnings" in Genting could cover the fees ?
UOB is very calculative bank...

That means I have to go up snap photo of Genting's notice? doh.gif
They paste the notice at the casino cage cashier where I bought the Premium Programme.

Nvm lar, worst case just pay. ONE card rebates and cash backs 1 month already got RM20-30, I've been using it for years already.

Never throw away a bill/invoice until you settle the bill at least.

Since buying casino chips is specifically stated at the back of your statement as a cash advance transaction, it does not really matter whether Genting staff was in the wrong or not. Escaping in the past from this T&C doesn't mean you will always be able to escape indefinitely.

There was never such statement.

Buying casino chips=/=Buying casino programme which involves free room, buffet and chips
