Check out new phones specs.. soon s2 will be feeling slow already compared to all these beast

OS Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
Chipset Nvidia Tegra 3
CPU Quad-core 1.5 GHz
GPU ULP GeForce

Sad to say, but usually phones active lifespan is about 1 to 2 years.

When SGS 3 comes out, most ROM developer and users like you all will slowly move on to SGS3 and SGS2 threads will be quiet and slow down. Even stock rom release will slow down.

For those of us who has own a SGS before, you will know what I mean.

The SGS thread in Lowyat forum has slowed down...only Thread V22 whereas SGS2 thread is already V28....bear in mind SGS came out close to 9 months to a year before SGS2 came out. Even official Stock Rom is stuck at XXJVU for quite some time already if I am not mistaken....

SGS2 will face the same fate once SGS3 comes out in March...so in the mean time enjoy our ROM flashing while it last...

..slowly they will also fade out all the casing and screen protectors for old phones like SGS...

Just my 2 cents...don't shoot me sweat.gif

Btw, I'm still having a SGS(wife using) and SGS2...

Looks like soon everyone be using and talking about quad core... dual core will be so yesterday  cry.gif
*
I hope SGS3 will have quad core...haha...then I will convince someone to get rid of the old SGS and take my SGS2...so that I sacrifice and test the SGS3.. tongue.gif

Agreed. Since they wanna showcase, at least give one that expires in x days.

To actually try for that price...

Better still, check out the permissions. I know with all the features some are needed, but still, who's to say no battery drain. Not gonna spend that kinda money to find out
*
Okay, I will be the guinea pig. I will buy and try the launcher

Okay, this is my personal opinion.

What I like:
The interface is different (which is refreshing) if you are bored with the existing launchers available. The transition animation for apps in 1st page homescreen has this rotating effect which is quite nice.

What I don't like:
1) All the apps are displayed at the 1st Homescreen. They don't have a Apps Drawer. I don't like to see all my apps all the time. They should be hidden and I only bring out those I always use to put in Homescreen.

2) Other than the 1st Homescreen page, you have 4 more pages of Screen for you to customise. You can put in Widgets, favourite app, contact etc. However, to move from 1st Page to 2nd Page, you cannot just scroll over. You need to press the bottom left button first, then move your finger to switch to the preferred page. A bit more leceh.

3) Very limited widgets from TSF. Only got Notes, Weather and Music widgets.

4) All the Icons are not very sharp (resolution wise). it doesn't looks Crisp and professional like SPB Shell. In fact their icons, weather widgets etc looks very "cartoonish" and "kids like"...not my cup of tea.

5) They don't have good Contacts, Agenda, News widgets etc like in SPB shell. So you have to download your own apps. In SPB Shell, you don't have to download additional stuff. They have a nice Contacts Widget to put in all your favourite contact, the Agenda/ calendar widget is there. SPB Shell also has in-built widget for your to see your Battery Percentage, switch brightness of screen function etc without downloading extra apps.

6) On the main homescreen, they don't have the regular Phone, Contact, Message button at the bottom...so again, very leceh to do simple function like making a call...

To be fair,TSF Shell is just released, maybe over time they will improve and add more widgets...so, let's wait and see.

My main problem with it is Item (4) above, somehow the icons, colour, text etc doesn't look refine and professional enough...a bit too childish for me.....however, I saw a option to change Theme in TSF Shell....so perhaps in the future they have other Themes to play with...fingers crossed...

Anyway, I only played with it for 10 mins and uninstalled & refunded.....perhaps I have not discovered all the tricks and customisation yet....so, maybe more of you guys should install and try it and give your feedback here....

Ah nice review. Picked up so many things in 10 mins thumbup.gif Think you hit home on alot of important points, definitely not taking this till they improve.
Any idea in that short time if you can change the default screen? Like how you hate the default screen having all the apps, can push that to the back?

Also, how to make call then? o.O No dock so find phone app? o.O
*
No, I didn't try very hard to change the default screen..so not sure can or not...

To make call, I guess you can copy the Phone Dialer / Contact app into your customise screen...and click on it to launch it....alternatively you can create a Contacts folder and dump some of your regular contacts inside (like their demo screen in the Market) but this is so not friendly....I still prefer the GO Contact or SPB Shell Contact widget where you can see the photo of your favourites contact and you can click on it to call, sms, see contact details, video call etc....

After a few hit and miss, finally getting the hang of flashing rom and kernel..kinda. Quite happy now with superROM v2 and Lucifer kernel. Thanks to the help and advice I've got here.

One question though, is it normal for a yellow triangle appeared at model logo bootscreen?
*
No, the yellow triangle is not normal. It shows that you have flashed a custom ROM.....you can get rid of it. The simplest way is to get the USB Jig.

Mind sharing your speedtest results ?
When doing the speedtest make sure select Cyberjaya. I have posted mine, Im on Digi and coverage was full bar when test was done with "H" sign
*
I did 2 tests using 3G data (maxis). I selected KL and Seri Kembangan. I'm very far from Cyberjaya, so doesn't make sense to select Cyberjaya...

Different results...

maxis brought down the price... damnnnnnnnn
*
Yes, Maxis has lowered their price. Can consider now.

My Maxis is under contract because I bought my SGS2 at RM 799 only! Yup, I was the first 300 customers to own the SGS2 when it was launched last June 2011.

My data plan is RM78 for 5GB (recently upgraded from 3GB to 5GB).

I can't run MC3 on NEAK with Turkbey v35, it was ok when Turkbey v33
*
This is my theory. Most of us having problem playing with MC3 are those who downloaded the Free Promotion from Samsung Apps.

After you install, you can play. It recognises your existing ROM when it was downloaded. Once we flash to another ROM, MC3 will not be able to play....

True?

Someone here recommended Foxhound Batista.

Thebyani also quite popular.

CriskeloServan Team also not bad...

Maybe you can try and share with us your feedback?

Checking out NEAK again. I really liked it but had to stop using it because it had no USB OTG support on 1.3.2x. I hope 1.4 is better. I find that RP causes the phone to crash when OC'ed to 1500MHz. Even after increasing the voltage it crashes.
*
I just checked out of curiousity.

I'm running Turkbey v37 with Neak 1.3.3. I plugged in my USB OTG and it works. No problem at all.

I guess your problem is not due to Neak kernel.

Yeah, but then I already redownloaded from Samsung Apps and it still could not run.
*
Maybe you can only download one time. After that it recognises your phone is downloading more then 1 time then cannot...maybe they give free to 1 phone, 1 IMEI number, 1 ROM, 1 time only.....haha...

Yeah definitely. Its good that Maxis is doing this now after so long. Been waiting for this but still phobia of Maxis hidden data charges in my bills last time. The main reason I switched to the yellow side. Need to get over thisĀ  sweat.gif
*
Dont't worry.

With maxis, now you can dial *136*9# to check your data usage every now and then if you are concern.

With 3G Watchdog or Onavo, you can monitor your data usage too.

I have been using Maxis 3G data plan since my SGS days from Sept 2010 until now...and never been overcharged a single time.....so, if you monitor your data and be careful, you don't have to worry.

At least you get decent speed.

Digi plan is unlimited but once you exceed, they throttle and slow you down until it's unusable which is as good as no data plan...it is just a marketing gimmick..."unlimited"...

Just my 2 cents...
