wrong info dude. Abyss Kernel is flashed just to enable you to flash MidNote ICS. You CANNOT flash Abyss 3.9 then reboot MidNote ICS ROM, it will HANG!!!

there is no custom kernel yet for ICS ROM on Note yet, so dun even try!!

google is your best friend. I believe there is certainly a way - maybe export your SE contact to a standard format like CSV and import it into your gmail account.

HTC has a very good transfer program which not only transfer contacts but also all the sms from SE to HTC phones. My wife manage to transfer all the contacts and SMS flawlessly from her old SE750i to the HTC Desire I pass to her.

I am not so fortunate though, coz that transfer program can't recognise my Palm 680. So googled around and found some ways to export the contact from the Palm and import back to Gmail via computer. But all the sms gone.

wow.. nice, hopefully XDA will get a custom rom adapted to it soon. If it reduce the lag, i might go back to GB. Although ICS ROM is smooth and fast but the non display of CallerID on my set really tearing my hair off.

But AP set cheaper by a lot? if I were you, i will pay for the warranty. I only buy "AP" phone on my own, i.e. i crossover to Singapore to get a singapore local set if it is cheaper there.

if 200-300 difference not worth at all. but of course if you are looking only for the white colour then it is personal preference, price difference is not relevant.

any previous white galaxy S or S II owner here? I am just wondering whether white colour set will turn yellowish or not after some time - like 2 years? Might get a white S III for my wife for her birthday present end of this year but i am quite concern of the potential yellowish problem. The HTC desire i pass to her seems not able to catch up anymore. Play Cut the rope on it and it will lag.

i tested the demo set too, very smooth and fast. Very tempted to get, waiting for the price to drop further but Google Asus is planning a 7" tablet too, so might wait and see. Not urgently looking for a tablet coz my Note can act as one now.

BTW, downloading MidNote 1.6 GB with LC1 now. Will revert back to GB ROM till the callerID problem solve on ICS leaked rom or until the official ROM released by Samsung. No luck of CallerID in my Note with ICS ROM...sigh...

i think it is just norm among Android phone, maybe iphone too but since i din have an iphone before, i will not comment on it.

My previous HTC Desire and Desire HD also won't last too long if playing games constantly on it. If you want to enjoy the device, go get some power for it, it needs energy too. Do you expect yourself to run marathon for 2 hours and dun feel exhausted?

Btw, i just revert back to basic stock LC1 Rom. But it does seems much smoother and responsive than previous GB ROM.

yes, me and my wife did use that app, seems safe. But we dun have much money in internet-link account anyway. Normally bank in the fund, transfer them to pay bills and credit card immediately, just left few hundreds or less for daily use. Although Internet banking should be quite safe if you follow the strict discipline but no system is hack-proof, so i rather play safe.

but if you have not get a magnetic case, why risk it? Just get a non-magnetic type for peace of mind.

can use more than 1 launcher just a bit leceh. when you press the middle button, need to select which launcher to use everytime if you din specific a default launcher.

I am using a SGP book type - non-magnetic. Very slim and compact.

yes, i also have the same habit, download user guide and read thru thoroughly before i got the actual device on hand. But i admit somehow i din go thru the whole Note's user guide coz have been quite familiar with Android. And the fact that i got the device on day 1 make reading the user guide less "important".

yes, i find it annoying too when some one asking some basic questions here which the answer can be easily found in the manual/user guide.

is your friend's one a brand new sealed set? or a display set that being "molested" by the shopkeeper? is he running custom rom or stock rom?

I did get these pesky annoying ads after i flashed certain version of custom ROM, can't remember which one but not all custom ROM will have this problem. iirc, stock rom does not have this problem.

for me, the only way to get rid of it is to flash another ROM. Others may have a better solution.

just curious - your CallerID functioning? (still not giving up on getting CallerID with ICS ROM on my stubborb Note. )

haha... i believe the answer is simple - the Note is just much better!!

for the record, i also did not have those problems on MidNote ICS 2.0. It is actually running smooth and fast without any problem on my Note, except that somehow my Note just refuse to display CallerID for me.

maybe every Note is unique and thus has unique "personality and issue".
