There are few minor bugs in Rocket rom. I have finally decided to settle to midnote v2.0 ICS rom. The bugs if any are too minor and just negligible. I'd say it is a 99 .9 % rom , already very close to be as stable as my last GB LB1 rom
My latest update of Gapps.zip dated4 March has eliminate my caller id display problem
I have zero issues using it now daily as everything I need works perfectly. No comments on gaming as I do not play games
*
good morning, benny. I just tested the caller ID function - still cannot work - only number is display. sweat.gif

i flashed the gapps-ics-20120304-signed.zip. anything i miss out? thanks. smile.gif

Well I do not really know the answer. I noticed after I updated the gapps dated 4 March, immediately all my calls from my friends and children ( in UK n Spore now) can show their names and photos. So I assumed it is due to this gapps update. Try flash it again and remember must clear cache partition and at advanced clear dalvik cache

*
zzz... try clear cache partition and dalvik then flashed again the gapps. Something went wrong at the recovery, end up reflash all over again the Abyss 3.9 kernel, ICS ROM, gapps, etc. sweat.gif and after all these troubles, still can't solve it. doh.gif

anyway, thanks. I may redo everything all over again tonight when got time.

I installed LB1 as read from forums will help to remove SOD. I think it helps as after changing to it , I had never faced any SOD. Apparently LP1 is still in beta stage and not a official baseband radio yet. In terms of signal strength, frankly I see no difference with LP1 - tested on both Maxis and Digi lines
*
hi, benny, this LB1 for ICS Midnote? i can't seems to find it at XDA. sweat.gif I think my MidNote ICS setup SOD quite a lot on the second flash. First flash is ok though. Thinking of flashing third time. sweat.gif But will try LB1 if it eliminate SOD on ICS Midnote. wink.gif

thanks, i do know that thread but LB1 is listed under GB. So i need to confirm with uncle benny whether the LB1 he was talking about is this and can be flashed for ICS ROM or there is another LB1 for ICS.

uncle benny, you flashed the latest march 4 gapps separately after using the MidNote ICS with Gapps 7.1 for some time? I am still struggling to get the callerID to work - just flash the LB1 radio, no effect. blush.gif

becoz i flashed march 4 Gapps instead of 7.1 directly immediately after i flash MidNote ICS as stated at Midnote thread:

QUOTE(XDA MidNote Thread)
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (coming from other bases like Gingerbread or CWM flashable ICS roms) :
1. Avviare in recovery (reboot in recovery)
2. Flashare il kernel Abyss 3.9 (flash Abyss 3.9 kernel)
3. Fare reboot della recovery (advanced/reboot recovery)
4. Fare wipe data/factory reset (select wipe menu and wipe data/factory reset)
5. Flashare la rom e rimanere in recovery (flash MIDNOTE2.0 rom and stay in recovery)
6. Flashare le Gapps 7.1 e rimanere in recovery (flash Gapps 7.1 and stay in recovery)
7. Wipe menu e fare wipe cache e dalvik (select wipe menu and do a wipe cache/dalvik)
8. Reboot

So I am wondering should I flash Gapps 7.1 following the above steps. Then only flash Gapps March 4. hmm.gif Dun know got effect or not.

BTW, no other users on Midnote 2.0 ICS face the caller ID not displayed issue?

No need to flash the gapps 7.1 as is a very old version. Directly flash the gapps dated 4 Marc. Lastnight I tested with Team Rocket rom , caller ID also works with these Gapps flashed . I test it just to confirm my analysis that the gapps dated 4 march has solve this problem.
BTW ALL my contacts are sync with my G Mail contacts and All the tel nos starts with +countrycodeXXXX
*
hmm... all my contacts are sync with Gmail too and all the numbers starts with +countrycodeXXXX too....ggrrrr..... why why why.....

nevermind, will do another totally new flash tonight. flex.gif btw, can i just flash the LB1 radio immediately after flashing MidNote ICS rom+Gapps March 4 without reboot or boot into system first.

many thanks. biggrin.gif

Is the the common problem ?
*
it is the common problem until Gapps dated March 4 came out. Uncle benny said it eliminate the callerID problem but not on mine. Flash 2-3 times yesterday night alone and still can't get the callerID to work. doh.gif

btw, i suspect something wrong with the Midnote ICS recovery, i can't flash or wipe cache/dalvik with it, it will hang. Need to flash back to Abyss 3.9 redpill then only use the red colour recovery to do anything. sweat.gif

h11g, does criskelo v4 ics has the callerID problem? I think i have no luck in MidNote, gonna try others and see how. sad.gif

Hi Uncle Benny, already flashed with the latest GAPPS.zip file... but still same problem... everytime wanna join few contacts, then the phone will vibrate once, then freeze...
then it will vibrate few times again then pop out to main menu... =(
tried both Rocket ROM & MIDNOTE also the same... what happened?

Added on March 13, 2012, 1:36 pm
yeah, i sync with google contact...
but i want to link to my facebook account VIA social hub (for in-call photo)...
sync few contact, then the phone freeze then pop out to main menu... =(
*
guess i am not the only one with Contact problem though mine is another problem. Maybe these problems are phone specific - we got ourselves a "special" Note. laugh.gif doh.gif

I gave up on fixing the callerID issue, may Nandroid back to Rocket V21 GB tonight. I can't really tolerate a phone with no CallerID display. rolleyes.gif

ur problem is the (display name) not pop-up izzit?
mine is when join contact (facebook) + (google account) , error...
different case?
*
yes, my known contact name is not display when they call, only the number will be display, as if they are not in my contact list. It is actually a known bug on the leaked chinese rom.

yours is a bit different but still related to the phone contacts.

QUOTE(athlonmax @ Mar 13 2012, 01:49 PM)
im guessing it will be a different for gnote, samsung surely will integrate touchwiz ui together with the ics, because gnex ics is straight from goggle itself.
*
i think Nova Launcher is almost the same as vanilla GNex interface or it is actually the same. tongue.gif

Caller id display also perfect on criskelo b4 rom
My conclusion must be your phone contacts database issue

any idea how to fix it if it is the database issue? flex.gif

QUOTE(getajob @ Mar 13 2012, 02:08 PM)
yah... am using abyss v3.9 thou... flashed then reboot recovery to redpill... then i just wipe cache / reset factory... then flash midnote 2.0... then gapss.zip... finally wipe cache + dalvik cache... REBOOT... just like this...
*
yes, i done this trillion time but problem still persist. rclxub.gif

QUOTE(benny888 @ Mar 13 2012, 02:02 PM)
It is important to always clear all caches before reboot at every stage of flashing
And always use abyss kernel recovery to flash
Using lp1 recovery I find gives instabilty in flashing
*
yes, LP1 recovery is hopeless - will hang everytime if do wipe dalvik or flash zip. I just found out actually MidNote dev did actually caution that if you want to flash anything on MidNote ICS, MUST flash Abyss 3.9 first, then flash the zip you want, then flash again CF ICS kernel, then only reboot system.

mine is already running on the latest firmware...so the technician just reformat the phone and reinstalled the firmware..yeah i showed the technician on the freezing and laggy issue..then he recommended to reformat the phone and reinstall the software..after i got back my phone..it was alright..but the laggy and freezing issue came back at nite... sad.gif the technician did mention that if after reinstalling the software and the prob still persists then have to send back to samsung to check...i'm not sure whether i wana go to that extent or not..i did compare with my friend who has a Note...his also same prob...his lagginess is worse than mine..so would like to know if some of u had the same prob...if yes then most likely the Note is memang like that and not because its hardware or software has prob...

like i mentioned before...it often happens after clearing memory and exit from task manager..then the screen will freeze and show the wallpaper...a few seconds later only the apps icon will appear...even now sometimes the contacts or setting will appear after a sec or 2 after i click...especially after the phone is on standby/idle for some time..so not sure if this is a an issue with the Note or not..
*
wow.. sound serious. But i would suggest you to wait until official ICS update coz most probable it will solve your problem. Mine also have minor lag in 2.3.6 but super smooth with custom ICS leaked ROM.

finger cross - hope ICS for Note will come before march 31. biggrin.gif

1. You need separate power to power your drive.

2. You need to format the drive in FAT32.
*
i can't do that in GB rom, not yet try on ICS ROM though. I think there is a 32GB limitation for FAT32. If the hard disk partition is larger than 32GB, it would be detected.

Added on March 16, 2012, 11:34 amUncle Benny, when you said there's no 3rd party kernels available for ICS based roms.....what about trinity for Galaxy Nexus?...

or we're talking about Custom roms? enlighten me abit..thanks!
*
of course we are talking about custom ICS rom simply becoz there is no official stock ICS ROM for Note yet. doh.gif

and obviously trinity for Galaxy Nexus is not relevant to Note at all. If we can just simply flash kernel/rom from other android devices, there will only be 1 main forum in XDA rather than divided into so many sub-forum now. Every single android phone is unique. biggrin.gif
