Well if you manage to nail down the MP3 which is causing you the problem I don't mind helping you test it out. Come to think of it I never did try V0 MP3 on the HU anyway...

why is the old myvi always have the smell of fuel in the interior? is it because there's no filter ? how to keep the smell away?
*
You probably have old rubber hoses which have hardened and cracked over time, causing droplets of fuel to leak. You smell fuel when it gets evaporated and it goes into your aircond blower.

QUOTE(olman @ May 12 2012, 10:54 PM)
Thanks olman - thought there was new speculation on P2's upcoming models other than the ones in the articles.

All in all, I would prefer P2 to stay in the sub 1.5L range and continue manufacturing rebadged models from Japan. It's a smart move I would say - let the Japanese partners do the R&D, while we concentrate on localisation. The Japanese are so far ahead with their technology and with finances likely many times bigger than P2, they're likely to achieve much more than what we can do here. I'm not intending to put ourselves down but it's a cost-centric and a viable solution, like what GM and SEAT are doing.

Just what I'd like to see here from P2 would be new engines from Daihatsu/Toyota which are much more fuel efficient and leave less carbon footprint compared to what backdated engines we have now piling. The K3-VE and 3SZ-VE has long gone off manufacturing in its home country and the worst thing is that it's left to us as a dumping ground, void of any stringent vehicle emission standards and international level requirements.

Look at the 1NR-FE on 2011 Passo. It's a 1.3L lump, but it's making 101HP and 132Nm of torque. For a nice good comparison, the K3-VE is making 92HP and 123Nm. See how inefficient our engines are, and what's worst that the former is Euro4 and 5 compliant, and the latter only being Euro2.

Of course we could introduce Euro5 to our country, but a certain other local car manufacturer can't really catch up either, so yeah - back to Euro2 and outdated technology sad.gif

P2 needs to have atleast 1 sedan in its stable of vehicles, else could be killed off by the increasing competition from foreign makes and not to mentioned the handicapped match it has been put with P1 since P2's inception.

Well, P2 really should localise atleast a 1.5L jap sedan car eg: vios, because there will always be a slice of the market for sedans for those who wanted a sedan but are not comfortable with P1's questionable QC or can't afford foreign makes.

Of course Japs won't permit P2 to have the latest engines as it would have detrimental effect on them.

It is just me but i firmly believe that P2's sedan will grab a much bigger slice of the pie since most locals defines what makes a proper car is by having an ass. It could smack P1's butt cheeks so hard, P1 might start to take things more seriously.

Well olman,

Knowing that P2 only rebadges vehicles from their partner company (or for most of us who actually know, the PARENT company), there would likely only be a sedan from Daihatsu's lineup of vehicles. But there are few things that you may not have considered.

1. Sales of the Myvi here in Malaysia are actually trashing the sales of the Passo over there by a mile. Note that the 2011 Passo is now primarily catering to the ladies who need a decent city car, compared to the previous generation which had sporty iterations for the other gender to consider, such as the TRD Sports M, Racy, and Boon X4 from Daihatsu. Something tells you that they have fulfilled more sales here than they ever require in their home country, and they're not going to thin the sales by introducing a sedan.

2. It's not only our country which sells the Myvi. Our neighbouring countries have the Sirion, and the Justy (quite likely). Also, keep in mind that Toyota and Daihatsu are one of the biggest market players in SEA. And a huge chunk of this market is from the sub 1.5L range. See where I'm coming from?

A new engine(s) brought over here wouldn't be detrimental to the Japanese - the 1.3L and 1.5L engine capacities are basically in almost every car they sell in SEA, and they represent the majority of the market. There's the Rush, Avanza, Terios, Myvi, Xenia, and Sirion. IINM Daihatsu has a lineup of light pickup trucks as well which utilise the same powerplant. With the market so huge, the only thing that would hinder the change would be the problem of logistics.

So yes, a sedan car by P2 in Malaysia - I would say likely not. Perodua's not likely to introduce one that would compete with Toyota's Vios since they are on the same side, and even more not likely to compete with the Saga since P1 and P2 are on the same team as well, which is the Government's.

By the way, this is a healthy debate, by no means this is an angry rebuttal smile.gif

Is it just me or is the USB port a lil wonky i.e. takes a very long time to read the thumbdrive before playing any songs?
*
It depends how many folders you have, and how many of them have subfolders, which goes on and on. I keep my files to a single folder, maxed out a 4GB and it takes around 4-5 seconds to start up.

oh i see..thanks bro
just curios..how about the sound quality for MYVI 1.5 SE?
did myvi use 6 speaker too like normal sedan car??
*
The Myvi uses a 4 speaker arrangement - 4" at the front, and 6.5" at the back. I'd just rate it below satisfactory for the stock speakers. A front speaker swap should do a bit of change in terms of quality, but if you're looking for more punch in your bass you can try taking a look at active subwoofers under your seat.

anyway drove my friend 1.5 ride today , kinda nice to drive hehe, eventhough its still stock

except for the stock sound system.. and also personally feel not really user friendly for the steering button blush.gif

but somehow , have difficulty hitting 165 km/h.. hmm unsure.gif
*
165km/h - hmm. Haven't even driven my car over 140km/h, but I'm definitely enjoying 450km for every full tank pump smile.gif

Does anyone's rear door panel start vibrating when something loud and bassy is played? If anyone knows how to remove it for DIY that would be great.

I been collecting such info from Alza Club also.

Asking to share RPM at 100KM/H

And same result manual always higher than auto ... not sure why  shakehead.gif

Alza 1.5 auto 100KM/h RPM sharing from 2300~2600 (my unit was 2800, now 2500)
Alza 1.5 manual 100KM/h RPM sharing from 3000~3300
*
What I read from a review was that the Alza and Myvi 1.5 gear ratios are the same. Not too sure how true this is.

i thought P2 just slam the 3sz-ve into the 1.5 se. taken directly from alza. thats why it is the same. it just my opinion though.
*
Given that the Alza would be likely to carry a lot of load they would have used shorter ratios for better pickup but at the cost of high RPM at cruising speeds.

That's what I was surprised as well. A Myvi which is much lighter and able to carry five passengers should be able to afford a lower RPM cruise speed at its highest gear, thus able to likely save fuel. Then again driveshaft speed is not a reliable indicator of petrol consumption.
