Yea i have to agree with u on that those got the N9 will be piss off. The Nokia N9 dont cost 500 bucks. for the 64GB version is RM2088 end up being replaced by lumia.

Indeed iphone have alot apps but the responsiveness is unlike lumia and meego its slow.
*
Less than USD500 kah? So murah liao? Yeah, some of the ppl in Maemo forum pissed until they boycott all Lumia series, in protest to the decision not to sell in US & some Europe countries. Nvm, in future management & marketing class, this will be example of 'ways of pissing off customers", tongue.gif tongue.gif
Never I encounter before this type of marketing strategy, people want as many choice as possible for customers, they go limit, hahaha

At least for now until 2016, for whatever reason(I doubt they listen to customer complaints, they in world of their own), they will release the 808 to make us happy, brows.gif

Don't worry, Symbian phones still around for another year or 2. Oh ya, the Asha lines r not some cheap useless phones especially the new ones. They have touch screen, have Twitter, FB, Whatsapp & *GASP, they have SWIPE? Go check out Asha 202 vids. (Well, not the super ultra cool SWIPE we have on N9 lah of course)
*
Yeah I saw them in the shop but not it's not Symbian 3 lah, RAM also less, camera 3.2 MP only. Design ugly. Of course cheaper, less than RM500.
Never mind, Nokia Board of Directors want to follow Microsoft by the nose, remaining users just jump ship when the time comes. Microsoft wouldnt bother much, they still have their profitable software business, Nokia is the one to die

No need explain why 808 run on Symbian, it's camera which can make calls, sms, use internet, good enough liao. Use WP, must pay this royalty & that royalty, endure this & that restriction. The main thing is the camera. If they not convinced, ask them go buy a camera with similar function, then buy a phone that can online, see how much it cost...settle.

Nokia didn't release the Pureview 808 camera on Symbian to make existing users happy. The WP7 OS is just unable to handle this advanced camera.

All the more reasons to minus points from WP7 tongue.gif

so far i'm using N9,it is bit laggy compare to iphone4,s+,s2 and other, not lancar, espcially after connect to wifi.did you all face this problem
*
It only lags a bit when it's updating the notifications. More often you set it to every 30 min and have a lot of email addresses, FB, twitter updates. But after updating, back to silky smooth.
I can have sports livescore,FB touch, cute tube playing or video playing and this thread, all on live, no lag, except for that 30 sec or so when update emails

thanks all for the opinion, maybe too many account i activate in my phone, make it bit laggy especially after connect to wifi.btw, tqvm

One suggestion is to set the "automatic updates" to less frequent. Settings->Notifications->Feed on home screen->Automatic updates. I set mine to 3 hours, I can check manually if want more frequent. Emails is push notifications, that's enough for me.
You can also set how you want your Facebook Twitter notifications
Also check Feeds->Update Feeds. I set it to manually only, I think yours is Automatically in WLAN, that's why have lag when you use WIFI. More so if yours is "every 10 minutes" whistling.gif

The new firmware really improved battery life. I am impressed at 7pm  from morning the battery still 80% with 40minutes talk , 30 smses , connected to 3G network and wifi.
*
Wait, you seldom use except for the 40 min talk & 30 sms right? Mine only 30% left by 7 pm but websurfing is more, and on 3G

Because windows phone is supposed to replace Symbian in future. These nokia users who are used to having SD card, usb mass storage, bluetooth. Those who did not jump to iphone, due to the restrictions. Those who will most likely jump to android if Microsoft keeps with tbe restrictions.
That is why we want to highlight to Nokia/Elop, Microsoft. If not, nokia will become MicroNokia and all the remaining loyal users cabut. Iphone users wouldnt care, they just continue using iphone

Because it is similar to saying that the restrictions are acceptable and good and better than open OS. That is the implication. The effect - in future there will be more and more restricted type phones since they think customer no problem with it. That leaves us with less and less choice, if we dont like the restrictions and dont like Android.

I'm just an end user, not IT person, but I do marketing(nothing related to phones or pc or electronics). The result of iphone's marketing can be clearly seen. The trend in which Nokia & Microsoft market the Lumia series shows they did not put themselves in nokia's customers shoes. They just concerned with US market/Western market, want to follow iphone, but....without proper plan, just hit and miss.

Those still remaining with Nokia Symbian are those who still like Symbian and therefore unhappy with WP7. Those who were unhappy with Symbian left long ago, they dont care if Nokia goes with WP7 or to Timbaktu.
The other points already covered in previous pages.

It's called the slant of an article, it can go one side, middle or the other side, can be done subtly. I roughly have idea how to write each different slant(not boasting). After reading it 2 times, I would say it slants towards WP7 side. wink.gif

Hahaha, you all in the big cities will be surprised of the different usage pattern of the 'masses' in smaller states - based on actual study done.
Q : sir, why you dont use wifi/streamyx at home?
A: The kids whole day look at the computer, dont study, so I cut it off.
Q: so now you use broadband? You know, from maxis, celcom, digi
A : no, no, kids still wouldnt study. Now they want to use internet, go cyber cafe, only allow them 1 day 1 or 2 hours. Use their own allowance, cannot ask extra. At home, must study
Q : sir, how abt prepaid broadband ?
A : got prepaid one? I tot all is bill/ line one. Dunno lah, I not familiar with PC,buy the computer is for the kids to use
Q : i see. Do you use smartphone? Can online, chat, everything.
A : you mean like the apple brand one? I dont hv so expensive one. Mine almost RM1k when i bought(observed as mid range smartphone) I think can online but I use it to make calls, sms, take photo, ask my kids to copy songs.

note : standard middle class families with household income above RM2.5 k(by melaka rate)
if you all go ask general public/masses, will have fun with their cute answers, lol, lol

Yuppies in big cities are also different from smaller towns, assuming same age range.

I can just hope for the best, in my point of view, I believe the top management are not aware the importance. As I know, big companies, multi-level, they see charts, statistics, etc. provided by research, these research can be independent 3rd party company, etc. (this also applies for car, they hire 3rd party research agency and do research).
If it's true, it could be they just want to follow iPhone since it's famous and so on. If not, I don't see reason why the management wants to restrict this and that, put in limitations, etc. If they also use the phone, I'm pretty sure they would want to have more features available, and they would want their users to be satisfied and happy, not receiving complains. When got complains, then again, this is multi-level process which the message may not be correctly interpreted or pass through.
*
Nokia & Microsoft's way of handling this WP7 & releasing Lumia series seems to show otherwise, they did not seem to do any proper research. Like I said, gasak only tongue.gif

If not mistaken, last time Iphone also no bluetooth, now they also need have bluetooth. All the 'last time' thingy, yes, few years ago can. That phase is passed, Steve Jobs was smart to capitalize on it. Now the marketing strategy needs to be different.

If you read the cute Q&A i posted yesterday, those are real life examples. Sometimes very lol the answers but good lah, laugther good medicine biggrin.gif

The thing is, Nokia can have 2 OS if they want. Then everybody happy, thry can try get back some from western market while maintaining the existing customers.
If look at nokia support discussions, even those from europe, japan complain abt the zune, skydrive and increased data rates. 1st question ppl ask, 'if nokia pay for my monthly data usage than can consider all this skydrive'.
As for iphone, studies have shown iphone users very loyal to iphone. Latest from my nokia blog is iphone users 90% remain with iphone.

Elop when he said Symbian will be discontinued in 2016, is effectively saying dont use symbian. Now nokia usets need to face the question - why u using this dying OS? So uncool to use nokia, then purposely make it more uncool if using nokia symbian. Only thick skin ppl or 'old school' types will buy, like our beloved n9, DOA OS some more, haha
