yeah i read everywhere and it seems that its completely normal with the heat issue... wonder why they create such a phone with such heat rclxub.gif

i think if u use continuously for 1 hour it can even fry an egg sweat.gif

Added on February 28, 2012, 12:23 am
haha im personally using S2.. Nexus is for my girl and she keeps complaining about the heat doh.gif
*
using the phone naked, I don't get the heat unless I'm playing games for long hours, or doing equivalent demanding stuff. Generally browsing the web, or similar smaller stuff is ok.

Try flashing the phone to AOKP + a good kernel see if it helps.

Also this heat issue, I don't find it worse than the S2. Again like the battery performance, my brother too has complained about the heat on his S2. I told him its perfectly normal too. You have to know the CPUs will generate heat no matter what, especially on a thin device, you sure are going to feel it, because the heat have to dissipate somehow.

QUOTE(AlphaBeta @ Feb 28 2012, 12:59 AM)
How do u explain Iphone 4 not giving out heat at all? I understand your point, i also feel unconfortable with the heat given out by this phone.
*
iPhone 4 is running at 800mhz, a single core CPU. If you want, you can try UV + down clock the phone, see if it helps.

You sure? I tried both 4s and 4. Both sooo much cooler than GNex. I did viber call on all these 3 phones, Gnex gets really hot like in 5 minutes until i dont feel like talking to my gf.

I tried 700mhz, still very hot when doing 3G intense stuff. Its not the CPU..i think its the modem getting hot.

Then lets just hope that next Nexus will use glass instead of plastic.
*
probably, I guess.

but hopefully, they don't use glass, that would just give Apple fanboys another reason to claim Android as copycat, and glass is just prone to breakage and scratches.

However what I do hope is that they would use a material that would help dissipating the heat better, maybe from the internals that will help regulate the heat better.

I suspect that the next gen internals will help this a lot, especially the 28nm processors and big.LITTLE configurations.

phantomash , just want to know ur opinion . since u have gummystick mp3. the sound quality is similiar with nexus right?
*
not quite, I still prefer to listen on the gumstick, it just sounds nicer to me and that I prefer not to use phone's battery smile.gif
and to be honest, gumstick is one of the best sounding portable media player, especially considering its price its a great purchase for me.

it's a bug that I've encountered a few times too. The easiest way to solve this is to launch the camera app, otherwise would require a reboot.

It was in fact caused by camera app. Have you reported it?
*
its caused by random event for me, I can't find the root cause but I'd say its not the camera. I've encountered this about 3 times so far.

Nope didn't report it, I rarely report bugs. Have you?

Found a good mod! "bulletproof" home screen

those who dislike the micro lag when opening app drawer, this is the mod for you.
After reading that thread, main cause for this seems to be that the home screen is killed to make space for other apps in memory, so there will be times where the home screen requires redraw. What this mod does is make the home screen the top priority in the memory process, so it doesn't get killed easily or not at all.

can give it a try laugh.gif

Ok today my Gnex humiliated me infront of my friends, they(Evo3D and Xperia x10) could connect to my uni wifi with no problem at all but mine was struggling to connect due to the weak wifi signal. I am on franco 15.2...i guess is time for me to change kernel version.
*
damn...sweat.gif but actually I think that's a radio problem.

Hmm...solely radio problem? coz i remember franco is fixing all these wifi drivers problem in his kernel, so i thought wifi is kernel related and GSM is baseband related.
*
I'm not sure about that, just my guess

So, you mean the TUNA version is the correct one for Galaxy Nexus, right?

correction... samsung galaxy nexus is Tuna... gsm is maguro and cdma is toro... so it should be considered like this
GSM version = TUNA-MAGURO
CDMA version = TUNA-TORO

you can see the word TUNA on your bootloader
*
oh right, I mixed up Tuna with Toro tongue.gif

Hi everyone,
I had tested ad hoc connection btw GNex direct to my my laptop. no problem, as long as you're in Windows 7, which is build in with virtual router or host the connection via laptop wifi card. My GNex can detect my laptop and manage to connect successfully, IP address are correct. right now still in office which is behind proxy, I cant test the Internet connection, will try when back to home (I believe it should work too). I also tested my WiFi File Explorer, working perfectly. another way plus for me to transfer file via WiFi without router. that's great.

@TS
seem like this is common repeated ask questions, I suggest to pinned on 1st page to benefits others. I'm ok if you think it's not necessary.

1. WiFi-direct ? from V5, Post #1844

2. Wireless ad-hoc network? that's 2 ways, refer link here.
*
ok will do so. nod.gif
