MTR usually run from 6am - 12 midnight, some line run past it so just check before you decide to go out / come back late.
I know house of dancing water increase 100 for C Zone (From 480 to 580) - my partner say its not worth it so we skip. For ferry I took Cotaijet it cost about HKD320 return. |

Some picture of food during my HK trip - Non halal!!
Tai Heng (near australia milk) - The siu yok skin is very crunchy, others so so HKD78 for 3 combination. We had Tong fan with char siu and a simple egg sandwich later at Australia Milk - really nothing to shout about. We also tried the steam egg but didn't even finish it. I am not a milk person so please do try as they are really famous. Tip - do think what you want before entering especially peak hour else expect rude behavior from the waiter as they are really too famous. Few shop beside Australia Milk is the famous wan tan mee - Mak Man Kei. I tried this back in January and quite like it but decided to try other food this time around. This is a random shop at Hong Hum area - the porridge (Teng zai zuk) was good and is packed with student from Hong Kong Polytechnic University The ever famous 蘭芳園 - 脆脆猪 脆脆猪 - HKD12, depends on what you order you can get free drinks with main meals or tea time set. Usually for 2 its about HKD 70+ The original shop is in Central but i had visited the branch at Tsim Sha Tsui twice during my stay. Must try their 脆脆猪 which we cannot get enough of!!The nai cha and their Ham Leng Chat (7 up with their own preserved orange / lime) are also good - This is a must go shop for me. Jenny Bakery is in the next building so can go in and have a look. We Q for one hour!! This post has been edited by bearbear: Apr 17 2013, 04:25 PM |

Next up is the 大排檔 - One of my wish to try it in HK.
We tried our luck with 源記 at Miu Kai. ziu yim lau liu prawn - quite good and goes well with beer [HKD70] 耗饼 was just so so [HKD50] Note: There were baby cockroach crawling around, skip 大排檔 if you cannot stand the dirtiness And as usual after dinner we go for Dessert Coconut bird nest [HKD68] Next is the Lantau Island When you come down from the cable car, ignore all the food store that you will pass. Walk all the way straight until you see the big buddha on your right. Then walk in 10 o'clock direction to the canteen. They offer those vegetarian package in a hall which i heard sux - there is a open style canteen right ahead and you must try the 山水豆腐花 [HKD10] You can try the mango pudding as well - taste good [HKD15] They are also selling vegetarian fried mee hoon, curry, various local snacks. On the very same day we went up to The Peak - to try out 太平館餐廳
We took MRT all the way to Hong Kong Station and i earlier bought the tram ticket from Ding Ding. It was abit far to walk thus we hop on to the bus and only to realize the bus go all the way up to the peak!! Anyway it cost only HKD9.8 per trip and we decided to sell the tram ticket online. 太平館餐廳 - very nice ambient suitable for couple for a night out but there is a price to pay. Lobster soup - HKD108 The waiter were very attentive and helpful - we were sharing on a portion and when they serve the soup it was already been divided into 2 bowls. Canadian Pork Chop - not so sure about the name but it taste very good!! HKD200++ After coming down from the peak we go hunting for supper and this was recommended by a book. 强记@銅鑼灣 Have to say it was a good recommendation - the popular dish that was recommended was 生炒糯米饭 but the last bowl went to an uncle in front of us!! No choice but to try others. Pork bone porridge - very flavorful but nothing to shout about Fried Fan Cheong - The chili sauce on the right bottom is very good!! Fish ball and pig skin - Taste good can try if you like This post has been edited by bearbear: Apr 17 2013, 04:49 PM |

The next day we went to Mong Kok intending to try out the Michelin star dim sum 添好運 only to realize that the outlet in Mong Kok has closed down. As we will be going to HK island later that day we had something light.
Random street food yong tau foo - 5 items for HKD10 车仔面 - Near Yau Ma Tei MRT (Very nice) HKD7 - HKD10 per dish. Minimum 3 dishes And of course we managed to find the 添好運 in Hong Kong MRT station Total : HKD 100 The cha siu bao is very special - it was baked instead of steam and i like the BBQ sauce. Other than that really nothing special just normal dim sum and note that their choice is very limited. Later at night we went back to 銅鑼灣 to try our luck with 强记 as we really wanted to try the 生炒糯米饭. It was closed for that day We then on an ad-hoc basis flip thru our books and decided to try this si-chuan style restaurant which was highly recommended and i fully agree with the author. 麻辣 Noodle - as the name suggest it is 麻辣 but they've added garlic and peanut inside. very nice and highly recommended. Chicken soup with Mushroom - Very tasteful, can taste that they've boiled it for long hour. Total HKD70+ Again after dinner - desset!! 芝麻糊 @ 芝麻绿豆 Hong Hum seems like a popular place for dessert. With Tong Yuen HKD22 That's all for HK, can PM me for details of location if you are interested with any of the food This post has been edited by bearbear: Apr 17 2013, 04:35 PM |

QUOTE(Clareen @ Apr 17 2013, 05:40 PM) Hmmm just booked my hotel in central hong kong Fare tableMy hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Peak Tram Station and a 5 minute drive from Macau Ferry Terminal. Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center is a 10 minute drive away so worst case i take cab from Hong Kong also won't be that expensive right? First 2 kilometres (or any part thereof) HK$20.00 Every subsequent 200 metres (or any part thereof) and every period of 1 minute waiting time (or any part thereof) Not sure what are the rate for mid-night. If you are into cosmetic stuff (Sasa / colourmix / angel) - survey the prices in Macau before buying in HK. My gf found that Macau is slightly cheaper. QUOTE(Clareen @ Apr 17 2013, 05:59 PM) hmmm.. roughly how much you both spend in macau? any idea how much i should budget in macau excluded gamble la.. because i dont feel like going to casino also.. and in macau can spend hkd right but when change they will give macau dollars right i heard its not that worth so better spend all macau dollars before going back hong kong.. We spent quite alot as we did alot of shopping and bought alot of souvenir so it might be hard for you to estimate. Food are generally cheaper compared to HK as well.HKD:MOP - 1:1.029 If you spend a day there don't be bothered to change and yes if you use HKD they will return change in MOP. Just bring small notes (50 / 100) and keep as little as possible. |

The first must try in Macau?
猪扒包 - 勝利茶餐廳 [MOP18] I found this on a book and prefer this version compare to the ever famous 大利来. Meat was deep fried, not oily, tender and juicy! Not to mention 大利来 version is MOP30 each. A whopping MOP12 more than this shop. 椒盐鸭舌 - 老记 [MOP110] Gf tried this few years back and we went around for almost 90 minutes before locating it. A must try for me especially if you like 鸭舌 because even for me who never understand the wonder of 鸭舌 enjoyed it. Good news is that they have an outlet in Venetian. P/S: we saw quite a number of table ordering their wantan noodle - seems like a popular dish but we were too full to try. This post has been edited by bearbear: Apr 17 2013, 06:24 PM |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 17 2013, 06:25 PM) haha trust me its good - i nvr enjoy it but i love this dish. They deep fried it first before frying. Awesome dish to go with beer Another thing was the attitude of Cha chan teng in Macau - we only ordered the pork bun MOP18 for 2 to share they nvr make noise about that. In HK they always have this minimum spending per pax. This post has been edited by bearbear: Apr 17 2013, 06:31 PM |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Apr 17 2013, 06:33 PM) Depends, is it during peak lunch/dinner hours or not ? Doesn't matter - in HK they will display it so obvious while in Macau i've never come across any.If off-peak hours, you sit there long long chit chat also can after your meal/drinks, as long as it is not full. |
