i tot turbo will use more fuel >.<
*
Not necessarily true. At under 2k RPM you can already go 90-100 km/h without engaging the turbo. Turbo tend to get high FC because ppl who drive turbo like to tekan.

QUOTE(JC999 @ Mar 15 2012, 11:17 AM)
Im quoting the FC on the spec sheet above, 6.5l/100km @90km, isn't this display a bullshit and nonsense. There is no proper evaluation method on their FC and they just put 6.5l/100km @90km, there should be an urban cycle as well i think quoting 6.5l/100km is very misleading. and base on the spec sheet, the IAFM engine consumes even less fuel at 6.1km/100km.

I never heard of any current IAFM owners saying that their FC is good, and base on the spec sheet. the CFE consumes more... so what does it tell me, FC is worse than the IAFM?
*
Fair enough. I agree marketing figures are often misleading.

I misunderstood that you mean CFE must have higher FC than IAFM+.

Yeah its true, at least proton should put CPS instead iafm+ to executive version.. icon_idea.gif

IAFM+ was developed specifically to pair with the CVT.

If need to do the same for CPS = more money.

actually i'm comparing in term of price. 2nd hand 1.6 forte is not so old. just 2.5 years only with low mileage you can get at 60K+ nowadays.

and 1.6 forte do got esc, which only premium preeve have it.  im just trying to compare things thoroughly. correct if im wrong smile.gif
*
If wanna compare like that, then wait 2 years only compare a 2 year old P321a to a 2 year old Forte, OK?

Personally, if you are not going to get the premium variant with CFE, then better get a Persona H line instead. The car is almost as heavy as the exora, which had underpower issues with its CPS variant. I dont imagine the IAFM+ powerplant will do any better, especially with full load.

Just sayin'.

So .. from what I understand so far it is not about the fuel being dirty so much but the fuel resistant to 'knocking' during compression (ignite before it is supposed to).

So our Proton engine must comply with the country's fuel mixture..cos different country has different fuel mixture and sea level has to be taken into account too..Actually it is a little confusing if you want to talk about fuel octane..

It is simply about resistance to knocking..the higher the octane the more compression the fuel can withstand.
*
knock resistance is the RON grade, not EURO grade. EURO grade is how much pollutant is in the fuel.

I would think the first batch might have better quality, but it might also have design flaws which much more dangerous than quality issue.
Overtime, quality might be reduce but design flaws or common issue also resolve.

+1

Design flaw for example the CVT overheat issue in the early batches of FLX. Some may be harmless annoyances, some could be major inconveniences or even life threatening. Warranty or not, they have caused the owners grief and possibly bodily harm.

This is not limited to Proton, mind you, many carmaker have teething issues with early batches of new cars. It is not a QC issue.

I admire those who have faith in Proton and DSZ. But the truth is their track record is tainted, and that's a fact. If you say that their first batch will be flawless, I will believe it when I see it. I would gladly eat crow if I am proven wrong.

relax i just want him to eat a crow and not underestimating malaysian product

Bro, my FLX SE dashboard rattle since day one, CVT mounting noisy, drumbrake noisy since second week, replaced twice, engine jerk like mad in the morning. So dont tell me I underestimate Proton. As much as i like the 1.6 liter with CVT powertrain, it is new tech and all, proton products still leave much to be desired. My car is currently 2 months old, btw.

Good if the P321a proves to be leaps and bounds ahead of their current line of products, I will consider it seriously. But now, with the car that I am driving, you expect me to take a leap of faith and believe that proton has improve drastically overnight?

Like I said, ill believe it when i see it.

I was merely stating i dun believe the first batch will be completely problem free. I also said other carmakers have problems with their new cars. I never said proton alone have this problem.

Which part did i underestimate proton?

just test drive when it's available and you can decide later on. After all it's you that will pay for monthly installment.

I intend to. For the record, i have high hopes for this car, but not high enough to buy the first batch lor.
