I forgotten exact d, but there is a small hut in either shell or bhp at old Klang road... Before police station if coming from pj... Just fixed my air-cond there few months back... Can't tell u much cause I went there twice only, but 1 thing for sure, very cheap price... They charge me half the price of what a workshop in pj have quoted me... Maybe due to their low cost because they just rent a small place in the petrol station... Anyway, from the info of the owner, he's there more than 10 years d... So I guess is quite experienced?

Blowing slower for all speed? If yes, your blower has weaken. Change new 1, it is usually in the dashboard at front passenger side.

Hi all,

Pls be careful when visiting any of the car air cond specialist centre out there. Recently I had a problem with my car air cond, as it is not cold especially in the afternoon.

After sending it twice to the car air cond specialist, nearby Tmn Bahagia LRT station, I have decided to send it to Denso Service Center at Glenmarie for a second opinion.

The technician took a quick look, and recommended me to overhaul the whole air conditioning system. He gave me a quote and it was more than RM1500 to change the compressor body, magnetic clutch, receiver drier, fan belt, top up gas, plus labour charges to overhaul the complete system.

I was a bit suspicious as he didn't really check for leakage and etc.

So I took my car to another Denso authorized workshop at Taman Mayang Jaya Light Industrial Park. The supervisor recommended me to do a minor service so that they can determine the source of the leakage.

Initially, they removed the cooling coil underneath the glove compartment. They soaked the cooling coil into a container to see if there is any bubble coming out or not. Fortunately, there is no leakage with the cooling coil. Next, they removed the compressor, and soaked it into a container of water. After a while, I could see the bubble seeping out from the compressor which indicated that the compressor is leaking. Later they checked the magnetic clutch, and it seems the clutch is fine and do not have to be replaced.

Then, they asked me if I want to get a new Denso CoolGear compressor or not. They can send my old recond compressor for repair by replacing the O-ring within the compressor. After some deliberation, I have decided to get a new Denso compressor as the old one is recond stuff.

After installing the compressor, the foreman replaced the receiver drier as the existing one is dirty. They also checked the piping and joint (by washing it with soap) to ensure that there is no leakage.

Finally they top up the refrigerant, by sucking out any remaining refrigant before filling it up.

So, guys, pls be careful when repairing your car air cond system.

Go to the shop fattchai mentioned which is located behind AEON BIG kepong.

Cheap pricing and good workmanship. No need to buy your own parts if you are driving local car. He also offer good price for Honda city and avanza if I'm not mistaken. Imagine rm600 for labor +compressor +condensor+gas+system flushing . Does not worth your time to get your own parts.

Is Honda using denso aircon as well? I can't remember. their manual should have mention where to service.

Anyway, the kepong guy does do Honda city, so I guess he would know how to service Honda aircon. I will pm his contact to you. Try to call him and check.

Went there today to fix my non functioning kancil air-con. He was great!

At first he thought I would have to completely replace the compressor and what not. Then he realized it isn't necessary for now - he replaced the 'blower part(?)' and topped up gas. Cost much less and was a quicker fix. He said eventually the compressor will give out but for now my air-con is functioning and I am not sweating while I drive biggrin.gif

Very pleased. Despite my clearly blur face, he was honest. He could have gouged me and insisted on doing the more expensive compressor replacement and I wouldn't know the difference.

Then when I was about to drive off he noticed my front tire was low so he stopped me and filled it until it was properly inflated.

Happy to give him two thumbs up.

I went to an aircond shop at Old Klang Road yesterday. They only repair car aircond.

The oldman is honest and is willing to share his experience and how aircond function, repair needed. I replaced my cooling coil, evaporator valve and recharge the A/C system.

Best of all, he do offer magnetic clutch replacement on the compressor where most shops will ask you to change the whole compressor.

Go check him out at the address below:-

Refer for update below for correct address (edit)

I went to an aircond shop at Old Klang Road yesterday. They only repair car aircond.

The oldman is honest and is willing to share his experience and how aircond function, repair needed. I replaced my cooling coil, evaporator valve and recharge the A/C system.

Best of all, he do offer magnetic clutch replacement on the compressor where most shops will ask you to change the whole compressor.

Go check him out at the address below:-

Refer for update below for correct address (edit)

Replacing Myvi Cooling Coil requires to dismantle your dashboard.

The pricing you stated there might not be so favorable. hmm.gif

He seem know his stuff but expect to wait longer coz he do it alone with one novice young chap helping. Haha, remember bring powerbank, snacks, newspaper or book to kill time.

The boss is long term guy. He will recommend use original instead of china/taiwan made which is cheaper for longer lasting.

If your car come with Denso system, do pay a a visit to Denso SC in Glenmarie. Not the cheapest, but at least confirm new ori parts and with official warranty.

Many years ago I changed the clutch at one of the workshop outside, they didn't align it properly, causing the compressor shaft to worn out after some time, more damage done than good.

Korean cars like Jap cars don't require specialists. You won't have any luck looking for a "Korean car aircon specialist".

was Googling for air con repair and came across this post. I went to this shop that u recommended yesterday evening to get my 12 yrs-old Proton Iswara air-con fixed. It's a small workshop but quite a number of cars were there for repairs, so i guess it should be reliable. The boss is a quite a good fella and took the trouble to explain to me about the technical stuff of the faulty parts.

Thanks for the recommendation, my air-con was fixed today. Overall... I'm satisfied.

Glad that you have sorted your car.

He has no air about himself or the job unlike other shops I have encountered promising heaven n earth 😋

Some people like poshy looking shops, well to me if reasonably price & the job gets done satisfactory. He was recommended to me by a workshop many many years (more than 18years)

Yes I enjoyed listening his techinical knowledge stuff, it was an eye opener about air cond parts & why some air cond are/aren't as hardy in our weather, and some newer cars have so many "new" parts that car manufacturers wanting to stay ahead of OEM etc.

👍🏻👍🏻

Avoid HINLY AIRCON shop in PJ at all costs. They may be cheap, but their workmanship is shit.
I dropped my car off for a service of the air con and also to troubleshoot some problems with air conditioning. It's my first experience with the shop. Went there on recommendations of low yat forummers and friends. Made the mistake of leaving the car there.
On my return to pick up the car, after having paid the fee of rm430. Noticed two huge holes in the bumper!

Confronted the boss man. His answer is that the damage happened during removal of the bumper.

Now need to fork out more cash as the bumper is seriously ugly.

Avoid at all costs! HINLY Accessories & electric - PJ Old Town

Just service my aircond there today. Change cooling-coil + filling gas + labour total rm350.. Not sure the market price now but for me i think is quite rrasonable price..

for your guys info, the repairer is based beside Pusat Service Tayar Wai Seng where he appears to be without any RRR Machine (Recover / Recycle / Recharge) which means can only handle basic repairs..

would recommend Syarikat Aksesori Kereta Sungai Wang...they have two refrigerant leak detector devices to conduct checks on their completed repairs to ensure there is no leak in the system before handing over back the car to the owner...not sure other air-cond repair w'shops have this QA procedure apart from using soap bubble tests which is not as good as using a gas analyser..

some forummers have commented that this shop price is higher than others...mebbe due to their 1 year warranty given to replaced major parts, eg. coils & compressors..

QUOTE(LDP @ Jun 10 2014, 10:28 AM)

So this was my repair bill for my Wira car at Hoo air conditioner shop.
https://maps.google.com/maps?q=3.0784074%2C...6628&z=17&hl=en
This link is not accurate to go to the shop. It only directs me to the nearby condo. It's really easy to find the shop. I had to phone him up and it is very near to the big Toyota service centre.
Cooling coil (evaporator) RM 280
Receiver (dryer) RM 240
Total inclusive of labor is RM 520
That was a month ago. Then a week later the air conditioner gave trouble again. So back to the workshop and another RM280 for the blower. Still not as cold as it was originally. Mr. Hoo said will have to do some more repair. Something about the honeycomb shape item. What is wrong with my once perfectly cold air conditioner?

The honeycomb shape item is the cooling coil @ evaporator coil lor. Maybe you need to replace the expansion valve.

So how do you find Mr. Hoo's service?

I went there few years ago to replace my cooling coil and it's been working well. After a few years, the aircond is not so cold now. Thought I might want to look for his services again.

I quite like him. His young son (early 20's maybe) can speak English quite well. In fact he seemed to like to talk to me in English.
I found Mr. Hoo quite professional. He was busy that day with an Audi car and we didn't have chance to talk to him much.

Ok maybe I will go to the workshop in Glenmarie that someone recommended to see about the expansion valve and also ask him why the parts are still not working at optimal efficiency.
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/5026180/all (Post #51)

All this while (old Wira) the air cond has been very cold. Maybe showing the effects of wear and tear. The new spare parts not as good as the older ones.

His shop actually specialises in servicing aircond for Audi cars but he repairs aircond for all other cars.

I think for your wira, most likely you can't restore the aircond to the original state as the aircond compressor will have wear & tear. Thus, it can't compress the refrigerant as efficiently as it was new. Unless of course you replace the compressor.

Ya, hubby had at first sent the car to the mechanic who does car repairs and he said to change the compressor which would cost RM400. Will have to consult another air cond specialist for advice on the compressor.
Thanks @Thrust.
Never thought I would spend so much on just the air cond alone when the value of Wira would be less than cost of repairs. That's what one old taxi driver in Kota Bharu told me recently. He was using an old Wira to ferry passengers around the city. It was he who told me where to look for Proton spareparts in KB
The spare parts shop proprietor ( in his 70's) and his wife in KB were extremely helpful.

The fees was ok but after sending the car two times, still having problem with the airconditioner. The 2nd time was about 2 weeks after the initial repair. Then a 2 months later the air conditioner still gave problem. It was still leaking after spending RM700+. Then because of MCO I was not able to cross over to Petaling Jaya. I just went to the one in Jalan Kuchai Lama and had it fixed, or so it seems. Still the air cond was not as cold as it was originally. Both shops told me that I would need to change the compressor if I want it to be as cold as before.
Finally because my Wira was having problem with the distributor, the car repair shop nearby finally found that the 2nd air cond specialist didn't tightened the screw properly and now it is as good as new or as can be expected of such an old car.
