Looking at how things are run here, I wouldn't blame people for thinking masuk islam = masuk melayu.

There's once I went for a hotel check-in with a chinese muslim friend. After registering and stuff, he went to make a phone call. The staffs at the counter and around him asked me things like, "kawan you cina ke melayu? kenapa dia ada nama melayu". I was thinking like, dude, he has an arabic name la, not malay name But I didn't wanna correct them so I just told them that he's a convert. Their faces were like as if they saw a unicorn or something. Some have had this confused look too

I know a few Malay friends who don't practise Islamic ways like praying or fasting. They are just Muslim in name only, and deep inside they just wanna have fun like the other races.

Can't say I blame them, Islam does seem to have many restrictions lol.

too many... many of them only have fun after their life true or not? XD

well, sometimes me also feel bad, and want to try a life just like others, but when i'm think back about the reward for being sober,patient, and obey all God command's , so i feel so lucky being a muslim

My friend is a Muslim Chinese and his name Andrew Tan. He's still a proud Muslim and a proud Chinese. And celebrating Christmas and CNY with his parents - not a problemo for him.

CNY is nothing related to religion. Chinese New Year - the word "Chinese" NOT Buddha New Year. Celebrate by all Chinese people no matter you are Chinese Muslim, Chinese Hindu or Chinese Christian...

I'm a Chinese Muslim. I celebrate CNY and Raya also and also rest of Chinese festival that non religion related.
