http://www.rockynewsnow.info/ - Its a modified version from NewsNow and concentrate solely for arsenal.. It also filtered out most crap, unreliable stuff from the blogosphere .. And best feature which still chuckled me, renamed some team/ sites to funny names .. that one you will have read yourself, it wont be much of a problem to know the original team anyway if you are an Arsenal's supporter for a while.

or follow good quality arsenal blogs which often have good insight and fan-written articles:
Arseblog ( http://www.oleole.com/blogs/arseblog ) - good old drunken arseblogger who swears at anything that's not arsenal
A Cultured Left Foot ( http://aculturedleftfoot.wordpress.com/ )- decent writeup and opinions
Gunnerblog ( http://gunnerblog.com/ ) - same as above

The Emotional Highbury and The Grand Ashburton Grove

Highbury 1913-2006

For the majority of their time in south-east London, Arsenal played at the Manor Ground in Plumstead, a three-year period at the nearby Invicta Ground between 1890 and 1893 excepted. The Manor Ground was initially just a field, but the club installed stands and terracing in time for their first Football League match in September 1893. They played their home games there for the next twenty years (with two exceptions in 189495), until the move to north London in 1913.

Arsenal Stadium, widely referred to as Highbury, was Arsenal's home from September 1913 until May 2006. The original stadium was designed by the renowned football architect Archibald Leitch, and had a design common to many football grounds in the UK at the time, with a single covered stand and three open-air banks of terracing. In the 1930s, the entire stadium was given a massive overhaul, with new Art Deco West and East stands constructed, opening in 1932 and 1936 respectively; in addition, the North Bank terrace had a roof added, which was later bombed during World War II and not restored until 1956.

At its peak, Highbury could hold over 60,000 spectators, and had a capacity of 57,000 until the early 1990s. The Taylor Report and Premier League regulations forced Arsenal to convert Highbury into an all-seater in time for the 199394 season, reducing the capacity to 38,419 seated spectators. This capacity had to be reduced further during Champions League matches to accommodate additional advertising hoardings, so much so that for two seasons (199899 and 199900) Arsenal played Champions League home matches at Wembley, which could house more than 70,000 spectators.

Final moments - the emotions run high in Highbury

Ashburton Grove 2007-present

Expansion of Highbury was restricted because the East Stand had been designated as a Grade II listed building and the other three stands were close to residential properties. These limitations have prevented the club from maximising the revenue that their domestic form could have brought in recent seasons. After considering various options, in 2000 Arsenal proposed building a new 60,000-seater stadium at Ashburton Grove, since renamed the Emirates Stadium, about 500 metres south-west of Highbury. The project was initially delayed by red tape and rising costs, but construction was completed in July 2006, in time for the start of the 200607 season. The stadium is named after its sponsors, the airline company Emirates, with whom the club signed the largest sponsorship deal in English football history, worth approximately 100 million; however some fans refer to the ground as Ashburton Grove, or the Grove, as they do not agree with corporate sponsorship of stadium names. The stadium will be officially known as Emirates Stadium until at least 2012, and the airline will be the club's shirt sponsor until the end of the 201314 season.

Strong line up, can see us winning. Sunderland players surely are tired, playing till extra time in the FA cup. Up The Arsenal!

Evra just reminded me what a knob he is there after the final whistle.

Anyway back on topic,

Lineup looks strong and a fit Bac I guess is still way ahead of le Coq. So we can say that on paper this lineup looks stronger than the one against Blackburn.

3 points please tqverymuch

theo and ox are closed down pretty fast. only rosiscky is able to provide some acute passes. Song's a little out of his usual pace today.

Yup...two players always closed down our Ox and Theo....no space to breathe for them.
Quite hardcore defending from Sunderland, especially after Arsenal trash Blackburn last week.

Henry just using his experienced after scoring >200 goals. It's his instinct. But this game was very nervy. The bad pitch, i almost think it's intentional. Forcing Arsenal to play long ball.

CLASS IS PERMANENT LAZINESS IS TEMPORARY.

Please prove me and everyone wrong, Arshavin.

Touch of class from the Russian with that lovely cross. When he came on he looked fitter, fresher as compared to earlier season. Maybe the long hiatus from playing has done him good. I still believe he could be a very useful player for us over the course of this season.

I don't think we can criticize Sunderland for it though. Yes it does leave a sour taste in the mouth but sportsmanship isn't part of the rule book. It wasn't a head injury so the game should go on. Its just pure bad luck on our side.

but from arshavin's point of view, its either he not play or play him out of position on the wide in case he gets the chance. we all know what arshavin can do as an attacking midfielder. if arshavin plays, arteta and song is a must in the team to provide the defensive cover.

Wonder how Per is doing. I suspect the injury resulted from the phucking pitch.

He won the FA Cup tie against Leeds for us, and now he helped us get the 4th place. I'm close to tears right now. If this extra 2 points counts towards procuring the 4th spot at the end of the season, I'll be crying for sure.

somehow i want to Newcastle win. No disrespect to them, but I believe New will never break into top 4. if we can oust Spurs, 2 spots are available for CL.

Ramsey is like Shinigami in DeathNote....haha...Arsene Wenger need to write someones name on the 'note' in exchange for a goal...

Anyway, yesterday's match for Arsenal can be simply concluded as easy as 1,2,3,4.

1 assist from Arshavin,
2 goals by Ramsey and Henry,
3 of them all is substitutes,
we are no.4 in Premier League even though we lost the most in top 7...

hehe...

didn't realize sanli tuncay was at bolton...ingat middlesbrough

anyway it was a decent game last night,
the hated Arshavin and Ramsey ph34r.gif played the biggest part to win the game
if ever Arshavin needed a lift to somewhat regained his true form, that assist was perhaps just about right

Henry, well he is he the King after all
pity per, godpseed recovery.. other night has a case but totally don't get the hatred on him last night
Ramsey curse is, rip whitney

Vermaelen not enjoying role
Arsenal defender 'fed up' with playing at left-back
QUOTE
Thomas Vermaelen has expressed his frustration with playing at left-back as he does not feel he can perform to the best of his ability.

Vermaelen has been Arsenal's most impressive central defender over the past couple of years but he has been asked to operate in a wider role due to a spate of recent injuries to full-backs.

Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker have been favoured in the heart of the back four and Vermaelen admits that is where he would prefer to be playing.

"I am fed up playing at left-back," the 26-year-old Belgian is quoted as saying by The People.

"I don't think I am good there - I want to achieve my highest level and I can't do that on the left.

Not happy
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"I play there to help the team but it gives me no satisfaction as I can't reach my best standard.

"I do my job but seldom feel content after matches. If the team wins I am happy, but it remains frustrating."

Vermaelen has also spoken of his disappointment at losing the Belgium captaincy to Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany.

"I'm not happy about it," said Vermaelen, who moved to Arsenal from Ajax in 2009.

"I was proud to wear the armband."

This IMO is pretty stupid from Vermaelen. Everyone knows and he of all people should know its so damn obvious he is only there due to injuries to ALL our left backs and now with Mertesacker out as well he is guaranteed to get back his CB spot at least for the foreseeable future. Even if Mertesacker isn't injured and we have our left backs I'd still fancy Arsene to drop either Mertesacker or Koscielny in favor for Vermaelen.

This was unnecessary and pretty unprofessional. If he is afraid he might be deployed as an LB permanently he should be having a word in private with the Boss instead.

I don't usually believe what the media said about Arsenal players.
Especially UK media.

Remember a few months ago Cesc got some compensation from a UK media (can't remember the name) because of inaccurate article?

So for me, this is just another game played by the media.

lulz its on the news now

aaron ramsey in goal link to whitney death

FOOTBALL star Aaron Ramsey was being bizarrely linked to Whitney Houston's death by fans last night after a series of odd coincidences.
Every time the Arsenal midfielder scores, a famous figure dies. Whitney was the fourth in under a year.

Her body was found hours after Ramsey, 21, netted during the Premier League game against Sunderland on Saturday.

The coincidences began last May when Ramsey scored against Man United.

Next day al-Qaeda terror leader Osama Bin Laden was killed.

In October he scored against Spurs, three days before Apple boss Steve Jobs died. Later that month he scored against Marseille in the Champions League.

Next day Libyan tyrant Colonel Gaddafi was shot.

One fan wrote on a forum: "I'm worried things will get out of control when he scores more."

lulz its on the news now

aaron ramsey in goal link to whitney death

Thank God only Ramsey has this power....

Imagine what would happened if Suarez has this ability? Evra and Ferdinand would be in deep deep trouble as he scored that day against Man Utd.

the REAL thing that TV said:

http://news.arseblog.com/2012/02/vermaelen...kewed-by-media/

You have been injured for a while last season and also this season. Are you back at your old level?

I feel great and play like that. But because our left backs (Santos and Gibbs) are out injured I had to play as left back in the last weeks. I think that is unfortunate but there is nothing that I can change about that.

Did you talk about it with Wenger?

Yes, but what is said between us stays between us. Everybody knows playing left back is not my preferred position.

Why do you think that despite all this you after all are a good left back?

I don’t think I am a bad left back. I do my job over there. But I am never really completely satisfied with myself after playing there. I want to get to my highest level in each game and I don’t have this as a left back. When the team wins I’m happy, but still it is a bit frustrating.

Why are you so much better as a central defender than as a left back?

Tell me why does a striker performs better in attack than in midfield? I’m just trained as a central defender.

OMG. Ivory Coast got all the super stars playing for their country and yet they produce nothing in the ACN. Gervinho miss his penalty. Does anyone know if he is injured and will he be playing for Arsenal anytime soon?

No reason to be down I guess. He was the one who brought them to the Finals anyway sweat.gif . Btw if you guys realize Japan is really following football at the moment. Just look at Ryo's Bolton match highlights on Youtube. 113k views man. Thats massive considering its only highlights brows.gif . His step-overs are very pleasing to the eyes and his crosses are top class.

peeps, some facts of the day:-

1) Wolverhampton manager Mick McCarthy was sacked due to a series of poor result. most recently a 5-1 defeat to W.B.A.

2) Despite its only February now, Cristiano Ronaldo had scored 27 league goals for his club. Messi comes second at 23, Van Persie at third scoring 22, 4th goes to SC Heerenveen's Bas Dost from Eredivisie (whose club had a great improvement currently at 3rd place of the league compared to 12th in previous season), while Rooney, Di Natale, Luuk de Jong and Guidetti shared the tally of 17 goals each joint at 5th place.

3) Suarez apologize for not shaking Evra's hand.

4) Yesterday(12 February)'s spain games collected a total of 34 yellow cards out of 6 games. There were 3 cards which 2 of which resulted from 2nd yellow card. That is an average of 5.6 yellow cards each game.

5) Henry shared the same goals tally as current not-in-form torres despite playing only 4 matches which compares to 20 by the latter.

This all overhyped by the media, before and after the match. Evra even seems didnt care that much that Suarez didnt shook his hnads, might even fired him up summoar..

Arshavin's pass thru 2 defenders to Henry was exquisite..hopefully Henry will score again vs Milan..

haha back then we have badass like Vieira, Keown, Parlor etc dats why not many want to mess with them, unlike nowadays & past couple of season..our
MF were too "kind" hence they'll always kick around by teams like Stoke,Birmingham etc

we are 2-0 at san siro. Inter 1-5 in 2003 & AC Milan 2-0 in 2008

i lost any hope in seeing any meaningful contribution from Jack this season. expecting to see him get full rest during the summer (i.e. not going to Euro 2012) and be ready to go for next season

any contribution from him this season i'll consider it as a bonus

Prince Boateng has changed. Last time watch him play at EPL and Bundesliga, he doesn't have this swagger. Never thought AC Milan will pick him after not so successful spell with Portsmouth.

A lot of people thought we beat AC Milan before and the result shall be repeated tonight. They are at the top of Serie A table with reasons.

Not just Vermy, our midfield is off colour also.
