I played quite alot of the alpha but cannot post infos cause under NDA sad.gif

They mentioned very clearly that there's no NDA this time for video and screenshots

Added on October 28, 2012, 7:17 pmLoved the game but very disappointed with the closed beta. Could barely play normally with the 300-500 ping. Top that with the awful graphics optimization on the first day

Game looks fantastic and i really do like the overall feel of the game. But the latency is killing the fun for me. The twitch nature of the game makes every ping counts. And in those urban maps, the rubber band lag + the collision detection makes maneuvering a real pain. At times i feel like im fighting against my mech when traversing through the structures. The only way I'll be playing this game at launch is if they provide oceanic servers at the very least.

The game feels underwhelming to be honest, even though i love the gameplay with it's nice blend between mech games and modern shooters.

The business model is the problem where it is just too damn grindy. Pretty much every match gives you only around 50 Hawken points, while buying even an upgrade like an offensive turret cost like 1500 Hawken Points which will take hours and hours to buy even one upgrade.

Another pay to win nonsense.

I'm pretty damn sure that they have yet to actually activate the Hawken points thing since I've played a couple of games and I've yet to earn anything.

Also, at the end of a game, the results screen will state how much you earned during the game and my earned points is usually 1.5k and above so...

Jumping to conclusions much?

1.5k is your experience for the mech you are using. There are 3 types of "points" in the game: Hawken Points, Meteor Points and your own mech's Experience. Mechs can be grinded, but it is just gonna take quite some time.

How about try to play more?

Don't see a problem with the free to play model. It's not going to be mainstream but there is a niche market for it. Just look at World of Tanks. It's grindy but it still able to pull players and they have a healthy little community that supports it.

Hawken is already looking quite impressive, they just need to iron out certain issues like oceanic servers. The xp issue can be done much later as they get more and better feedback from players.

As far as I know, no ACTUAL story mode gameplay whatsoever apart from the separate live action tie-in.

Released on 12-12-12 internationally. Hopefully anyway

A good year for mech stuff indeed.

Gave it a go few days ago, everything seems to be good except some glitches in the maps like frequently stuck on some small floor objects. Got kaboombed so many times due to those glitches. On the desert map, everything is smooth except the graphics side. Sure is graphics power intense, i need to tone it down to mid-low or low in order to play it without choke.

Running X6 1055t @ 3.5ghz
more than enough rams
GTX460 OCed 800/2000+

For those who have something lower than these, be ready. lol

Other than metro2033, this is one of the games i have issue with graphics even at medium. Might be optimization or something else and worst is i can only fill up so little details in the in-game bug report. The forum is a mess, lol.

Yes, that map stuck glitch and also... I feel that it needs abit more speed. the maximum altitude and fuel restriction are too tight..

yes, and currently, the game is buggy and laggy as hell having a diarrhea with 700ms ping @ low graphics setting on my current PC.
Everything else is ok so far. Not sure about any recent updates on beta etc etc, but still in beta AFAIK.
Might wanna wait till the beta ends and actual release comes only then i restart the mecha.

To those who are having lag, i'm on unifi and South Asia servers give me 40ms ping, North Asia servers 110ms. Totally playable. Lagless game, love it. Even with my cousin's streamyx 1MB line in kuantan, my ping was 70ms

This game is free to play. The MC is just for you not to grind, or skip grinding. So it's rather, pay to not grind. However, pilot skill is much more valuable than mech level. I'm able to pawn you with a level 1 mech.

Besides, they've ironed out most of the bugs. It definitely has more players these days. So give it a try!
