I'm also thinking of sending my G53 for warranty ... Just bought about 1 month and HDD is already failing since the first week of usage. Keeps locking up for no reason... With all the bad feedback here I may just forgo the warranty and replace a new HDD myself...

i believe i have finally managed to fix my HDD solid light random crashing... took apart the whole damn thing last nite (its not as difficult as it looks), reseated everything, noticed the back panel (preinstalled) RAM slot 1 side broken... so i took it out and swapped it to another slot.

at the same time reseated HDD, and swap the secondary HDD to be primary and installed another windows on that HDD.

so far no crashes... left it on, gamed with it, browsed with it... fingers x'ed :S
