Hi guys. My husband and I are also looking at retiring in Melaka....well, not for another 15 - 20 years We are currently working abroad and only return to Malaysia once a year for a short visit. We are thinking about getting the resort home like A Famosa villa so that we could lease back to Management in order to ensure the place will not be left vacant without any care for years. I didn't see very good review on the A Famosa resort on tripsadvisor though and it seems there are quite a few people trying to sell the place as well. Is there any similar place that you guys could suggest. Where in Melaka is considered a good neighbourhood.....where we could buy a house and perhaps turn it into a holiday rental place? Thanks.

What is considered a prime area in Melaka? I feel those houses near Cheng is kind of far from town, main shopping area.

Prime area ofcoz is Malaka Raya.
For me, I dun think Cheng to town is far, it’s only about 8-10km, no jamm maybe 15min can reach.
in fact, from Cheng to Ayer Keroh highway is much more convenient than from town.

*trust me, staying at town like kota laksama doesnt bring anything good

I saw about the end of brochure price, I thought that’s just the lowest & highest cap the are allowed to price when apply permit?

i stayed there 28 year and genting still not taking any action to develop the area...

Ironically, Mlk don’t have a proper infrastructure to support the rapid growing tourist.
The public transport is still lousy….what happen to the monorail? Is it dead?
Our taxi system is still like those in 1980’s, bus slightly improved but locally still look bad….
The roads in a lot area still narrow….looked like they never learned and never plan for future
Biggest bowling centre? Auto city? Pulau Melaka? Coming Arab City? Hatten City? I don’t think these will help in boosting the state economically….
Come on, we need an more local line airport with certain international line, and possible a train 9bullet train??) that link all the way from Thai to Singapore
I heard the Melaka govt is heavily in debts and that’s why they made the land costly to earn more cukai tanah….hope they manage to get more fund supply by Federal govt.

My in-law had a unit which abandon 15 years ago, now Melaka State Gov offer with 20% increase price, he decide to drop it, think of take it up, need opinion from all the taikor? is a shop-lot at 3rd floor about 650sf in center of Pulau Melaka.

In that case dont surrender back to them, quickly get some agents to sell it outside.

but if don't take up, half payment gone, might bet  on it. take it as holiday home

I have a flat near to Malim Business Park, Behind Plaza Pandan Malim.
It's at 4th floor, 3 bedrooms and 2 toilets. When I bought that time (Yr 2001) is 35k, now dunno how much it is worth. I'm renting 250 to a small family but he never pay on time. He did hint me he wish to buy. He told me that other owners are selling 35k too.
I still have balance of 11k to complete the installment.

I dunno if property agent will charge me if I ask him to evaluate the property value.

Also, wish to know whether it is a good decision to sell since that area is quite busy.

Anyone know any new landed properties around RM 250k or below in Melaka? I don want property around Cheng / Krubong / Paya Rumput..
