Hi guys, currently driving a Honda City 2007 Vtec Model.

I bought this car several years back as I got it at a good price and my parents thought it was a practical car. Since it was sorta my first car, I thought, why not.

The car has been paid in full.

Anyway, I have this burning urge to buy another car primarily for 2 reasons:

1. to look good driving it
2. to have a spirited driving (i drive long distances occasionally on highways and i like the feel of enjoying the car and some of its power) or sometimes at night alone.

For the narrowing of my scope and to get something within means, I have set my budget to be at a ceiling of 100k. My car would be around 50k 2nd hand value to car sellers and I don't mind paying cash of 10-20k depending on the price.

Which car would you guys recommend?

I actually want an upgrade on my current model and I've browsed through mudah and did a few readings and have only seen forte 2.0 and peugeot 6 SPEED 308 turbo (both around 85k) which is good.

Any other good cars which you guys would recommend?

Not too old models in which cases of faults are high and maintenance are high. I was soooooooooooooo focused on either a CLK or a BMW CI (old models) both below 100k also can get but I was afraid of technical errors that might arise.

what would you guys recommend based on driving experience and upgrade?

I'm quite big sized (at 180cm tall) so driving space would be important. I was thinking of CRUZE but even for a car that size, I was told that it was underpowered and when I sat in the drivers seat, I felt so cramped compared to the Civic.

I don't think that Forte, 308 and Cruze are good handling cars...if your budget is within 80+k....the best handling new car might just be the Ford Fiesta...it might not be the fastest car in the world...but compared to the above choices and others like new city, vios....it is the best handler

DC5R isn't within my budget range and the fiesta is small and not really considered a great upgrade from a honda city.

even the RX8 was within my consideration but I am really afraid if something happens to the engine.

this will comply with ur 2 reasons :-
1. to look good driving it = it's beemer
2. to have a spirited driving (i drive long distances occasionally on highways and i like the feel of enjoying the car and some of its power) or sometimes at night alone = it's 2.5cc

why ceiling 100k ? minus 50k trade-in , add 20k cash , loan only 30k ? should be more than that ?

TS remember, slow car is never a good handling car.

If you can accept slow but good handling. Local p1 car it is.

Otherwise, take 308thp

You sound like my friend a couple years back. He was driving a City but in the end he sold it off and got a 200sx for around 40~k and he dumped an additional 40~k on performance parts. Now he's drifting nicely around the neighbourhood while looking gangsta at the same time laugh.gif

Looks more or less like this. Same color, but hellaflushe'd tongue.gif laugh.gif

a beemer is purchasable but its old and not too fond of the maintenance costs.

I don't need a 2.5cc. even a 2.0 is enough. 100k is a budget because I am planning to buy property. so a budge tis to make sure i don't over gear.

good handling = p1 car? PROTON???????????????????

turbocharged, what have u heard personally from owners of 308thp

fiesta out of the question guys. it's too small for me sad.gif
after this car, my next car would be like the 2 door bmw e90 or e92 can't remember

i'll be buying my next car around 5 years from my new car if i get it by this year. so i'm choosing delicately.

bergetar.

but seriously, don't mock proton. proton are known for their "Handling by Lotus". please don't play-play. their handling are tip top! just look at satria NEO, powerful FLX and that out-of-control-bang-car-on-opposite-lane persona/gen2. fuuuu. awesome stuff.

I am really afraid of old cars because of high fault rates. Even my friend who is a race car person and family all into racing also advise against old BMWs.

I don't really need 3.0 cars. Not really fuel efficient for work purpose as I go through a lot of jams and traffic lights. This car should be good for work or play.

I am not mocking proton. I know about their lotus handling etc. Might as well take an inspira if that's the case, right? but isn't that sort of a downgrade in brand but upgrade in car size ONLY?

Spirited driving does not mean speed but having the right driver's feel like having a car that is meant for you to enjoy driving (as what a HONDA CIVIC'S driver seat would look like. unfortunately the drive is satisfactory)

like the feel when you get behind the wheel, the handling is solid, the car is heavy and has a responsive gearbox, yet you feel safe, with all the dials and meter clusturs telling you, "This is DRIVING". hahahahah

The spirited drive u mean in my dictionary is more torque...so i would suggest u to go for turbo or supercharged car,If u buy rx8 sure u regret coz the torque its so low u have to rev the engine hard which makes high fc...a small cc engine with turbo is fun to drive, when the boost is not in,its just like a normal NA engine and the fc will be lower than a normal NA engine too coz of compressed intake air so u get some bonus torque.
Its like 1.3 hybrid Insight,it has near 200nm torque which is on par with 2.0cc engine, when u test drive it,u can "feel" the pull all thx to high torque
Same goes to diesel engine,if u dont mind
