Enrique is one of the best left backs the club has got in a long time since the departure of John Arne Riise.

Granted he may have some lapse in concentration in the last few games but he is easily one of Kenny's best signings alongside Bellamy. Don't think he deserves to be dropped. He should be first choice with Robinson as a back.

I believe Johnson plays better on the left but I still want to see him given a go at RW with Martin Kelly behind him. We can then have Flanagan as Kelly's deputy.

Wasn't an exactly dribble, dribble like Messi but he basically ran through space. I think Bothroyd actually said he has Premiership quality, so that can only be a good thing.

Well done, Toni.

Anyways, Nacional de montevideo fans tonight.

0:39 onwards, Ajax fans sing Suarez against the Mancs.

And, the lovely Mr and Mrs Suarez.

Luis Suarez : I want to say thanks for the great support that the Liverpool's fans have given me in these last days. I would like to say thanks again to fans of Ajax for what did today. As you know I am Uruguayan, and I defend the selection team, so I want to say thanks too the fans, players and managers of NACIONAL for their great support today! A million THANKS for everybody!

Those Ajax fans certainly have balls of steel. They were chanting Suarez right in front of the Mancs in England!
http://www.decano.com/decanocms/destacadas...uerza-luis.html
The english media won't pick this up.

But read here very carefully. When supporters of other teams playing Nacional are also expected to join in singing "ole, ole, ole, ole, ole Suarez, Suarez" just to make a point...

Then you know how much love this guy has even in his home country.
*
England? You mean the video? Manchester United played at Amsterdam yesterday? Or you're speaking of a different one?

QUOTE(aiyish @ Feb 17 2012, 03:13 PM)
I would really love to see a friendly between Uruguay & France biggrin.gif
*
There is but it's in August.

Anyone find it weird Evra didn't travel to Netherlands? So called left at home because of "emotional state" but I'm sure he's just scared to face the Ajax fans, lol. Can't be protected in Holland as he is in England.

Ohhhhh Myyyyyyy....

Does it now mean that the whole of Uruguay and Ajax as an institution is racist as well?!

I mean if LFC was labeled a racist club and all, LOL

/sarcasm
*
Yeah, lol.

Actually, it's not Liverpool that is racist sleep.gif

First you got Piara Power, who works for the Football Against Racism who condemned Suarez, Kenny and Liverpool whenever he gets the chance but then calls an Asian Liverpool fan a "coconut" for asking him why he never twits about the Manchester United fan who was caught for racist remarks,

Then you have that boss in the FA, who is working there despite sending out a racist email. Peter Brown is still working for the FA.

Then you have Alex Ferguson who condemned the whole Uruguay back in 1986 saying everything wrong with that whole nation. Also, don't forget his "typical Germans" comment!!

And how many of the Manchester United fans who are "against racism" actually are against racism? Maybe they should start doing volunteery work and donating to the racism funds but no, they all just want to demonise Suarez.

im abit worry that PSG are sniffing for suarez but yet suarez did not come out and say he is committed  to liverpool..i hope the club is holding him back from making any headlines
*
If Suarez is going to be sold, it would either be him wanting to leave or owners wanting to get rid of him.

He has stated at least twice that he wants to stay at Liverpool for many years. His celebrations against Man United also speaks volume.

But then again, many players have said similar things.

I've said I'm not surprised if he leaves but I expect him to stay here for a few more years at least.

No player is irreplaceable, including Fernando Torres. Better players have come and go.

Ian Rush left, only to return. We moved on. Michael Owen left and went downhill, we moved on. Fernando Torres left and is going downhill. Move on.

And more importantly, if we didn't let one of our legendary number 7 in Kevin Keegan go, we wouldn't have that man who is #1 in Players Who Shook the Kop - Kenny Dalglish.

QUOTE(rickk @ Feb 19 2012, 01:40 PM)
IMO, agree, when bigger club come knocking you with interesting offer, I guess most of them will just leave their current club. See Fabregas, C.Ronaldo, Torres and even our Mr.35m, Carroll (35mil right?). So what I hope is, Suarez can show some "colorful result" in LFC before those bigger club come to offer him. =)

IMO again, Torres and Suarez/Carroll playign style are totally different, so cannot say replace or not, instead, we changing style, changing to better style, way to victory! YNWA.  notworthy.gif
*
It's not exactly the same for every player.

Fabregas is a Barcelona fan. He came from Barcelona so he just dreams of playing for them. And as Arsenal hasn't exactly won anything in the last 6 years, he felt it was right to move on. No problems there. Everyone knew he would leave for Barca at one point.

C. Ronaldo. Mother wanted to see him play for Real Madrid and to be totally honest, he's won every cup in England. He brought in 80 million for United!

Torres, left because Liverpool were going downhill and wanted to play for a club which has a chance of winning titles and trophies. Apparently, they aren't now, lol.

Carroll, he didn't want to leave but he handed in a transfer request after Newcaslte wanted to cash in on him I think, knowing they can bag 35 million for him.

But you are right, Carroll and Suarez are different players from Torres and it is not fair to say they are supposed to replace them but let me say this, I'd rather have two strikers at the ages of 23 and 25, than one sulking forward at 28.

Carroll is supposely to be that big striker like John Toshack and Luis Suarez, IMO, is not an excellent goal scorer but he's one hell of a creator. He's supposed to be like Keegan and Kenny!

QUOTE(bitebug @ Feb 19 2012, 06:30 PM)
What teams are still in the run for the FA cup? I know Sunderland is one. Chelsea and Birmingham will have a replay no?
True. I have no beef with players who leave their club unlike some whistling.gif But they need to repay the investments the club made for them first. Torres certainly did that, and so did Owen. Suarez and Carroll still have a long way to go, especially Suarez after the Evra incident. I expect him to score more than Torres
*
I guess Chelsea will have to travel to St. Andrews for the replay.

I loved Torres but I don't think he repaid the club's and fans' faith in him enough. Yeah, he scored 81 goals in 142 games, that's amazing but we won nothing with him and we never even got to a final. At least Owen brought us back the treble. Who could forget how he single-handedly won the FA Cup in 2001! Don't forget he also scored in the UEFA Cup Final 2001, Worthington Cup 2003. I appreciate the goals Torres scored and it has been such a long time I've seen a Liverpool forward score so many, breaking all the records but all that mean nothing without silverware.

And I actually don't think Suarez will score more than Torres! He's shown he's very poor at finishing XD (unless of course, he remains here for a longer period of time) but I tell you, if it was Torres and Suarez as a partnership, Suarez will create so many that Torres will easily be top scorer for the season.

We bought Suarez so that he can partner with Torres up front. We never get to see that. We got Carroll instead...

Yup. And I think Torres knew he could leave once we had another striker lined up .. that .. ******* XD Suarez+Torres would be so orgasmic.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Feb 20 2012, 04:32 PM)
I don't think there's any dispute that the ball cross the line. No one protested and even on TV, it looks pretty clear that it did cross the line.

I'm still a little perplexed as to how our wall was so ineffective. I guess we left gaps rushing to close the ball down as the free-kick was played to Lua-Lua. Regardless, I don't think any keeper would have got down to it.

Decent game all in all. It wasn't played at a high tempo, at least not until Brighton conceeded their third and had to adopt a more attacking lineup, bringing on Vicente in place of a defender. If not for Carlderon's superb clearance from Suarez, Kuyt's header on to the post and Suarez's penalty miss, it could have been more.
*
Carroll's got two headers as well I think.

And, Suarez is horrendous as a penalty taker! biggrin.gif Glad he finally got his goal in the end, though.

I loved how Carroll ran to Downing when he scored, how Skrtel ran to Gerrard when he scored and Suarez ran to Carroll when he scored.

TEAM SPIRIT!

No thanks
*
Agreed.

Seems some have not got over him.

Fernando Torres was the best striker in the world when he was here. I appreciate what he has done and he gave me many memories but there is no way he's coming back.

We've got Carroll and Suarez now anyways and they deserve our attention more than that backstabber.

I don't think liv fans should call torres a backstabber. If i remember correctly, he requested for transfer AFTER liv has acquired suarez, right? that means he doesn't want to leave liv without a proper striker, that's why he waited until the club acquired a striker. in other words, although he feels he won't win anything with liv, he stills feels responsible for liv's well being. my 2 cents
*
It's not a problem for me when a player leaves. It's part of fooball but it's unacceptable when you call your former club a small club shortly after leaving.

Torres: "It's every footballers dream to play for a big club and I can finally do that now"

He practically came out with an interview almost every other week speaking about Liverpool.

And just two weeks ago ..

"I remember a game against Wolverhampton and I was on the bench, and they were still singing my name.

"I've been very lucky to live very good moments but that game, when I was in the middle of nothing and not playing, was maybe the best memory I have in all my career.

So I guess the years of 2007-2011 where we stuck with him through thick and thin meant nothing.

His autobiography book consisted of 3.5 years of lies.

Can't even remember him thanking us, as fans, for his time at Liverpool. I have no problems with him leaving but he basically disrespected the club and the fans who sang his name.

QUOTE(rickk @ Feb 21 2012, 09:12 AM)
Torres is not "Judas", Meireles is! Anyway, I don't think he will return to Anfield, but who knows someday later he will go Old Toilet? Ops, I mean Old Traford la.  icon_rolleyes.gif
*
At least Meireles put on performances we wanted to see. So did Mascherano, Arbeloa and Alonso, all whom made up their minds about leaving a season before they left.

The knobhead could learn a thing or two about respect even from Ryan babel.

Well, at least our main striker isn't on a 4 month goal drought.

Probably has more goals than ladyboy himself.

QUOTE(leftist @ Feb 21 2012, 10:00 AM)
the big problem with Torres at chelsea is - confidence
if he got his confidence back,he'll be a messiah for chelsea..and one more thing,he cant score if the supply sucks! biggrin.gif
*
True but confidence or not, 5 goals in like 50 appearances at a supposedly "bigger" club is horrendous. I expected him to still score 15-20 goals a season not ... 5 since being there for more than a year. And the thing is, he hasn't got injured at Chelsea whereas he was in and out of the team here at Liverpool.

QUOTE(leftist @ Feb 21 2012, 10:28 AM)
sturridge not same as torres..he can dribble unlike torres..for torres u need to give him one on one with keeper..only then he'll score..as long as he got the confidence laaa biggrin.gif
*
Torres can dribble la tongue.gif but something is just wrong when a striker being played as a right winger scores more goals than you can as a striker.

If Kuyt goes, it will be a massive loss to Liverpool. Liverpool should extend his stay for another 1-2 years seriously. He could't be worse than Henderson! Come on.

Kuyt has a knack of scoring important goals for Liverpool, and I can't remember the number of times his goals saved us from blushes and won key games.

If he does leave this summer, which i hope he doesn't,  he can hold his head up high as he will be reverred as a KOP legend .
*
But I guess it's not just in FSG's policy to keep players till ages of 34, especially if they don't contribute alot but well, the same can be said about Carragher and Gerrard who are 34 and 32 this year.

Kuyt's presence is equally important because he's one of the senior players in the side but I guess it's just football that at that age, you don't start many games because of the arrival of the younger players.

I love Kuyt and he has always scored important goals for us. Even though he frustrates the hell out of me sometimes, I wouldn't want to see him leave Liverpool without a winner's medal and a cup double this season would do just nice for the team wink.gif
