You know, we had a real chance of coming out of this smelling like roses before Suarez decided on his u-turn. Up until then, I believe that the public still symphatised with Suarez and felt deep down that he was hard done by the FA and that Evra had manipulated the whole situation. Be the better man, shake the b@st@rd's hand and apologize to the public (sorry for misunderstanding, sorry for damaging club, England is a lovely country, the EPL rules, will strive to improve and win things for the club blah x 3) and come away as the lovable idiot. Evra then looks like the ass that he is. The FA will look like overbearing overeacting fools. Sigh.

I am all for honesty and wearing your heart on your sleeve and all, but just as we had to revamp our archaic approach to merchandising and branding, we also need to learn how to manage people's perception of us.

Being hypocritical is when you starfish and then go to the media berating 'foreigners' of going down to easily.
Being hypocritical is when you laugh and joke about the failings of other team's player but try to defend the indefensible when one of our own is involved.

There is nothing hypocritical imho when it comes to expecting a higher moral standard / code of conduct amongst our own players. It is about signing players who fit 'the Liverpool way'. Many objected and balked at the though of signing C.Ronaldo (whom we called a blatant diving cheat) but then rejoiced when we signed Suarez? That's hypocritical if you ask me.

Some would argue that the Liverpool spirit died the day we were sold to G&H. I would prefer to see it as although we must be managed and run as a profit based business, we can still retain our core values of integrity, togetherness and camaraderie. And like in any other business, every decision made must have had its costs and benefits taken into consideration.

When there is a handball in the penalty area there is a red card and the player is thrown out of the game.

The player instinctively reacted and was thrown out of the match and he can't play the next match. What else do you want?

Don't understand why the handball incident created such a negative image for Suarez. He was literally in tears when he was sent off for God's sake.

On the other hand, Thierry Henry committed a handball that (For those who have short term memory loss, France was horrible that WC and didn't deserve to qualify.) sent Ireland out of qualification. Not only he went unpunished, he pretended that it was a fair goal.

Henry returned to the Premier League 2 months ago and he's called a legend. Suarez, on the other hand, is labelled a cheat.

Go figure.

On an unrelated issue, looks like there's going to be another player revolt at Chelsea...

I wonder if this indeed spells the end of Torres' time in England? I would think that he's not been included into the 'inner circle' as yet.

It's expected that the whole of Uruguay back Suarez. They understand the cultural differences and Suarez is a national sports icon. Having said that, it says something that the president himself has voiced his support for Suarez. What's nice to see is that the Ajax fans, of which a fair number are black, are showing their support for him. So much for him being racist eh?

Good win. Bring on Stoke to Anfield. Hope we can finally beat them this season.

I saw somewhere that there is high possibility of lavezzi coming here.Hope this happens as we can't rely on bellamy all the time and i think kuyt might leave us this summer.
