When surfing if i'm listening a podcast or internet radio on another tab while open other tab, the content stop, infact it will stop if i do something else on the phone while running boat browser in the background. FAIL

Not to mention it cant handle complicated content cut and paste on complex form when blogging. Fail

And ugly too so I stick to Opera Mobile for now, until someone come out a browser that can handle EPAYMENT TICKETING AND SEAT BOOKING of Golden Screen Cinema like the old Skyfire.

Well user different needs. For me Boat is best n number one follow by xscope, dolphin, stock and last opera
The one that meets most one needs is best. Similarly there is no best smartphone.

i have no idea what i doing. but i manage to flash roms and do many funky things to bootanimation and all. so now i thought mebbe is time for me to learn abit about clocking speeds and temperatures and voltages.

any guide for this if coming from abysskernel 3.5 ? any settings for reference ?
*
Always do a nandroid backup before experimenting with setcpu n voltage settings. As a general guide undervolt by 100-150 mv is quite safe. Depending on kernel lowest you can set cpu speed is 100 mhz but safer at 200 mhz. Check several posts back one user has posted my settings which you can use as reference

hi guys,

thanks for the quick reply. i think i'll go ahead with uncle benny method smile.gif
anyway here's the checklist of what files needed before I proceed, do let me know if there's anything missing.

- PC Odin 1.85
- Stock firmware for 2.3.5
- Stock firmware for 2.3.6
- Zergrush exploit
- Kernel for 2.3.5
- Kernel for 2.3.6
- Mobile Odin Pro

is everything correct? kindly advise... thanks
*
It is Chainfire modded kernel files . You can try use Mobile odin lite ( free version )
Post files exact name you are downloading - if you want reconfirmation

Added on February 4, 2012, 5:36 pmTested latest LA6 rom by King Droid : took it down after 2 hours - UI lags terribly vs all the roms I have tested
Now downloading JBroid version LA6 ( deoedexed and slight tweaks ) close to stock rom - see whether it can match Substancer LA4

The app is definitely not buggy. You need download the whole 500+ mb and msia map is only a small portion of the download

Tested JBroid version of LA6 - has been on it past 4 hours . Excellent rom, comparable to Substancer LA4 and Rocket V21 but without those fancy tweaks to UI. As similar to Rocket V21 - temperature is much cooler than stock LA4. With phone being charged for past 2 hours it remains at 32-33 degree C only. UI is very smooth - and rom is tweaked further by developer script , he called it JBroid engine
I installed it right on top of Substancer LA4 without any wipe

The jBroid Engine works on the functions listed below: I quote

app2sd
optimization of the battery
boot the phone faster
cfs (in conjunction with power management modes)
cpu (optimization and responsiveness of the phone)
drop
efs (backup your file efs)
governor (in conjunction with the kernel)
graphic (improved signage and quality)
hotplug (improved connectivity)
kernel (kernel related)
memory (better management of ram)
perm
read (optimization of the SD card)
remount (better treatment data)
scheduler (in conjunction with the kernel)
sdcard (optimization of the SD card)
security (enhanced system security)
smoothloop
sqlite (best data processing)
tcp (improved connectivity)
screen (touch screen optimization)
vm (Dalvik tweaks)
zipalign

The S1 is a poor performance phone - I have used it before. Even I change to ext4 with voodoo and all cooked roms - it still lags. You cannot compare it with the Note. Like comparing a 3000 cc car with a 1600 cc car
The SI is the worst android phone I have ever used. See my signature what androids I have ever used before. Even my HD2 on Android outperform it

Root it and have CWM installed - do a nandroid backup . It is the best as it backup your rom plus all your apps/data/settings etc exactly as it is at point of backup. And restoring it will give you back exactly the state it was in

QUOTE(Lucius <3 @ Feb 5 2012, 12:16 AM)
Hey guys, just want to know opinions about this note. I own a samsung captivate for awhile and I loved it! Anyway this note kind of caught my attention and I just want to know whether it is good enough for me.

Well 2 or 3 questions here,

Is this note is good for video playback? I love movies and I do watch movies on my captivate from time to time but it is kind of small and like i said, note caught my attention. So basically I want to know, can this note plays mkv video format? I mean those 720p movies? Is it smooth?

Secondly in terms of browsing, I know the browsing is good on note based on the reviews on the internet, but I want to know how is the browsing experience when you have a lot of apps and data on your note? Based on my experience on my captivate, it is smooth at first but then it gets a little laggy after awhile, even with flash is on demand or off.

Im not so concern about the battery life as I can deal with it, anyway how about glass resistance? As far as I know, it is not gorilla glass as there is no official confirmation from samsung though few people claimed it to be. Anyway how is the overall smoothness of the phone after been using it for awhile? Would be nice if i get answers from users with many apps and thousands of messages on the note.

Would appreciate the replies, thanks!
*

MKV format no problem at all on default video player. You can use other 3rd party ( free ) eg Moboplayer, MVideoplayer too or paid players such as VPlayer, VitalPlayer. It plays 1080p videos very smoothly too

Browsing is good : i have about 150 apps on my phone. You can always close your open apps if you worried about it - not an issue at all. But I never like stock browser - I use BOAT browser as my favorite follow by XScope and Dolphin,. Infact I used my Note for browsing 80 % of the time

uncle benny,
wat's de diff btw nandroid backup & titanium backup?
*
Titanium only backup apps/data associated with apps. It can only function in a working phone NOt a dead phone
Nandroid is FULL backup 100% of ROM and all your apps/data/settings and it works when your phone is dead and cannot be successfully bootup. Just boot into recovery mode and you can restore. So this is one major advantage of rooting and have CWM recovery installed

It is freaking easy just to root : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
As long as you can read English. Read it twice and read it again the 3rd time - this time jot down the steps in your own flowchart. Even my friend 12 year old can root n flash roms just by reading it , doing it for his father !!!. HE DOES NOT REALLY UNDERSTAND MOST OF IT BUT HE KNOWS HOW TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS STRICTLY TO THE DOT. And one of the kernel developer at XDA is only A 12 year old KID !!!

sorry, i'm not sure for this, may be other sifu can guide you.. the app was my daughter pandai2 installed.. and maxis bill told me that is the app..

for my note, cause i'dont really understand which rom for which kernel or vice versa, so i just stay at LA4 now.. and the phone can last me 16 hours is more than enough for my daily use.. I use a lot on wi-fi, packet data when no wi-fi, GPS, and taking photo..
*
As long as you are happy with present rom, not really necessary to change. LA4 is I would say to date is the best build

Added on February 5, 2012, 11:29 amBTW I tested LDroid rom ( LA6) with Abyss 3.6 kernel - not suitable as phone keeps rebooting after on/about 10 minutes idle. looks like some incompatible issue here. I never faced such reboot issues before in all the roms I have tested

Ace is proton saga while note is honda accord. The note performance will thrash the g ace
It only lag slightly if u used 3rd party launchers as so far all such launcher cannot cope with note higher resolution. Well some users can accept the slight lag using it
Camera is good though i would not say excellent. It can match the famed xperia arc camera if not better

Always do a backup before tinkering with your phone as accidents can happen though is rare in just rooting it
