Kept my 16mm pancake and 18-200 OSS zoom. Added the new 50mm f1.8 to my camera bag as well. Didn't go for the NEX-5N when it came out coz I didn't like the whole touchscreen thingy but the NEX-7 is a seriously good piece of kit. QUOTE(mls_gamer @ Jul 2 2012, 11:30 PM) Still learning manual setting... lol... totally newbie in Mirrorless camera...and never used any DSLR before. Go for the free Alpha Basic NEX Workshops organized by Sony. Just don't get too eager to keep swapping lenses, point the camera body down when you do, pick a clean location to do it. Best not to swap lenses at the beach , dusty places like construction yards or places with much flowers and pollen floating around. There is a danger of facing what many of us have faced before.. the dreaded dusts on sensor. QUOTE(widget @ Jul 2 2012, 11:35 PM) Put me in under Nex 7 bro.... I love this little bugger I sold my Fuji X100 after I bought the Sigma 19mm and it has become my walk-about camera... Small enough to carry inside my work bag everyday This post has been edited by nlik: Jul 2 2012, 11:45 PM |

QUOTE(porkchop @ Jul 7 2012, 01:58 PM) Suspect that it should be able to trigger other flash via Optical trigger. Otherwise as some of us have already done, use the Seagull SYK-5 to ignore the pre-flash and trigger many other external flashes.QUOTE(cynnz @ Jul 8 2012, 08:02 PM) hello..anyone is using NEX F3 ? how is it if compare with Nikon D3100? Thanks! D3100 outdated liow.. go for D3200 if u decide that way. If you list out your criterias, maybe some of us here can help you decide because both are good. Size and Weight? Adjustable screen? Have older Nikon lenses? Price? Berjaya times sq has both Nikon and Sony shops so best you go hold both models in your hands before deciding.Im very new and dont know anything bout camera..lookign for a camera for normal use & holiday use....need more advice....thanks! |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Jul 15 2012, 11:19 PM) 900 sharp but to be honest... i still have much to learn on this lens... The background bokeh is as what you wanted, so keep the aperture as it is. Reduce ISO to a smaller number, alternatively increase your shutter speed. maybe can do abit of sharpening in PP.and macro lens glass at front seems more flat than the other i went to the flora expo in cyberjaya past few weeks... most of my photo is over exposure... maybe i should make the aperture smaller... QUOTE(geek8585 @ Jul 16 2012, 08:38 AM) thanks nlik for your comment... from my exif, the ISO is just set at 100 only... Oh windy perhaps shutter speed is the only thing i hv to set it up... i'm in a windy situation when i taking this photo... will upload more photos soon.. may i ask one question? usually when i take photos of flower, i tried to macro those inner part of the flower but for some flower like orchid or hibiscuit which the inner part is deep inside.. it looks dark when i snap, the outside part looks ok... is flash needed in this situation? Can also layer both pictures, 1st exposure blur background on top of the 2nd sharp flower exposure. Then slowly eraser/smart delete the blur 1st exposure flower until the sharp flower layer below can be seen. Or can do some blending la. Have fun ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ As for the macro of the flowers (i don't have any true macro lenses), maybe an external flash or flashlight/reflector can be placed at an angle below the flower, then you take a shot at it from the top? Just an idea, maybe I'll try it out when i'm feeling bored and not running around. Anyone else here used a ring flash before and would it help in this situation?? Flowers.. Aaah..give them during graduations, courting, when friends r sick... they're not just for pictures u know!! This post has been edited by nlik: Jul 17 2012, 12:02 AM |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Jul 17 2012, 12:03 AM) Wow the flower pic snap by you not bad.. But I think it has been processed by Lightroom ad right? I didn't buy lightroom lar. I use GIMP 2.8 and irfanview. For Raw Sony Image Data Converter 4 If use external to shoot on the flower, every single setting must have recalculate.. The blending skill sounds workable I do prefer something more natural indeed.. Or my photo edit skill really isn't that good.. Haha.. Still hv lot to learn.. Bro nlik, may I know what lens u equipped with your nex? I mean your list of gadget... Prepare to be disappointed. I'm only using 1st gen NEX-5 + free TR-37 tripod This post has been edited by nlik: Jul 17 2012, 12:32 AM |

QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Jul 19 2012, 05:42 PM) Just in case you guys have lots of money to spend, here is a mini tripod L plate that fits exactly the NEX 5N! May I ask what advantage does this give?? I have a used unit for sale if you are interest (check my signature) Visit Official Product Page Cause NEX already has a tripod mount at the bottom and even cheap tripods can allow the camera to switch between a horizontal and vertical orientation by just a push of a lever. |

QUOTE(Ah hao @ Jul 20 2012, 07:56 PM) cotton bud ? wont destroy the sensor? Cotton bud at your own risk and probably depends on what brands.. as this may leave even MORE tiny strands of follicles on the sensor. It won't destroy the sensor as you are wiping the low pass filter only. The sensor is behind this filter. I've seen in foreign forums claiming sensor wet wipes do a better job.ok, wil try and ask them. if register warranty online how i prove my warranty status? print screen the webpage? thx for ur tips Send it back to Sony. If under warranty it's totally free and no need to bring any documentation because they check the serial numbers on the product. Easier to remove battery and memory card before you hand it over, otherwise they will and u have to take those back anyway. They bubble wrap your camera during transportation. After warranty I think it is RM20 only. The long wait is probably the only pain u will have to endure. Then after that learn to be more selective where to swap lenses haha.. QUOTE(samsungfreak @ Jul 19 2012, 10:35 PM) Did you notice you enjoy shooting in Landscape mode more than in Portrait mode when using your tripod? Do you notice when you shoot in portrait mode you ended up need to do a lot of adjustment to your ballhead and sometimes even the leg? And then your knob position is changed and you find it hard to align your shot properly? L plate is something after you use it, you always want one (so it is poison, be warned!). I guess some people can find some use for it, the Japs produced it so they must have thought it through.Anyway, here's my own 2 cents... There's No landscape or portrait bias for me when on the tripod, because it's based on the composition and subject I am looking at and not the convenience of either. Here's one taken in May 2012 where i decided a portrait orientation was more appropriate for the sunset. Portraits and model shoots, generally I don't use tripods, even the Sony workshop didn't use tripods for portrait shots. I do see at studio's, weddings and during Convocations, where they use tripods for portraits since the customer's position and background is already preset and the camera is not going to move around. I think this L bracket will be good in that kind of shooting. For me, tripod is mainly for slow shutter situations or, - want to get multiple exposures of the same scene, - video, zooming using the tripod - when I don't have another friend with me. Of course this is not an exhaustive list and all of you will have other creative uses for it. Some even disassemble the tripod and turned it to some special Video rig. Well.. sometimes even the elbows acts like a tripod. Below is an earlier tripod shot. Anyway, all these are tools and up to us on how we use it to fulfill our creative aspirations. QUOTE(badguy @ Jul 24 2012, 09:54 AM) CPL filter is like when we go to fishing's time wear sun glasses which can see through the surface of water to look at the fish is it?? Yes, CPL allows you to literally see through glare and reflective surfaces. That includes Glass. The Sky would be darker because CPL will also reduce the amount of light reaching the sensor, so may have to compensate with higher iso or slower shutter. and can make sky more blue and sharp correct?? if i buy back a Hoya UV Filter is it ok?? how about Kenko brand? B+W is too expensive for me thanks Be careful though, cause there are FAKE Hoya's being sold. QUOTE(poolcarpet @ Jul 24 2012, 10:33 AM) sorry no idea, i don't believe in using any filters for protection at this time. think it just waste the quality of the lens+camera unless get those really good expensive ones. Well, once in a while filters will allow you some shots which would be impossible to produce in photoshop. |

QUOTE(lovelyhelp @ Jul 24 2012, 11:27 AM) which lens are you using? Added on July 24, 2012, 11:32 am I have the same feeling also. Most of my shoot is blur..How? QUOTE(poolcarpet @ Jul 24 2012, 09:55 PM) Of course for photographic reasons then yes by all means use filters. But not for 'protection' using some cheapo sacrificial filter! It's just spoiling the image the camera and lens is capable of true true, low quality filters do degrade image quality. Oh yea. can also try stacking up the filters haha.. attach one filter over another, to degrade it even further. ----------------------------------------------------- By the way, there are filters of 49mm size. However those that have the more common 52mm or larger lenses can use a STEP UP RING to fit the larger filter on the NEX lenses and share your filters. |

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jul 25 2012, 06:02 PM) your adapter can control the aperture of canon lens ? Yea, you got a valid point here. For canon lenses, can actually find a friend with a Canon body and plug it in, adjust the aperture and the aperture will then remain at that settings. Well, this means you need to attach it to a Canon body each time you want to change it.if not, you will be only shooting wide open at all time ? I purposely selected a Nikon adapter with an aperture ring, and Nikon lenses that has a tiny aperture lever at the rear. Enjoy manual focusing and aperture control. QUOTE(badguy @ Jul 25 2012, 05:23 PM) so, buy a canon EF 50mm F1.8 II at RM 250 plus a adaptor for nex RM70 Kit lens also can do bokeh waad. zoom to 50mm and focus on something close by.is it good enough to take bokeh photo?? QUOTE(badguy @ Jul 25 2012, 04:17 PM) To me, without Steadyshot inside or VR or IS, ceteris paribus, you're gonna get more blur shots with the 85mm compared to the 50mm. Bored of flowers, here's a shot from PD Tri earlier this month. This post has been edited by nlik: Jul 25 2012, 11:22 PM |
