It does follow the norm of a usual design, but doesn't mean that it's ugly, or grotesquely ugly for that matter. From the looks of it, I think the curves will fit into the palm very well - giving a confident grip on the camera.

What each of you said does have your own merits and brings truth. The way I see it, Hassy saw an opportunity and has probably did some market research for what the market wants in their own niche of niche group. This is probably where Sony fits into their business strategy. Why not oly? Why not panasonic? Nikon1? Canon M? But Sony? My best guess is that Hassy realised that amongst all brands, Sony has the most innovative brains behind the CSC line in the market comparatively. That's good news for Sony. Imagine this, a MNC wants a slice of cake from the business of a local company (sony's young alpha division, not Sony as a whole). It's a win win for both.

QUOTE(serewen @ Sep 24 2012, 11:32 PM) actually, you shouldn't have used flash. use natural light, keeping the glow from the lanterns as the main subject. now, everything is in view, detracting the viewer from whatever you're trying to show (i'm assuming it's the lanterns here, and not the roof tiles). secondly, the image doesn't tell much of a story, half cropped lantern tops and bottoms, and even the name plaque is cropped away. an advice would be, the next time you see a scene that is appealing to you, take a moment 1st to think of how you want to convey the scene into a single image. take note of the subject's edges so that they don't get cropped away. you could employ the rule of thirds to make a comparatively more pleasing shot... but most of all, keep taking photos and don't be shy/afraid from constructive criticisms. |

geek85, ok like this. The next time you take a pic, ask yourself, "what do I like about this picture?" explain to yourself 1st, what makes the particular picture that you took looks nice. Without convincing yourself, how to convince others?
Rule of thirds is very simple and straightforward. In a photo, have 2 imaginary lines cross vertically and horizontally with equal distance from one another. You will then see a # symbol, correct? Now, your subject, frame it in your camera so that the subject is on the intersecting (crossing) lines in the #. Either 4 of the intersections also can. Take this as a guide 1st, start from here, in the future when you're more experienced, this rule can be 'broken' with more creative approaches. |

Use tripod, keep low iso, shutter slower than 1/10s and aperture at lens' sweet spot. Variable here is shutter speed.

Go buy one. For NEX, any cheapo tripod also can d. Less than 30 bucks can get one.

QUOTE(alvinwh @ Oct 6 2012, 12:34 AM) Camera Sony NEX-3 Any camera, high iso of coz will also be noisy. This was just a test to show the noise level to be expected at MAX iso. So that u can judge what are the lower iso is capable of. High iso is to be used when light levels are really really low and a high shutter speed is required to prevent subject movement. Exposure 0.02 sec (1/50) Aperture f/4.5 Focal Length 39 mm ISO Speed 1600 Exposure Bias +0.3 EV Flash Off, Did not fire 4 more pics here... saw ur 3rd n 4th photo of a gal pic, wit low iso can snap a nice pic but not on high iso.. am i rite? Geek, the 5R has a control dial like the NEX 7 as well, albeit only 1 instead of 2 on the NEX 7. Quickens function access by a huge margin. |

QUOTE(RX-78-2 @ Oct 14 2012, 08:06 PM) then get the SEL30F35 macro loh, i also got 1 mainly for macro shooting. or else get the macro extension ring. Some commentsbtw, today morning i join the NEX Outdoor Portraiture workshop. very nice!!! » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I like your no.1 a lot 2 and 3 you've her face too overexposed. 2, 3, 4 and 5 color is too yellow. she looks like she have jaundice. 6 would be better with eye contact and her right hand not cropped from the scene most of your shots would benefit from more eye contact from the model. 9 I believe is a very bad attempt at photoshop.
